Steve: Wow, that’s awesome, Y/N.

Y/N: Uh… No?

Clint: Y/N, how did you make those?

Y/N: Um, I blended paper, that I found laying around, with water…

Y/N: I may or may not have gotten them from the break room…

Tony:

Tony: Well I’m not explaining it to Fury.

I’m Still Your Sunshine (Tony Stark x Daughter!Reader)

Description: A continuation of the songfic “Sunshine” which follows the events of endgame.

Author’s note: hi guys. So I worked really, really hard on this piece, and honestly, I think it turned out really nice. This is the second verse of “You are my Sunshine,” which is kind of a response to the first verse, so that’s how I treated it, with the entire thing in your POV. I really hope you all like it!

I’m still your sunshine

It came back slow, the feeling of being alive – almost like waking up from a deep sleep just as the sun began to rise, shining through the window of your bedroom.  It’s the kind of sleep that leaves you feeling simply refreshed in the morning and ready to take on the day.

Unfortunately, that peace was rather short-lived; it left the moment I remembered what had happened – the moment I remembered leaving my dad.

Quickly, I shot upright, panic coursing through my veins as I whipped back and forth, searching for my father.  Quick, shallow breaths got shorter and shorter by the second, my vision getting more and more blurry when I couldn’t find him right away.

He couldn’t have died, not him.  He was way too stubborn to not figure out a way to survive.  Right? Right?!

A hand rested on my shoulder, and immediately I jumped around, arms flailing to try and land a hit on the intruder.

“(Y/N), it’s just me!” the voice sounded like it was coming from far away, on the shore of the ocean where I was drowning.  There was no air, no light. I couldn’t find my way out.  I was scared. I just wanted to see my dad.

I had to find him.  He’ll definitely save me, just like he always has – just like he promised he always would.

“(Y/N), it’s me, it’s Peter!  Just calm down, ok?!”

Peter.

I knew Peter.  He was the one that dad recruited.  I hated him at first, when he’d stolen my spot in the Civil War, but it didn’t take long for him to weasel his way into becoming one of my best friends.

Little by little, my breathing started to slow down. Suddenly, I could feel Peter’s arms around me, keeping me as close as possible until I calmed down. And… my cheeks felt wet, too. I must’ve been crying.

“It’s ok, I’ve got you,” Peter murmured, refusing to loosen his grip on me for a second.  I could only nod into his shoulder as I tried to focus simply on calming down.

Your only sunshine

I glanced over at everyone else, each of them alive and standing just like I was.  But… how?  And more importantly, how long were we all away?

“Five years.”  He seemed to read my mind.  Was that one of Dr. Strange’s powers?  I didn’t think so, but then again, he wasn’t exactly forthcoming with a lot of information.

“My dad?” My voice was hoarse and sounded foreign as I asked about the only thing I really cared about.

“He needs our help,” he stated simply.  Ugh, that was just like him, wasn’t it?

“Whatever he needs,” I answered confidently, straightening up and lifting my chin to stare at the man before me.  I could see Peter nod out of the corner of my eye as well as all of the – what did they call themselves?  The Guardians of the Galaxy? Oh well, it didn’t matter as long as they were willing to help my dad.

Dr. Strange opened one of those weird yellow circles that he loved so much, and before long, we were jumping through it and onto what looked like a massive battlefield, surrounded by every ally I could have ever imagined.

Still, I was focused on one thing and one thing only: Steve Rogers, the man who used to think of as an uncle until he decided to betray my father.  The man who was standing alone.

I managed to catch his eye for a second, but before I could even say anything, he had turned away.  It looked like I would have to find my dad on my own.

“AVENGERS!” Steve summoned Mjolnir… wait, WHAT? “…assemble.”  Ok, I’ll figure it out later.  Time to fight.

I’ll always love you

The fight was unbelievable.  I almost couldn’t tell where one side began and the other side ended.  Really, I was just focused on hitting anything that looked gross, which was actually working pretty well.

Suddenly, everything stopped.

It.. it was him.  He was right there, hugging Peter, and he was ok!

“Dad!” I screamed at the top of my lungs, fresh tears stinging my eyes.  Immediately, he looked up and our eyes met.

I started running so hard that I almost fell a few times as my feet struggled to keep up.  My chest was tight, each breath fighting to get through the sobs trapped in my throat. But I didn’t care about all of that. All I cared about was seeing him again.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I was crashing into his arms.  Together, the two of us sank to the ground.  I could feel him sobbing just as hard as I was as he held me as tight as he could, almost as if he was afraid to let me go again. I wouldn’t even dream of complaining, though. I felt the exact same way.

“I-I thought you were gone,” I gasped shakily, my hands clutching onto anything they could hold to remind myself that he was still there, still with me.

“I would never leave you, sunshine.  I’m right here, I promise,” he muttered, pressing a long kiss to the top of my head.  “It’s ok.  We’re ok.”

Though I’m away

I wanted to stay like that forever, but we both knew it couldn’t happen.  Eventually we would have to keep fighting.  No matter what, we had to win.

“Scott, how long you need to get that thing working?” My dad was the one who broke the fantasy.  Quickly, I wiped my eyes, and together, we stood back up just in time to see a passing Dr. Strange.

“Hey!” I snapped, stopping the wizard in his tracks.  “You said one out of 14 million, we win, yeah?  Tell me this is it!”

He frowned and glanced at my dad before turning back to me.  “If I tell you what happens, it won’t happen.”  I searched deeper into his eyes, looking for the cryptic meaning behind his words. There was something there that I couldn’t figure out, but whatever it was, it made me sick to my stomach.

“You better be right,” my dad nodded, laying a hand on my shoulder.  I glanced up at him, worried.

Something didn’t feel right.

I’m still your sunshine

It was a mad dash for the gauntlet.  The flying woman had it for a while, but she lost it when a rusty old van exploded, and now, it was lying on the ground.

Run.  I had to run.  I couldn’t let Thanos get there first.

My dad covered me and tackled the massive, wrinkly grape, but I wasn’t really paying attention.  All I was focused on was the piece of metal lying just a few feet away.  I finally reached it, but just before I could grab it, I was sent flying by a large purple hand.

I gritted my teeth together and forced myself back to my feet just in time to see Strange holding up one finger – a warning but also a reassurance.  We could still win.

I screamed and raced forward, tackling Thanos while dad yanked on the gauntlet, but before I could even hope to rip it off his hand, he punched us both away.

I couldn’t believe it.  We… we lost.  “I am… inevitable.”  I squeezed my eyes shut, waiting for it to happen all over again.  Waiting for that terrible cold feeling to come back.

“And I… am… Iron Man.”  My eyes snapped back open to see my dad with a gauntlet of his own.

And he snapped.

And it was all over.

Just only yours dear

After a while of staring in wonder as Thanos’s entire army turned to dust around us, we all came to the same incredible realization.

We really did it.

We actually won.

I turned to my dad, a wide smile on my face, ready to hug him, congratulate him on winning the war for us and probably throw in a few jabs about how he always has to be the biggest hero.  Then I saw him. And suddenly, my smile disappeared.

I dragged myself numbly back to my feet, staring at my father where he sat, burns covering the entire right half of his body. If felt like there was a bubble in my chest, pushing against my heart and lungs and stomach. I kept waiting it to fill with terror or anger or grief or something, but it merely sat there. Like it was just waiting to be popped.

Peter ran past me on my right, and I stumbled a bit.  I think it was Bucky, or maybe it was Sam, who helped me back to my feet.  I didn’t really care who it was. I just kept walking.

I heard FRIDAY say something along the lines of, “Life functions critical,” but it didn’t really register above the ringing sound that was banging against the inside of my skull.

I fell to my knees next to Pepper in front of him, my entire body shaking as I took in just how bad it really was – as I realized that my dad, my hero and my constant savior, wasn’t going to make it.

“Hey, sunshine,” he whispered.

I took a deep, shaky breath in, forcing back tears.  I didn’t want his last moments to be spent seeing me cry.  He hated it when I cried. Somehow, he always thought it was his fault when it never really was. “Hey, dad,” I smiled a bit, though we both knew it was fake.  “Everyone’s fine now.  We’re ok, thanks to you.”  My voice broke as the lump in my throat grew overwhelming, keeping me from saying anything more.

Pepper nodded, her hand laid gently on top of my own.  “We’re gonna be ok.  You can rest now.”

There we sat, watching as the arc reactor in his chest flickered off. Watching as the life left my dad’s eyes.  Pepper started crying on his shoulder, but I could only sit back and stare at the man who’d raised me, who had given everything to me, suddenly gone.

And I was alone.

And I’m coming home someday

It was a nice funeral — classy, of course, considering Pepper was the one who put it together.  But it still didn’t change the fact that the greatest man I’d ever known — the greatest man this world had ever seen — was gone.

I felt a slight tug on my hand, and I glanced down to see my younger sister – part of me still couldn’t believe I actually had a little sister.  She was staring up at me with wide eyes, curious eyes that looked frighteningly similar to dad’s. She probably didn’t even understand what was going on.  Then again, she was her father’s daughter, so she’s probably a genius.

“What’s up, Morgan?” I struggled to smile at least a little bit, crouching down so I could be at her level.

“I’m hungry,” she said simply.

I chuckled a bit.  “How ‘bout you and I go get some cheeseburgers?” She nodded back.  “Dad always did love those things, huh?” I asked absentmindedly as I led her past the crowd, ducking to avoid the endless stares of pity that followed us, and back inside the little cabin. It was just like the one he used to always dream about taking me to when everything was over — when we wouldn’t have to be heroes anymore.

“We can get as many cheeseburgers as you want, okay?”

“Okay.”

We ate lunch together.  She was a good kid. I could tell.  And from the moment I first saw her, I made a promise to myself and to my dad that I would protect her since he couldn’t any more, and it seemed like she understood.  In no time at all, we had become inseparable.

After lunch, she started yawning, so I took her to her room for a nap.  I hesitated a moment after I had tucked her in.  I didn’t want to leave just yet. “Hey, how about a lullaby?”

Morgan nodded, and I smiled, settling in next to her so she could lay her head on my lap.

The familiar lullaby left my lips like it was nothing.  I was singing my dad’s part – the part that had gotten me through some of the worst times in my life.  It had ended far too quickly. I wanted to stay longer, to be with her. But before I could even think of getting out of the bed, I heard it.

Morgan’s little voice drifting through the bedroom with the same response to the song my dad had taught me so long ago, stopping me in my tracks.

I felt something wet rolling down my cheeks.

I… I was crying.

For the first time since the day of the battle, I was crying.  But somehow, I wasn’t too sad. No, it felt more like a reassurance — like suddenly I knew that everything was going to be ok.

I snapped out of my trance long after the song had finished and glanced fondly down at my little sister, who was already half asleep by then.

“I love you,” she mumbled tiredly.

I smiled and laid a gentle hand on her head, smoothing her hair away from her face.

“I love you, too, sunshine.”

Yes I’ll be coming home someday

Request:  “Can you do a fic based off the song ‘You’re in Love’ by Taylor Swift for Tony x the reader.  It can be more of Tony’s POV if you’d like.  It’s Tony realized that he’s in love with a much younger reader but it’s okay because he deserves ALL THE FLUFF”

Author’s Note:  Hey I’m so sorry this took absolutely forever.  I’m not gonna lie, it was pretty difficult for me to get started on this one for the simple reason that I don’t listen to Taylor Swift all too much.  Plus, things are super hectic in my life right now.  Still, once I got going, it started to come together pretty quickly.  So anyways, I really hope you like it – I actually ended up really having a good time with it in the end.

Important Note: (F/D) = Favorite Drink; (I/S) = Important Symbol to you (For instance, something that reminds you of your family)

One look, dark room

Women just for you

Time moved too fast

You played it back

Tony walked into the gala with an unimpressed look on his face. It was his fifth gala this month, and to be quite honest, it was getting old.

Every woman in the room turned their heads as he entered, and he had to choke back a sigh. He was just… so tired of this… this routine of woman after woman throwing themselves at him.  Make no mistake, he loved his life, and he loved the good work that he knew he was doing, but to have people only see him as this undefinable object that they want nothing more than to possess?  To only be wanted for his money, his fame?  It can get pretty disheartening.

Tony made his way through the crowd slowly, doing his best to ignore the feeling of eyes burning into his back.  All he had to do was make a quick donation and get out before anyone could ask him for a dance.  He loathed the endless dancing that came with these kinds of events and the endless dance partners that were simply looking for a way to get close to him and his money.

Wait.

No, something was different here.  Somewhere in this sea of vultures wrapped overly tightly in designer clothing was something better – something good.

Quickly, he did his best to retrace his steps in his mind, but everything had become such a blur of faces that he almost couldn’t remember seeing the one he was hoping for.

Buttons on a coat

Light hearted joke

No proof, one touch

But you saw enough

He’d seen her before, just a few times, but every single time, he could feel his entire chest restrict.  This time was no exception, of course, and when he saw her all alone, holding her arms close to her chest, he couldn’t help himself.  He couldn’t, for the life of him, figure out what that tight feeling in his chest was, but he knew he had to talk to her.

“Fancy seeing you here.”  Stupid.  That was way too cliché, he should’ve come up with something better.  The angry thoughts started racing through his mind at 100 miles per hour before they were stopped by one of the single most beautiful sounds he had ever had the privilege to hear.

Her giggle, like bells chiming on a cold Sunday morning, filled the air between them.  “I thought you knew this was one of my favorite charities,” she questioned, turning that amazingly contagious smile his way.

Tony quickly made a mental note of her words.  He’d had no idea of her favorite charity, but he certainly wouldn’t be forgetting it any time soon.  She shivered, and before he even knew what was happening, he had slipped off his jacket.

“No, you don’t have to-”

“I want to,” Tony interrupted, gently laying the fabric over her shoulders.  “Besides, it’s not even that cold in here.  I have no idea how you’re shivering.”

The woman scoffed, playing with the golden buttons stitched into the black suit jacket.  “Oh, please, you just don’t realize how cold it is ‘cause your heart is frozen solid.”  And just like that, they had fallen back into that familiar routine of sarcastic comments and witty retorts.  And yet, for some reason, Tony’s heart wasn’t really in the conversation, though he couldn’t figure out why.

No, that was a lie.  He knew exactly why he couldn’t focus.  His fingers had brushed her shoulders when he’d put his coat on her, and it was enough to send sparks flying up and down his arms.  He simply couldn’t shake off that incredible feeling.

Small talk, he drives

Coffee at midnight,

The light reflects

The chain on your neck

“I think this party might be dying.  You wanna get out of here?”  Why did he say that?  He knew how young she was; he knew he could never have her.  So why in the world would he ever say that?

“Sure!”  Thank God.

Tony led her to his car out back – sleek and black, perfectly matching his suit.  He didn’t bother telling Happy.  He would figure things out, he always did.  Instead, he just got in and drove.

That’s how they found themselves alone in a quite little coffee shop in the middle of the night.  He ordered a black coffee.  It tasted different without his usual addition of scotch, but he made a promise to himself not to do that in front of her.  She, of course, was happy with a cup of (F/D).

It took a while for him to notice, but eventually his gaze was drawn from that perfect face to the glint coming off from around her neck.

“You’re wearing it,” he murmured, not taking his eyes off of it for a second, half afraid and half hoping that the necklace she was wearing – the necklace that he gave to her – was a trick of the light.

She smiled, her hands unconsciously reaching up to hold the small pendant attached to the delicate piece of metal.  “It’s my favorite.”

That drew his attention back up, confusion written in the furrow of his brows.  “How?  I know for a fact that you have far more expensive than that.”  After all, the woman was incredibly successful, and he had seen her with more than one piece of jewelry worth thousands.  Of course, she usually wore them as a sponsorship for the makers.  Her main goal was always to donate as much as she could to charity – just another piece of what made her so incredible.

She sent him a soft smile, enough to reassure him with just a single look.  “It’s my favorite because it was given to me by a friend who truly knows me.  A friend who knows I’d much rather have a piece of jewelry that means something than a rock to hang on my neck.”  She glanced down at the (I/S) resting ever so gracefully in her perfect hands.  “It’s the best gift I could have ever asked for, and I never take it off.”

She says look up

And your shoulders brush

No proof, one touch

You felt enough

They soon had to leave the coffee shop, afraid that the owners would kick them out sooner or later, and started walking down the sidewalk back to his car.  Tony stared at his feet, his stomach churning at the thought of the night being almost over, knowing he would soon have to leave her.

He couldn’t keep doing this.  He couldn’t keep pining after a woman so much who was practically half his age.  The amount of ridicule that she would face simply for being with him would be endless, and he couldn’t bring himself to do that to her, no matter how much it hurt him.

“Tony, look up!” She screamed.  A hand wrapped around his arm, yanking him away from the street and the speeding car that would have run him down if not for her.

They stared at one another, panting, Tony barely registering the fact that they were shoulder-to-shoulder, and suddenly, it dawned on both of them: they felt the same way.

That’s when she closed the distance between them.

You can hear it in the silence, silence, you

You can feel it on the way home, way home, you

You can see it with the lights out, lights out

You are in love, true love

The memories were playing back in his mind over and over.  He even turned the radio off just so that he could swim through the pleasant memories instead.

The kiss – she was the one who lead it, but he sure as hell wasn’t complaining.

The confession – how she told him that she had liked him since the first time they met, and how it had only grown each time they talked, each of these words filling him with overwhelming happiness as he heard his own feelings being described back to him.

The way back to her apartment – it was the first time in a very long time that he was taking it slow, but it felt right, especially when she glanced over at him with a wide smile and rosy cheeks as they held hands over the center console.

Before he could blink, he was already in his driveway.  Tony chuckled to himself at his mindlessness and quickly made his way to his room, still replaying the events over in his mind.  He simply couldn’t help himself; it all seemed too wonderful to be true.

And so there he lay in his bed, smiling like an idiot as he stared at his phone.

One new contact: (Y/N) (L/N).

She was too young for him; he knew that, and he knew that a relationship would be unbelievably hard.  Still, he couldn’t help feeling like it was all going to work out and that, as long as she was by his side, he could get through anything.

Tony set his phone down on the nightstand and looked up at the ceiling in the dark, focusing simply on that same tightened feeling in his chest.

He’d known.

From the very beginning, he’d known exactly what this feeling was, he just wouldn’t admit it to himself.

Now, though, he could hold his head high and accept it with pride and joy.

You are in love

“(Y/n), look, I’m sorry-”

“No, shut up and listen to me for one minute! If you want to go out and take on an unnecessary suicide mission, by all means, go right ahead. You need to remember it’s not just your life you’re ending here, though! It’s mine too, because if you die Tony… I don’t know how I’d go on”

“Why are you looking at me like that? Is there something on my face?”

“No, you just never cease to amaze me; your plan is just crazy enough to actually work”

“Uh…I’ll take that as a compliment”

“Like I was saying, Capsicle said this recon mission you guys are doing will be dangerous and I need to know if you can…what are you doing?”

“I want to try these on, pretty sure I can rock them better than you”

“Stopppp, I’m trying to be serious and brooding and you are making that very hard!”

Tony: Here’s a fun Christmas idea. We hang mistletoe, but instead of kissing, you have to FIGHT whoever else is under it.

Peter: Tony no.

Y/N: Mistlefoe.

Peter: Please stop encouraging them.

Steve: Y/N isn’t answering their phone

Nat: I’ll call

Steve: Tony and I have both tried six times each, what makes you thi-

Y/N: Hello?

She flinches

Word Count:

Pairing: Tony Stark x Black Female OC

Warning: swearing, angst, a lil bit of fluff

Summary: Getting disrespected by the workers and being hit by Tony’s close ‘friend’. Y/N doesn’t get the respect she deserves until Stark shows up to make it known that she is in charge.

A/N: Life has been hard and sometimes I don’t understand why I have a soft heart. I can’t believe I was so blind to the shit. Anyway, enjoy this one-shot. I’m going to do a one-shot dump so yeah.

Lori rushes into Stark Industries as she has been named C.E.O of the company. She had been working there for six months and it hasn’t been easy. None of the workers take her seriously since Pepper was the last C.E.O.

“Hi, Kasey is my 2 o'clock meeting here yet?” Lori smiled at the worker behind the receptionist’s desk. Kasey huffed rolling her eyes typing on the computer.

“No, they are not here.”

“Oh um Thank you!” Lori gave her the thumbs up before walking to the elevator. She didn’t know why she wasn’t getting any respect. Bringing Tony into the situation wasn’t going to work at all. She wanted to gain their respect the right way.

Lori looked up to see Mark, who was the CFO, looking around on her desk.

“Excuse me you can’t be in here sir.”

“I’m pretty sure I can be in here. Just because you’re C.E.O doesn’t mean shit.” Mark rolled his eyes walking over to her. Lori moved to the side not wanting it to look like anything. She’s Tony’s wife and this wouldn’t be a pretty sight.

“It means a lot so I’m asking you nicely to please leave.”

Mark grabs Lori’s face harshly,“ You are nothing but a slut that slept with Tony for this position. I deserve this and everything else.”

Lori shoves him off of her roughly, “Get your hands off me! I will get Tony-”

It was like in slow motion as Lori fell to the ground holding her face. Mark had just punched her.

I will get that C.E.O position, you little bitch.”

Lori laid on the floor sobbing, scared to get up and face him. Mark stared at her intensely before leaving the room.

15 minutes later her phone starts ringing and her tears ceased. By that time she had told J.A.R.V.I.S to darken all windows so nobody could see inside. Picking up the phone, she saw Tony’s contact picture.

“Hello?”

“Hey, honey! Why is it so dark?” Tony asked as it seemed he was in his workshop.

“No reason honey, I caught a he-headache that’s all.”

“Okay well, I’m going to make dinner tonight with the help of J.A.R.V.I.S so be ready to be surprised when you get home, honey.”

“Okay baby I will be ready.”

“I love you, Lori.”

“I love you more Tony.”

The facetime call ended and she wasn’t lying, she did have a headache. Lori decided to close her eyes to ease her mind from all the crying. How was she going to tell Tony about this? Lori was genuinely scared and just wanted to disappear. She didn’t deserve any of this.

When she woke up, it was dark outside. Lori sat up holding her head confused.

“J.A.R.V.I.S what time is it?”

“It’s 10:53, Ms. Harvey.”

Shit”
—————-

Before Ms. Harvey left, she covered her eye in makeup so Tony wouldn’t see it. Lori walks into the house quietly so she couldn’t draw attention to herself. As soon as she walked in the lights turned on, revealing Tony sitting on the couch with his arms folded.

“Where have you been?”

Lori gasp closing her eyes and holding her chest closing the door. “I’m sorry I caught up in work.”

“Pfft like I’m supposed to believe that lie. Lori, I’m not stupid.”

“It’s not a lie Tony. I’m sorry okay?"Lori
sniffled setting her purse down. In the kitchen, you could see that it was a candle-lit dinner. The one time Tony tried, she wasn’t here.

"Bullshit Lori. What’s his name?” Tony asked getting off the couch going to her. Lori’s eyes filled with tears, looking down scared to speak up.

“WHAT’S HIS NAME?!"Tony yelled grabbing her hand so she could look at him. Lori flinched so hard as tears fell. She cowered, covering her hair. "Don’t hit me.”

His heart broke into two as he saw his girlfriend flinch. Tony looked at her in shock.

“What…you thought I was going to…  hit you?”

Lori sobbed nodding as Tony pulled her gently into his arms.

“I would never hit you, Lori.”

Tony whispered holding her close. She has never flinched before in any of their previous arguments. As he kept kissing her forehead, he saw her eye start to be purple.

“Lori, what is that on your eye?”

Lori freeze realizing that the makeup she put on earlier was coming off from the crying. “It’s nothing, Tony.”

“Yes it is Lori, what the hell happened to your eye and don’t lie!"Tony said examining her face. Lori closed her eyes as she knew there was no way of getting out of this.

"Don’t get mad Tony.”

“Depends on what it is. Lori, you better tell me everything!”

Lori took a deep breath, “M-Mark hit me.”

“HE WHAT?!”

“I said don’t get mad!”

“Don’t get mad? DON’T GET MAD?! HE PUT HIS HANDS ON YOU!” Tony yelled pulling away from Lori. “J.A.R.V.I.S prep my suit!”

“No Tony!"Lori cried placing her hand on his chest."I’m fine Tony. I’m okay!”

“No you’re not Lori, he put his hands on you. I’m going to kill him!” Tony argued trying to walk away but Lori grabbed him and placed her forehead on his.

“I understand it all honey I do. But right now, I need you. I’m scared and I just want to be in your arms.” Lori whimpered hoping that her loving boyfriend would just hold her. Tony picked her up bridal style going into the bedroom.

After Tony placed Lori back onto her feet, she was able to change clothes.

“Sit on the counter so I can check your eye.” Tony sigh from the bathroom. Lori walked in with one of his shirts, sitting on the counter like he asked. She flinched as he touched upon her face.

“I hate seeing you like this Lori. I feel as if I’m not doing my job to protect you. I should’ve been there.”

“Tony don’t beat yourself up about it. I should be apologizing because I should’ve told you when it first happened. I just got scared.”

“Well, I promise to protect you no matter what. I love you, Lori.”

“I love you too Tony.”

They shared a kiss as Lori wrapped her arms around his neck.

————
“Good Morning Kasey.” Lori greeted with a smile to the rude receptionist. Kasey was looking down on her phone.

“Ugh.”

“Ms.Kasey?” Tony asked leaning forward on the desk.

“What do you-.” She snapped looking up but saw the owner of the company staring back. “M-Mr. Stark, my apologies I thought you were-”

Tony stepped back wrapping his arm around Lori’s waist. “You thought I was my wife?” He kissed Lori’s forehead. “You’re fired and your replacement should be coming in any moment.”

“B-But.” The couple walked away leaving her a stuttering mess. Do you know many other jobs you can work if you worked at Stark industries? All you have to do is get a letter of recommendation. If you get fired, other high jobs won’t even look at you.

Lori pointed at everyone that was rude to her and Tony had them fired and escorted off the premises immediately. She kissed Tony’s lips.

“Thank you so much for this.”

Mark walked up to them before Tony could reply. “Tony, my man.”

Tony just stared at him, slowly letting go of Lori’s hand. In one swift movement, He punched Mark onto the ground. “That’s for laying hands on my wife!”

He gestured towards security, “ Get this punk ass off my premises!”

Lori pulled Tony into her office. She sat on top of the desk while he was walking around in circles still pissed off. “Baby calm down please.”

“I can’t, he hurt you and I want to kill him.”

Lori walked up to him wrapped her arms around his waist, placing her head on his chest. “Baby..”

He sighs taking a deep breath,“ I’m calm, I’m calm.”

“Good.” Lori smiled softly then placed her lips onto his. Out of instinct, Tony wrapped his arms around her waist. She grabbed his hand gliding down to her ass. He smirked pulling from the kiss.

“It’s like that now Mrs. Stark?”

Lori bit her lip. “It is.”

He placed his lips back onto hers, gripping her ass as well. They fell back onto the couch. Lori used her free hand to unbuckle his hands. She kissed down his neck, rubbing his now hard print.

Tony gulped “J.A.R.V.I.S put the privacy windows up!”

“Armoni wake your ass up so we can go to the courthouse.” Tilly hit the door waking up Armoni from her sleep.

The teenager groaned not wanting to be bothered. She rolled over trying to get her phone but remembered they took it. It’s been two weeks since the incident at the tower and it’s been hell.

“Armoni didn’t Tilly tell your ass to get up?!” Her father sounded off at the door. It was locked because the way he has been acting makes Armoni feel weird around him.

She didn’t respond but just rubbed her eyes. The door was kicked in. Yeah, you read right.

“What the fuck??” Armoni yelled getting out the bed, trying to hurry up to put on shorts. Her father gave her a sly look which made her skin crawl.

(Y'all I can’t bring myself to write that. It’s nasty and it makes me mad af. Just know his nasty ass touched her!)

Armoni cried putting on her outfit. She didn’t want to wear it because she felt so disgusted with herself. “Armoni let’s go!” Tilly yelled from downstairs.

She walked downstairs holding herself close. That man licked his lips watching her walk downstairs.

“Only reason why I’m letting you wear your whore clothes so we can win this trial. If they ask you anything, you tell them that you’re happy with us. I need this money, that’s the only reason why I got your whore ass.” Tilly played with the ends of Armoni’s hair as they walked towards the car. Armoni bit her lip trying to hold in her tears.

—————–

The press was hot outside as the three walked into the courthouse. Tony, Steve, Natasha, Bucky, Sam, and Wanda sat in all black near the front. Bucky hit Steve on the shoulder when he saw Armoni walk into the room. Steve instantly sat up, turning around to see her. When he spotted her, Steve got up making his way over to his daughter.

“Sweetheart…”

He was cut off by her mother. “She’s not your daughter so don’t talk to her like she is.”

“With all due respect ma'am.”

“You heard what my wife said.” Armoni’s father moved forward into Steve’s face. The two held an intense glare until the bailiff called the court to order.

“Please rise. The Court of the Second Judicial Circuit, Criminal Division, is now in session, the Honorable Judge Smith presiding.”

—Skip, Skip, Skip—–

“Prosecution, you may call your first witness.”

Their Attorney spoke up “Thank you, your Honor. I call to the stand Armoni’s mother, Tilly.”

The trial lasted all morning until around 3 p.m. The Judge called for recess. Armoni stayed quiet the whole time. Scared from the threat her father gave.

“Armoni?” Wanda’s comforting voice came from the side of her while she got a sip of water from the fountain. She quickly stood up, looking around to see if her father was around.

“Hey, Hey what’s wrong? You’re freaking out about something.” She grabbed her hand but she moved it which hurt Wanda’s feelings a bit. “Armoni what’s wrong so I can help you?”

Armoni looked around nervously one more time and once not seeing her parents in view. She spilled the beans.

“He did what?!?!”

It took every strength in Wanda not to show everyone the Scarlett Witch. “Cap.” She held onto Armoni’s hand as they walked in the courtroom.

“Hey! What’s she doing with my daughter?!!” Tilly questioned trying to make her way to them but the security guard stood in the way. The judge stayed quiet trying to see everything unravel.

“Wanda? Armoni can’t be over here.” Steve tried to abide by the rules so he could seem like a fit parent. He noticed the tears in Armoni’s eyes. He instantly went into papa bear mode.

“What’s wrong Armoni? What happened??”

Armoni gripped onto Wanda’s hand.“Nothing I’m fine Steve.” She could feel the holes being burned into her back.

“If it’s something that needs to be known in the trial, you have to tell us. I promise no one will hurt you. I won’t even let them get close.” Steve spoke in a comforting way using his thumb to wipe her tears. Her behavior reminded him of how she was when she first moved into the tower.

“Armoni you have to help us so you can come back. Nobody’s going to hurt you.” Natasha placed a hand on her lower back.

“Everything’s going to be okay Armoni. We promise, just tell us what happened.” Sam reassured silently hoping that it was something bad so her parents can go down.

“Pinky Promise?” She whispered holding out her finger to the team. Tony wrapped his finger around hers.

“Pinky Promise. I’ll sue them for every penny they have.”

“He told me if I told anyone, he would hurt them and I don’t want him to hurt you guys. I’m scared.” Armoni sobbed shaking her head. Bucky hated seeing his niece like this, it hurt him.

“Armoni what are you talking about? What did he do??”

Armoni took a deep breath, tears rolled down her cheek. “He touched me.” The team held different emotions trying to process what the hell she just said.

“He… he touched you… Where?"Bucky clenched his jaw, getting angry in a matter of seconds. Armoni pointed at her skirt. It clicked to Steve in a matter of seconds. He ran over to her father throwing a nice punch to his face.

"YOU TOUCHED MY DAUGHTER?!?!”

All hell broke loose in that courtroom. Armoni held onto Wanda, crying. Bucky was being held back by Sam so he wouldn’t make things worse. Tony and Natasha were trying to get Steve off the man but Rogers wasn’t budging. The judge kept hitting the pallet hoping to catch everyone’s attention.

Tony and Natasha plus 6 security guards finally were able to get Steve off. “What did he say? What happened??!” The judge yelled at everyone in the room. “That man touched my daughter, your honor. I kicked his ass cause he touched my daughter!!” Steve yelled hoping everyone in the world could hear.

Shocked, the judge turned her attention towards a crying Armoni. “Is what he said is true Ms. Armoni??” All she could do was nod her head.

“She’s lying? That little whore is lying!! She came onto my husband!” Tilly screamed hoping to keep the act up so she could get money. Wanda placed her hand over Armoni’s ear.

“She’s lying? A 16-YEAR-OLD GIRL IS LYING ABOUT BEING TOUCHED BY YOUR RAPIST HUSBAND? YOURE PATHETIC!” Wanda exploded keeping a good grip on Armoni. Wasn’t nobody getting close to her.

“Order in the court! ORDER!” The judge hit the pallet, upset herself. “I’ve heard enough! In the case of The State of New York versus The Avengers. Find the defendant not guilty of the charge of legal adoption of Ms.Armoni Rogers. You’re going to jail, Mr. and Mrs. Lo.”

—————–

Alongday.

Armoni and her father, Steve Rogers, sat on the couch watching her favorite movie. Legally Blonde

“Princess are you okay?” Steve asked for the fifth time while they’ve been on the couch. She wasn’t bothered by it and answered genuinely every time.

“Yes, I’m okay.”

“I am so sorry I let you down sweetheart. In those two weeks, you weren’t here was my personal hell. I’m sorry for even letting them take you. I wish I was there to prevent what happened to you. I’m so glad to have you as my daughter, I promise to protect you from everything I can. I love you my butterfly.” Steve held his daughter close, placing a kiss on her forehead. This is what real love from a father and from a family feels like and she was grateful for every bit.

“I love you more Dad. I’m so grateful to have you in my life.”

She hugged her dad’s neck tightly.

I hope you guys enjoyed it. I did.

Steve beat his ass.

I don’t know when the next time I’m going to write something because college gets overwhelming a bit.

It was day five into your seven-day window of opportunity and your hope was all but gone. You apparently weren’t allowed anywhere unsupervised, which, although unsurprising, was a pain in the arse and really hadn’t helped with the whole hacking in thing. There was one blind spot in the room, which so far had been no help and utterly useless because Stark refused to leave you be for even a second.

And you were pretty sure his eyes had been following you around the whole time.

You glanced up, making eye contact. Yep. The super-hot businessman with a genius that intimidated you clearly had figured it out. Why else would he be watching you incessantly unless he didn’t trust you?

“I need you to clear out my emails. I don’t care what they say, what’s being advertised, or what urgent thing is happening; just delete them all.”

You nodded. This was your moment of opportunity, if he would stop watching you. Setting yourself up behind his terminal, you lowered yourself into his office chair. Of course he had a glass desk; it couldn’t be that easy.

“Tony.”

Your head snapped towards the door. Ah. That was someone you hadn’t seen here before.

“Rhodey-bear!” Stark threw open his arms, big grin on his face as his attention was diverted.

Right, memory stick, left pocket, just need to slip that into the terminal. You snuck a look at the pair, who were still deep in discussion. The program loaded up, black window popping up and you cursed yourself for not making a GUI to disguise the whole thing.

“Another one?” The man, Rhodey, in his very smart army uniform wrinkled his nose.

You kept yourself hunched over the screens, acutely aware of the shiny metal robot behind you that was no doubt reflecting everything. Nothing suspicious here, nothing wrong, don’t look too closely.

“Pepper insisted.”

Fuck. There was no way. You took another look, face dropping as you recognised the man. Of course James Rhodes was bestest of pals with Tony Stark. You just hoped that it had been so long that he had no idea who you were anymore. It’s not like you had been particularly close with him. He had been friends with Ghost, and you’d joined them on a couple nights out whilst on tour. But that was it.

“And you usually do what Pepper says?”

Okay.83%. Not bad, not bad. Just another 17%, then you could get out of here on the pretence of fetching coffee or something and make sure that James Rhodes did not recognise you.

“No, but she was right in this case.”

Was this is what the elephant felt like? You tried to make yourself as inconspicuous as possible, but your unfortunately pink dress wasn’t playing ball.

“Tony, did you not learn from Naples?” Rhodes was becoming vexed, and you weren’t sure how he had managed to keep a lid on it for so long.

“Which time? First or second?”

Aha!100% - COMPLETE flashed up at you and you yanked out the memory stick, shutting all the application windows to ensure that you left nothing to be found.

“I’m getting coffee. Mr Stark, Colonel, do you want anything?” The men brushed you off, just as you had wanted, and you rushed to the nearest balcony.

You just had to hope that there were no cameras or microphones out there.

He picked up on the first ring. “Right, Ghost, I need you to check my laptop. Left hand corner, does it say connected?”

“Yes.”

You clapped a hand to your mouth, stifling the loud victory whoop that was threatening to break free. “I know you can’t see me right now, but I am totally doing a victory dance. I can’t believe I hacked into Tony Stark’s system.”

“I can, patita.” Ghost’s voice is quiet enough to be whispering a secret, but everything he says seems to be secretive. Something special only you’re allowed to hear.

“Right, now don’t touch the program until I get back tonight; I don’t trust any of you guys.” You exhaled softly through your mouth, trying to regulate your excitement. “I fucking did it!”

“We’ll see you tonight.” Arctic’s voice cut through your mental celebration, bringing you back to reality. You nodded, forgetting he couldn’t see you, before quickly responding with an affirmative. Way to bring the mood down.

:.

By the time you returned to the lab, Stark was on the couch, nursing a very full glass of whisky. His cufflinks were off, shirt rolled up to the elbows and unbuttoned to halfway down his chest. Fuck. Bright eyes looked at you, still sober, and you guessed that Rhodes must have only just left.

“Mr Stark?”

He beckoned you over, motioning you closer until you were kneeling in front of him, eyes in line with each other as he reclined. Stark leans forward, brown irises a mix of caramel and chocolate and every shade in between and you feel like you could drown. Your lips were close enough that even breathing might cause them to touch and you weren’t sure you’d stop him.

He pressed his lips firmly to yours, and you murmured some incoherent protests, really not wanting to break free. One hand cupped the side of your neck, promising so much more, and the other slipped down to the small of your back, resting just above your arse. He was just as good a kisser as the tabloids gossiped.

You pushed away. This was wrong.

“Mr Stark, we can’t. You’re my boss! This is – I swear that you’re not allowed to – isn’t this inappr-o-priate?” Your voice rose half an octave when Stark’ hand finally moved down and pinched your arse.

“That’s not a problem,” Stark followed you up, pressing you against his worktable. As thigh brushed against thigh and hip knocked against the edge of the table, you realised just how far this had gone. “If that’s what you’re worried about.”

“I- I just-” The words failed to escape you as you scrabbled around in your mind for a coherent thought, far too focused on the hand creeping up your thigh. You wanted this too badly to voluntarilybullshit your way out of sex.

“You talk too much.”

Stark pushed you down against the table, and all you could see was that stupidly hot smirk and brown eyes with pupils blown wide. And then you were being kissed again.

Arctic was going to kill you.

:.

Stark looked up at you from between your thighs, smirking at you as your legs trembled and toes curled. It was like having the devil beneath you, every sinful moan and dark thought coaxed out with that silver tongue.

“Shall we take this to a proper bedroom?”

As he pulled you upstairs, you noticed the glorious view of the sunset, purples and oranges streaking across the sky and highlighting the clouds. The sunset.

“Mr Stark, I need to go.”

“Hm?” He raised an eyebrow, biting softly against the side of your neck.

You moaned, eyelids fluttering. “I really, mm, actually-”

“Jesus, just shut up!” But there was no real malice behind his words as he managed to wrangle you into his bedroom.

Stark had the biggest bed you’ve ever seen. Unsurprisingly. And, oh lord, the silkiest sheets you’ve ever felt.

His lips traced a trail of fire as they peppered over your skin, and you wished you had some way of pretending to Arctic that you really hadn’t wanted this. But when Stark found that sweet spot on your neck and sucked so hard you saw stars, you knew that anything otherwise would be an utter lie. Because Stark was a god in the sheets.

“Is this-” You cut yourself off with a muffled moan as his teeth grazed over that one spot. “Is this typical Stark Industries performance review?”

Stark paused, lifting himself up onto his hands to look at you. “I don’t usually sleep with my aides; Pepper doesn’t let me. But you don’t count.”

“Oh, I don’t?” You raised your eyebrows. “Wow, that really does wonders for my self-esteem.”

“Oh, shh, you’re special.” Stark was finally done with pulling your underwear off your ankles, and you watched as they sailed idly through the air to some corner. He had far too much ease in every move, and you cursed yourself.

Idiot. Or as Ghost would say, stupida, with that little smirk of his. You had heard of Tony Stark’s reputation, the amount of bed partners, and you’d fallen right into it.

“Take off your shirt.”

You got entangled in the sleeves and neck, as Stark snorted at you. You were far too busy figuring out what went wrong to focus on the fingers tracing the edge of your bra strap. He unclipped it, and chucks it in some direction, the strapless-ness far too helpful to him in his mission.

“F-fuck,” you stuttered, as the cold air hit your nipples.

He smirked as you achieved freedom from your shirt. “Well, that is the plan.”

“I – I don’t want you thinking I do this all the time. Well, the sex part, yes, but also no. But also I don’t usually make a habit of sleeping with my boss. In all honesty I think it’s a bit inappropriate-”

Stark cut you off. “Has anyone ever told you that you talk too much?”

He pulled off his very nice silk tie, giving it an experimental tug and tying a knot in the middle. “Open wide.”

The knot settled in your mouth, and he tied it firmly round the back of your head. “Much better.”

You attempted to form some sort of protestation but all that came out was unintelligible mumbling.

Stark chuckled softly. Prick.

“INTRUDER ALERT!” What sounded remarkably like a fire alarm starts echoing in the corridors and Stark rolled his eyes, moment broken. The thing is that you can appreciate the sarcastic, incredible AI, but, as literally every movie with a house run by an AI can tell you, it’s a badidea.

“Oh for-” Stark cuts himself off, rubbing his face. “JARVIS, give me visuals. And where’s my suit?”

The AI is practically acidic. “Do you mean the Armani suit in your cupboard, sir? Or the one whose tie is currently ruined by your aide’s saliva?”

Are you being baited by a disembodied voice? With a British accent?

“Behave, JARVIS, where is my red and gold sweatsuit?”

“Your titanium armour is in the suitcase under your bed, sir.” And you imagined you could almost hear the testiness in his AI’s voice.

Stark turned to you with that now too familiar smirk. “He hates when I call the armour my ‘sweatsuit’.”

“Now,” he murmured, lips brushing against that repeated spot on your neck. “Who are you? And how did you manage to get in here?”

The bed tilted as Stark jumped up, and it took a moment for you to regain your bearings. When you found it in yourself to sit up, you were confronted by the windows-turned-massive-computer-screen. Yep, that was definitely Arctic, Delila and Ghost.

You’d think that they didn’t trust you.

And really they could have let you finish off in here. Talk about insensitivity to your needs.

“One of my subroutines is not functioning properly due to tampering; it appears that someone has tried to hack into my system, sir.” The AI’s voice was even frostier, if that was possible, and you tried to muster a smile, forgetting about the tie in your mouth. You settled for a shrug as you pulled the silk from your mouth.

Stark was in his suit by this point, faceplate flipped up to convey every ounce of his disappointment. “I would be impressed, but knowing my own system, I would say that it’s a near impossible task. I leave the possibility for it open because I am not without humility.”

“Ohreally sir? I had-” And JARVIS was cut off; the alarms stopped blaring; Arctic, Delila and Ghost disappeared from sight; and everything went dark.

“Nice job, but there’s something called auxiliary power. Which should turn back on in 3, 2, 1…”

Nothing happened. Stark frowned. Pointed an angry mechanical finger at you. “You stay here.”

You smirked.

Again, house dependent on AI? Bad idea. Just as easy to break into as any other house when you get rid of the AI.

:.

You stumbled into the living room wearing just your underwear, because when Ghost and Arctic were pointing guns at people and Delila no doubt had her knives out, you needed to move quickly. It was a bit of a miracle that you found any underwear at all, given that Stark had thrown them in opposite directions across the room.

You skidded to a halt. “Huh.”

There were definitely people here that you hadn’t seen here before.

Arctic gaped at you, and Ghost widened his eyes slightly, which in Ghost-language was pretty much the same thing. Delila, on the other hand, seemed totally unsurprised and you weren’t sure whether you hated that or not.

“Y/N?” Arctic was the first to address you.

You raised a hand weakly. “Hi Arctic.”

“You missed your check-in.” Arctic’s frown deepened. “Ghost had to figure out your program.”

You snuck a peek at Ghost, who seems totally unperturbed by the whole situation on the surface, but you were pretty sure you could see the disappointment in his eyes.

“Yeah.” You scratched your neck, heat rising to your cheeks. You coughed lightly. “ About that…”

“You know these people?” The red-head deigned to acknowledge you; although she seemed to be locked in some sort of staring contest with Ghost.

“Y/N?” Stark echoed, mirroring Arctic’s frown.

“Uh-” But you were thankfully cut off from having to explain yourself when 200lbs of pure muscle mass and self confidence comes running into the room. Your gaze raked over the suit and the shield; no fucking way.

“I heard the intruder alarm,” Captain America paused, blinking a couple times as he caught sight of you. He looked at Stark. And back to you. “Stark, why is there a half-naked woman in the living room?”

Stark groaned. “The real question is why isn’t the half-naked woman in my bedroom where I left her and told her to stay? English is your first language, right?”

You looked at Arctic for some help, but he just raised his eyebrows, seeming far too amused. You were never going to live this down. “Right, can we just lower our guns- and repulsors – and shields? And talk like proper adults?”

“Do you know these people?”

You grimaced, offering Stark a weak smile. “Yeah?”

“They broke in. Carrying weapons.” The red-head was a little less inclined to step away from the whole prospect of violence; she reminded you a bit of Ghost. In a good way? You weren’t sure.

“Yeah, they do tend to do that. I mean, my main gal Delila has pulled a knife out of her bra on me before. It was impressive. Also very scary. But no one’s going to harm anyone?”

You watched as weapons were lowered and breathed a sigh of relief. Maybe you should become a hostage negotiator with how well this was currently going.

“So, I’m going to go put on some clothes and I’ll be right back.” You were itching to cover yourself up; you hadn’t expected quite so many people to be in the room.

“Oh, shame, I like how all that nothing looks on you,” Stark’s smirk was evident in his tone, and your cheeks flamed.

You made your hasty retreat.

Behind you in the living room, you heard Captain America saying, “Who’s that, Stark?” and a moment later “-And why were they naked?”

:.

By the time you had returned in Stark’s discarded shirt (in all fairness, it had been the only thing you could find), the weapons had been raised again.

“Woah, can we just please stop pointing weapons at each other?”

Captain America, (you still couldn’t quite believe that it was actually Captain America), sighed, lowering his shield. “She’s right; let’s resolve this properly.”

“Steve, they broke into our accommodation. With weapons. If anything they should be lowering their weapons.” The red-head was unimpressed with her orders, choosing to keep her pistol held high and you pulled a face.

Wait, hang on.

Theiraccommodation?

You whirled on Stark, accusative finger outstretched. “You lied to me; you said there was no one else living here.”

“I lied to you?” He spluttered. And in fairness you guessed that your lie had been a little bigger. But he had lied to the person you were meant to be, not to you as a liar. If that made sense.

“It was meant to be confidential.” The red-head rolled her eyes. “But Nick is on his way so it’s not like it matters; you won’t be leaving here alive.”

“Romanoff, Stark, Barton, and Odinson, stand down.” Captain America made eye contact with you, and a shiver of intimidation ran through you. “I trust that you will make sure that your teammates do the same.”

You nodded, a little disconcerted by your sudden assumed power. “Arctic, please.”

Arctic held your gaze, frowning as he tried to discern whatever was behind your eyes. Did he really think that you would betray them? He glanced at Delila and Ghost who lowered their guns. You assumed Quintus was in position as a sniper, he hadn’t shown yet, but you hoped he had got the message.

“So,” You wrapped the shirt tighter around you, the cool night air unpleasant against your bare skin. You really should’ve found yourself more clothes. “What do we do now?”

“Anyone fancy a drink?” Stark stepped out of his suit, wandering over to the bar. Your gaze trailed shamelessly over his rippling muscles, his underwear the only piece of modesty. Yeah, there was no way you were regretting doing that.

“Stark.”

Captain America’s tone was low and almost dangerous; you’d never thought he’d be this intimidating. America’s poster boy always came across as kind and gentlemanly on TV, but you guessed that this probably wasn’t the best situation in which to make an impression.

“Y/N?” Stark turned to you, the corner of his lips twitching. “Although that probably isn’t your real name.”

You hesitated, eyes flickering to Arctic, who just raised an eyebrow.

“I’ll get you rum on the rocks.” Stark made up your mind for you, pouring out that very nice expensive brand he’d given you earlier. Fuck, if you had the opportunity to settle down, you might just give everything up for this. This was the life.

As you sipped at your rum, you became aware of gradually approaching whir of a helicopter. Mostly because everyone else had started to look around; you couldn’t pretend that you had excellent observation skills. Ah shit, that was probably their boss or something.

You glanced at the amber liquid, swirling around the ice.

Was it a good idea to-?

Well, liquid courage and all that. You took a large swig, hoping that no one was watching. Stark laughed, covering it with a cough as you gave him a glare.

The doors opened, and you jumped, quickly backing the rest of your drink. Maybe you had a problem. No, that was a thought path for another day.

Their boss wore a long dark coat and an eyepatch. Like an old 16th century pirate. But a lot more intimidating than kids books made them seem. He looked like the kind of person who would order the death of his closest friends without even blinking his eyes.

You shivered.

He scanned the room, single eye roving over each of your teammates in turn, before stopping on Arctic. “Arctic, I’ve heard of you and your team.”

You frowned. You were all supposedly dead, according to official records, so how the hell did he know of you?

Arctic crossed his arms, eyes narrowing. “Well it seems that you know all about us, so who the hell are you?”

“Nick Fury.”

No fucking way. Nick Fury didn’t exist. Nick Fury was a name whispered in back alleys and in stories to little mobster kids before going to bed to scare them. The criminal world’s bogeyman.

Arctic scoffed. “Nick Fury is an urban legend.”

“So is the man you’re hunting.”

:.

Arctic and Nick Fury disappeared into a conference room for what seemed like hours, leaving the rest of you in the living room. Stark was a wonderful waiter, topping up your glass without hesitation, presumably so he’d have a companion to descend into drunkenness with.

Delila’s glare kept you from sipping without thinking, her warning enough to make you place your glass down carefully on a coaster. No need to irritate anyone further by leaving marks on the oak tables (which looked more expensive than anything you’d touched before this week.) This week was really an insight into the finer things in life, and if you could take down the guy who had ruined your life at the same time as stealing a massive fortune, you wouldn’t be unhappy. You wanted an oak table that probably had costed more than what you had made in an entire year in the army.

Maybe you could get a job here. Well that was just wishful thinking.

Stark slipped into the free spot next to you on the sofa, his bare thigh brushing against yours, and you flushed. His shirt suddenly was a lot smaller, far more evidently ending at the top of your thigh.

You glanced at Ghost who was drilling a hole into the wall with his stare. You grimaced.

You had royally fucked this up.

The door opening drew all attention, heads snapping towards the sound of the hinges creaking as Fury and Arctic stepped into the room. They shook hands. You frowned.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I have a proposal for you.”

Insider (Part 1) (Tony Stark x reader)

Synopsis: Tony Stark is your only lead as a team, so you’re sent right into the lion’s den. Set after Avengers (2012)

SERIES MASTERLIST|MCU MASTERLIST|GENERAL MASTERLIST

“You’re insane!” You cried, spinning around to face the team. “I can’t take on Tony Stark’s system. The man’s a genius, it’d be easier to get a one on one with the President than hack into his computer. Arctic, you’ve gotta be kidding.”

Arctic shrugged, steepling his fingers as he leant back against the table. He glanced over at Delila, who nodded at him to speak.

“We haven’t had a lead that worked out in months, this might be our big break.”

You weren’t surprised, Arctic always agreed to do dumb shit if it was for a girl. Said girl stared you down, as if daring you to chicken out while fiddling with the point of her knife.

Girls with knives were always ridiculously hot but Delila scared you shitless. Plus you were pretty sure she was straight, and Arctic would kill you if you ever made a move. Which you wouldn’t, because especially right now, that knife in her hand looked like it could cut air.

“I thought you were supposed to be a genius as well,” Delila stabbed the knife into the edge of the table where it quivered, a bored expression flitting across her face.

You scoffed. “I am a genius, but this is Tony fuckingStark we’re talking about. The man basically invented personal security; he has a billion-dollar suit, and his house has the most advanced AI in the world in it.”

You were coming to your wits end; they were as willing to listen to you as a brick wall would be. You were wasting your breath on them.

You glanced back at Ghost, who just smirked and tilted his hat down.

Prick.

“I don’t get it. You’re either a genius and you can do this, or you can’t,” Delila pulled the knife out of the table and studied its point before pulling out a cloth to polish it. It was already shiny enough for you to be able to see your face in it, but you were pretty sure it was an intimidation tactic of some kind.

“You don’t get it! This is like.. like,” You paused, you hadn’t actually thought this through. “Like, okay, imagine that the Goliath operation was us battling some mutant gorillas, enhanced, so therefore a bit of a fight, but also gorillas so they’re not the brightest of animals. Now, Tony Stark has an AI which is the battle-hardened mutant gorillas, but without the physical form which is their weakness. And it’s got his brains so it’s incredibly smart, so they don’t have the other weakness of not being very bright.”

“An AI is made from code, right? Which is your specialty, may I remind you. This isn’t up for discussion.” Arctic butted in and you let your head drop onto the dented and scratched metal table, the thud echoing around the dingy, dusty warehouse they had found abandoned and were using as their makeshift base. “Don’t lose any braincells, we need those.”

:.

You weren’t sure how you had managed to let them talk you into this, maybe it was the fact that Tony Stark was undeniably attractive or that you wanted to pick the brains of arguably the biggest genius in technology at the moment. Sure, the latter was it. Anyway, this meant you had ended up where you stood now, clutching your briefcase in both hands to simulate anticipation, and waiting outside Miss Potts’ office. The CEO of Stark Enterprises. She had to be cutthroat to survive in the male-dominated tech industry and you couldn’t lie that perhaps the nervousness you were projecting wasn’t all acting.

“Hello, you’re here for the interview, right?” A ginger lady stuck her head round the door, softly smiling at you as she caught your eye. “I’m Pepper Potts, CEO of Stark Enterprises. I’m so glad you applied for this job.”

You hurried through the door Miss Potts held open for you, eyes widening a fraction as you took in the state-of-the-art office and the beautiful city skyline you could see out of the floor-to-ceiling window stretching across one wall of the spacious room. You were motioned into a plush sofa chair across from her and she tapped on the keyboard.

“So, Y/N Warren, am I right?” You nodded, your first name was common enough and had never officially been linked to you, which meant you could use it as part of the alias. It also made it a hell of a lot easier to answer to. “Now, I can see that you graduated from MIT summa cum laude and had a stint in the US Army. Could you explain to me why exactly you left the Army?”

Internally, you froze, you didn’t know that Arctic had added that to your fake profile and you cursed the captain with all the rude words you could think of in your head. Outwardly, you smiled shyly, pausing to consider the question.

“I guess, umm… In the army, I was Base Ops for my team, but the rest of the team there were very… macho, believing that fighting embodied what we were meant to be doing? They kinda thought that because the fighting I carried out was on a computer and not physical, it was lesser, like I was lower than them. So, I found that the whole team dynamic didn’t really end up working for me and I got an honourable discharge, after paying off the mountains of student debt I had amassed from MIT and went on the search for a new job.” You had pulled upon old army memories to spin the tale you fed to Miss Potts, days you hadn’t really thought of since the government recognised your skills and put you on Special Ops with a team who actually appreciated and understood your work. Well, they appreciated it when you weren’t running your mouth off about nothing in particular.

“Huh,” Miss Potts seemed surprised, her features twisting from a polite smile to a genuine one which broke across her face. “Why exactly did you apply for this job then?”

“I’m interested with just working under Mr Stark; his inventions are ground-breaking and the fact that he created an AI as young as he did proves his genius. Plus, I’m sure I could make an attempt at keeping up with Mr Stark, something not many people could say,” You ran a hand through your messy hair as Miss Potts laughed.

“You and Tony certainly match in your modesty.”

The mild suspicion that had remained in her eyes dissipated and her posture became more relaxed and less rigid. You cracked a grin, relieved that you’d at least got through this round. The next bit was going to be more difficult.

“Would you say I have a shot at getting this job?” No need to beat about the bush, really, you were a busy person. Arctic would kill you if you took a whole day just to come back and say that you’d gotten nowhere.

“Well, you have all the necessary qualifications, and you seem like the first candidate who would be able to handle Mr Stark, but I’m not the one who has the final say. I’ll introduce you to him but a lot of hopefuls with potential get the boot because Mr Stark finds that they irritate him or aren’t up to the standards he needs.” Miss Potts gathered her clipboard and a couple of sheets of paperwork before heading to the door and indicating that you should follow. She liked you; you had spirit and a bit of fire in you which meant you and Tony could gel quite well.

:.

Tony was deep in thought as he puzzled over the hydro mechanism of the engine he was building. The valve pipe was under a lot of strain due to the high-water pressure and the problem had stumped him for a while now. JARVIS interrupted him from his reverie, his screen suddenly filled with a security camera feed.

“Tony, get your ass out of the labs, I’ve found you an assistant,” Tony could see a figure hovering next to Pepper, but the cameras didn’t give him enough definition to pick up your features.

“How many times have I told you that I don’t need a babysitter, Peps? I’m a big boy. Big boy in a shiny metal suit. And I’ve got a Rhodey; I already have a babysitter. Even if this one looks cute.”

"You’re acting like a petulant child. Stop it and come and meet Miss Warren.” Pepper rolled her eyes as a beep signalled that the audio hadn’t gone through. “Miss Warren, we’ll go and see him if he’s not going to come to us.”

She pressed the pad of her thumb against the biometric scanner, a red light flashing to signal that it hadn’t been approved.

“I regret to inform you, Miss Potts, that Mr Stark has removed your access rights.”

She gave you a look and you cracked a grin. “Sorry, Mr Stark, but that seems like an awfully childish move for someone who doesn’t need a babysitter.”

There was no beep and you wondered what Stark’s immediate reaction had been. Static crackled over the speaker, and you wrinkled your nose, waiting to be told to leave the building. Arctic was going to murder you; you always fucked things up by saying stupid things.

The door slid open in front of you silently; Pepper’s eyebrows shooting up before she gestured for you to follow her. You descended into the lab, glancing around at the high-tech equipment and discarded parts in the corner. A bitter sensation twisted at your chest, and it took you a moment to realise that it was a nostalgia for the life you could have had without all this being hunted business. But then again, you’d never swap your team for anything else.

“Tony, this is Miss Warren.”

You smiled at the man, breath catching in your throat. He was even more attractive in person.

“Pleasure to meet you,” Stark smirked, extending a hand to you. Of course he knew. Or maybe he just assumed everyone was attracted to him.

You shook it eagerly; you couldn’t deny that you were slightly intimidated by being in the same room as such a genius. “Likewise.”

He gave you another once-over and turned back to Pepper. “Fine.”

“Fine?” Pepper repeated, tone incredulous. You were equally surprised that it had been this easy; the way he’d been fighting having an assistant moment earlier had suggested that you had no chance.

“Yes, alright, Pep, I’ll take her as my assistant,” Stark sighed. It was clearly a long-running argument, but the exasperation in his voice was tinged with affection. His gaze hardened for a second. “As long as she isn’t another Natalie Rushman.”

Pepper slid the file over to him. “I checked that she’s not from the same organisation.”

They’d done a background check. Thank God or whatever was up there that you’d been able to get into all the official servers to insert false records, otherwise you would have been rumbled. And the last time that had happened, you’d ended up at the top of a skyscraper, cornered by security.

Stark flicked through a couple of pages before tossing it to one side and leaning forward, hands clasped together as he stared you down.

“Thanks Pepper, you can get back to your busy schedule now.” His gaze didn’t waver, and you did your best to hold eye contact. For some reason, you were pretty sure that this was a test. Albeit a weird one.

As the door upstairs slid open and shut, you waited for him to make the first move.

“So, Miss Warren,” he raised an eyebrow, satisfied by what he’d supposedly found. “MIT, then in the army. Bit of a weird step to take.”

You shrugged. “Not with the mountain of student debt I got into. Army paid for it as long as I went into their Communications department for a few tours.”

Not all of us were lucky enough to have rich parents. You bit back that comment, realising that you’d probably already pushed it enough earlier.

He pushed back his chair and stood up, making his way over to the other side of the room. Your eyes followed him, finally noticing everything else in the hangar. God, it was any nerd’s wet dream.

Were you sure you couldn’t come work here permanently?

Delila’s knives came to mind, and you shook that thought away.

“Come on,” Stark called to you, and you snapped out of your daze, rushing to his side. You really were no good at this whole assistant thing.

He handed you a screwdriver, nail between his lips as he fiddled with a strange looking contraption on the table. You frowned slightly. With the amount of top-range technology at his fingertips, you’d have thought that he would be less hands on. But then again he created a metal suit in a cave. In the desert. After being kidnapped and needing an operation.

“Take a look at this.” Stark turned the object towards you, seemingly just a hunk of metal with one joint and a mismatch of wires poking out of it.

“Can I?” You reached out a tentative hand, fingers hovering millimetres above the surface. He nodded; eyes narrowed as he watched you turn it over. You had the funny feeling that if you turned it the wrong way he’d kick you out.

Your eyebrows shot up. “You’re using cylindrical topology? And, let me guess, you miscalculated the opposing torque so failed to offset the centrifugal force.”

He looked impressed; surely the engineering degree gave away that you at least knew something. And this was basic stuff.

“So, what’s your opinion on Ex Machina?”

You grabbed a flat-headed screwdriver and began prying off the panel. “Ex Machina? Isn’t that the one where the billionaire has sex with robots? Is this your way of warning me?”

“Or an offer to join me?” At that you looked up, locking eyes, and pulling a face. You didn’t actually think he was being serious, but it was an unpleasant image all the same.

“Well, thanks, but I’m good. I will also remember to knock before entering any room now.”

He cracked a grin. “The offer will always stand.”

:.

“So, how was it?”

Arctic had barely let you in through the door before bombarding you with questions.

You rubbed your face, slumping into a chair and sipping at the glass of whatever Ghost had just shoved into your hand. Ah, the cheap rum. “Not even the nice stuff?”

Ghost shrugged, slipping back to his perch in the corner.

“That man’s security systems are unbelievable. Several-years-ahead, almost out-of-this-world insane.” You took another slug of the liquid and grimaced. You didn’t understand how Ghost could stomach it. “And he has an invisible voice watching over every room.”

“So what? You can’t do it?” Delila smirks; you had a feeling she had always wanted to make you feel this small. “I thought you were supposed to be the best.”

Ah, there was the killing blow. You clutched at your heart, forcing an expression of exaggerated pain. “I can.”

“It can’t be too difficult, he’s just a businessman,” Delila continued, unfazed by your dramatics.

“Sure, put pressure on the one person who can actually do this. See how that turns out for you.” You paused, rethinking her words. “Have you forgotten the whole Iron Man side to things?”

“So, are you sure you can do it? We can’t afford to be wasting any effort on this if it’s not feasible.”

You groaned. “I just need more time”

“You have a week.” Arctic frowned, Delila smoothing away the expression with a soft kiss. Eurgh, they made you sick. Soppy romance just made you feel a little ill.

“I know, I know, I just-” You buried your head in your hands, muffling your words. “It’ll be fine, I can do it.”

Quintus patted you on the shoulder and you mustered some semblance of a smile.

:.

“I have your coffee,” you called out, balancing as you tried to push the door open with one foot. You caught sight of a video call disappearing from sight as Stark spun around, wide grin already plastered on.

“Who were you talking to?” You waited to reach Stark’s side before asking the question.

“No one,” he replied, far too quickly. His lie would have been less obvious if he had had a neon sign flashing over him saying ‘Liar! Liar!’. You had a funny feeling that he would be a great liar if he could be bothered to put any effort into it, but you assumed he just enjoyed fucking with people’s minds a little too much for that.

You didn’t want to press him about it, but you still had questions. “Oh, I was wondering if we’re the only ones in the house; like is it just you that lives here?”

“Yeah, just me. Luckily I’ve got you to keep me company… Why are you asking?”

You shook your head; no need to make him suspicious. “Just thought I’d heard other footsteps earlier. Coffee?”

“Mm, yes please.” Stark murmured as he invaded your personal space. Okay, definitely hitting on you.

You pushed the cup into his hands and took several steps away. No sleeping with your boss. You were pretty sure that was quite a common rule, and you were determined to follow it.

:.

It had taken a day to map out the various cameras in the house and their blind spots, or lack thereof. This had to be one of the best security systems you’d ever seen. Unsurprising, but you had hoped that with the safety net of his metal suit, Stark would have skimped on the stuff like cameras.

It was another couple of days until you started to lose hope.

“I can’t do this,” you stared at your computer screen, begging the plans to just give you some help. Ghost rubbed small circles between your shoulders, not saying a word.

Your program was perfect; with nothing other than just waiting to do, you had made sure that the code was airtight. But with no opportunity, crying now seemed like the appropriate and respectable response.

“Delila was right,” you groaned. “I am a failure.”

A light thwack on the back of your head broke you out of your self-deprecation as Ghost just gave you a simple look. “You can do it, patita. Don’t lose hope.”

MCU MASTERLIST|GENERAL MASTERLIST

Part 1 (11-01-2022)

Part 2 (18-01-2022)

Pairing: Tony Stark x reader

Prompt: While Tony is fighting off Thanos, you find out that you are pregnant. With Tony getting back in terrible shape, you hold off on revealing your news until it catches up with you.

I watch as Tony disappears into the air to follow Peter. A big circular monstrosity floats into the sky and I can tell that it is their target. Hopefully this won’t take too long, Tony is supposed to be in a sense ‘retired.’ Sure he still helps out, but ever since the Avengers broke up Tony has remained on the back burner after the initial months following the event.

Back in black, I hit the sack

I’ve been too long…

“Tony?” I realize my voice comes out more panicky than I meant to. I take a deep breath and try again. “What is going on?”

“I’m going to space.”

The words hit me in the gut harder than any blow I’ve encountered in my life. Already tears are forming in my eyes and I quickly try to blink them away. He has to come back, he promised he wasn’t going to do this big stuff anymore. We just got married, we’ve been talking about having kids. It can’t be over before we even try to start.

“(Y/N) I love you.” He’s scared and his voice shows it.

“I love you.” I squeak out, but when I pull the phone from my ear it says the call has been disconnected. There is a chance he didn’t hear me. No, no he heard me. He knows that I love him, and he’ll be back so I can tell him that for the rest of my life.

Taking in a few more deep breathes, I manage to get my breathing under control. Bruce mumbles something about making a call and disappears further into the park. I might as well go and try to see if there is anyone down here that I can help, while Tony is up there.

Walking only a few steps forward, a wave of nausea rolls through my stomach. I try to breathe it down but it doesn’t work. A more intense wave pierces through me as I run for the nearest trash can. I barely make it as I release what was left of my breakfast. The combined smell from the trash and my vomit are not helping. Being sure that I am empty I propel my shaky limbs to a bench nearby.

I don’t know what is wrong with me. I’ve been a little more tired recently but it’s nothing that I haven’t been able to handle. But I have never thrown up from nerves. In the past I have always been a pacer. I’ve walked tunnels in our floors when Tony has been on a mission. This is new, unless…

I count backwards to my last menstrual cycle. I do it a second time, a third time. Surely I am counting wrong, but no matter how many times I do it, I get the same result. I am very late this month, by two weeks. For some this may be normal, but not for me. I have never been later than by a few days.

Quickly I find a store, grab what I need and practically run home. I’m in autopilot. I’ve taken the test but I don’t remember it. All I can do is stare at my reflection for any noticeable changes. Aside from the slight exhaustion in my eyes, I find none. I glance at the timer and see I still have time before the results are ready. My fingers grab for my toothbrush and attempt to scrub away what is left over from the park.

Ding ding…. Ding ding…

I click the timer off but refrain from glancing at the stick on the counter. What do I do if it is positive? Will I be crushed if it is negative? Tony and I have only talked about kids a few times, but neither of us have clearly said that we are officially trying now.

Taking a deep breath, I allow my eyes to peak at the result. Two pink lines shine back up at me. I’m pregnant. Tony and I are having a baby. Tears stream down my cheeks but the brightest smile looks back at me from the bathroom mirror. I’m pregnant. Tony and I are having a baby. I’m going to be a mom; he’s going to be a dad.

My hand shoots for my phone and I quickly dial Tony. An automated voice tells me that he is out of range. I scoff, of course space is out of range. Aliens couldn’t have picked a worse time. Just as I go to put my phone away, it beings to ring. I answer it immediately.

“Tony!” I shout. “Tony is that you?”

“(Y/N), it’s Nat.” My old friend’s voice cuts into me and I try to recover. She explains how they are all heading to the Avengers headquarters upstate. “It’s, it’s looking bad. Thanos wants to erase half of the universe.”

Without a second thought I tell her I am on my way. Hanging up the phone, I grab my keys and make my way up the familiar roads. Half the universe? My hand instinctively hovers over my lower abdomen. This baby can’t grow up without its father. I can’t let it happen. Tony would make such an amazing father, and I want more than anything for him to get the chance.

The building comes into view and I feel nostalgia hug me into a parking spot. I haven’t been here since everyone went their separate ways. Suddenly a list of things I need to do crash into my consciousness. First thing being, making a doctor’s appointment to confirm the pregnancy. Without hesitating I call. I give my name and the reason for an appointment.

“Okay, looks like we had a cancellation for an appointment around noon that is available.” I glance at the dashboard clock in the car, 10:00 am. This has been the longest morning. I agree that the time would work. “We’ll see you at noon today, Mrs. Stark.”

“Thank you.” I say and then hang up the phone.

Making my way inside I find Steve, Nat, Sam, Wanda, and Vision with Bruce and Rhodey in the main area. We all exchange hellos and hugs, even Rhodey regardless of the fact he was over for dinner last night. It is crazy to think that this morning I woke up believing today was going to be as normal as yesterday was. I suppose it’s my fault for ever thinking the rest of my days with Tony would be considered normal.

Not so surprisingly, no one stands around and twiddles their thumbs in this group. They immediately get to work. I find myself wishing I could be more helpful than I am. I’ve been out of the game for way too long and before that I was just an agent from Shield. But when it comes to Vision willing to spare his life, I had to interject.

“Steve is right, Vision.” My hormones are starting to get the better of me. Tears are threatening to break through. We can’t lose any more people. We are supposed to save everyone. “There is another way. Please go to Wakanda. If they can’t do it, then we will revisit your idea.”

They can do it. Honestly, I don’t think there is much that Wakanda’s princess can’t do. She can preserve Vision so we can remove the stone and have Wanda destroy it. Thanos won’t be able to kill half the universe, and Tony will be safe. Tony will be safe. Tony will be safe.

Escaping from my thoughts, I find my hand protectively resting against my lower abdomen again. It’s funny how fast I am unconsciously thinking about this unborn child and already willing to protect it. Just a few hours ago I didn’t know the baby existed. A few hours ago I didn’t know that life as we knew it was at stake.

My gaze returns to the group around me and find someone already looking back. Wanda gives me a perplexed look and a head nod that means we’ll talk later. The debate goes on for a few moments more before everyone is in agreement to fly to Wakanda. Wanda catches me outside the room only moments later.

“Spill, something is up.” She gets right to the point. That’s what I love about Wanda. At first she would beat around the bush but in moments like these she doesn’t want to deal with all the fluffy pleasantries.

“I’m not sure it’s right to tell you first…” Which is true, but I’m hoping that this is obvious enough that she can just guess. I have no clue how long it will be before I get to tell Tony and I am bursting at the seams. Someone else besides me has to know and be excited for me.

Her eye brows rise as she releases a soft gasp of air. I’m enveloped in a hug that turns into a few soft jumps of excitement. I explain to her that I just found out and that I have a doctor’s appointment in about thirty minutes. Wanda assures me she won’t tell a soul, though I’m not sure that includes Vision or not. I don’t have enough time to question it because I really need to start making my way there.

One-by-one I hug and say good luck to each of my friends. More tears well up under my eyes from the realization that it has been so long since I’ve seen most of them. I hope they all come back, they have to. There is so much to catch up on and talk about. There have been so many regrets on both sides with how things went down. I want to make up for lost time, and I want this baby to have it’s big family of superheroes.

**

“Congratulations,” Dr. Middleton announces with a smile. “You are indeed pregnant. All your labs look great, very healthy. I’m going to get you started on prenatal vitamins to help make sure baby is getting all the nutrients it needs.”

Dr. Middleton walks me through the various things that are going to be happening the next few months. She gives me a nice folder with the information enclosed so I don’t have to worry about remembering it all. We talk about my diet, exercise, warning signs for trouble, and how I am feeling with all of this. By the time I leave, my brain is swarming with a ton of new information but more excited than ever.

Pulling out of the parking lot my mind is busy making baby name lists. Of course we won’t know for a while if it will be a boy or a girl. Should we wait till birth? That is what my parents did when they were having me. I had a very gender-neutral nursery and I love looking back at the photos. This is definitely something I need to talk to Tony about. Maybe he’ll find it fun.

Honking from behind brings me out of my day dreams of parenthood to find the car in front of me immobile with a green light. I wait a few moments but they obviously are not moving any time soon. Putting the car in park, I get out and walk up to their vehicle. The front seat is empty.

I whirl my head around in every angle to see which direction they went in but nothing. A woman screams to my left. I turn and find a man standing next to her slowly dissolving into dust. My eyes blink several times. I must be imagining things, or dreaming. I’ll wake up and find myself in my bed back home. But it continues.

People all around me are turning to dust, pieces of themselves floating through the air. My heart is hammering in my ears. The screams and cries around me become muffled, secondary to the fear running through my blood. This only means one thing, we lost. Thanos won.

My breathing quickens and shallows. No matter how many breathes I take it is not enough. What if Tony is one of the ones that turned to ash? How long will it take for half the world to disappear? I’m hyperventilating and I am floating. Not like the others around me. I still have a body, but I don’t feel tethered to it.
