Join us in this episode we take a drive through Europe’s deepest canyon! ⁣

After 6 incredible weeks, we ready ourselves to leave Albania. We set off early after 48 hours of torrential rain, and contend with landslides and snow on the treacherous road to the Vermosh border crossing. ⁣

Here we cross into Montenegro through a very small and rarely used border station. Our journey across Montenegro takes an interesting turn as we end up driving through the depths of Europe’s deepest canyon.⁣

From here we attempt to reach the famous Durmitor National Park. Will the snow and cold weather conditions be enough to stop us entering again like the last time we were here?⁣

Join us as we experience Albania’s famous Osum Canyon and sample some of the delicious local wine, produced in a quaint village just outside of the ancient city of Berat. ⁣

In this episode, we arrive in Berat to catch up with an old friend @isufbraho. He kindly lets us stay in his beautifully renovated hotel, located in the picturesque historic centre of the city.

We then head to @alpeta_winery in Roshnik, nestled away in the mountainous outskirts of Berat. Here we discover local flavours and sample organic wine and rakia as well as indulging in the food that is grown here. We marvel at the sustainable business and learn about the special wine produced from grapes that only grow in this particular region from our host @arditfiska. ⁣

After the winery, we venture into Osumi canyon, famous across Albania for being its largest and most impressive canyon.⁣

Good morning, everyone! We hope you’ll join us on this adventure as we experience one of the craziest roads we’ve ever attempted to drive. ⁣

In this episode, we end up on the notorious SH74 road in an attempt to find a scenic route to the historic city of Berat. We’d heard many warnings about this road but wanted to experience it for ourselves, and it turned out to be just as bad as we’d imagined. We’ve only ever had to turn around less than a handful of times, as this was one of them. ⁣

How far will we make it before we say enough is enough? ⁣

Join us as we put our LDV Convoy through it’s paces and push it to the max. Let us know if you’d drive this road in the comments!⁣

As always big thank you to @undyingheads for creating the perfect soundtrack to our travelogues- make sure you check them out!

Join us as we experience Albania’s natural wonders and ancient past.⁣

In this episode, we visit the Lixhat e Bënjës, a naturally occurring hot spring that’s been moulded into a perfect secluded swimming spot. We explore caves carved by mountaineers and military forces and enjoy bathing in the warm thermal waters on offer. ⁣

After, we visit the city of Gjirokastër and discover the best preserved example of Ottoman history in the Balkans and the birthplace of Albania’s former dictator Enver Hoxha. Here we explore the narrow, winding streets, old Bazaar and attempt to find a non-dodgy garage to get our van repaired.⁣

In this episode we’re back in Albania! It’s been two years since our last visit to this incredible country and we’ve got plenty of exciting adventures awaiting us here. ⁣

We reluctantly left Macedonia, a country that left a permanent imprint on our lives. A country with beautiful rugged mountains and miles of unspoiled nature. A country with the most hospitable and welcoming people we’d encountered. ⁣

However, we were excited too, because Albania had also left these same imprints on our memories from our previous visit there two years ago. ⁣

In this episode we cross the border and arrive at a historic city in the South East of Albania; Korcë. We delve in to local byrek, known to be the best in the country, visit the Old Bazaar and discover a natural beauty spot on the edges of Lake Prespa which requires an incredible off-road drive to get to it. This is not to be missed!⁣

Will the old LDV be up to it? And will Albania live up to our expectations from our first visit?⁣

Would you love Macedonia as much as us? We just can’t get enough of the country, and this video is precisely why!⁣

We begin wild camping on the shores of Lake Prespa, sitting on the corner of three countries in one of the most beautiful locations we’ve ever had the privilege to camp.⁣

Then we head off in search of some abandoned buildings and end up at a former Yugoslavian hotel with a dark secret hiding inside.⁣

Finally we meet up with some super hospitable locals and join them for some Orthodox New Years Celebrations in true Balkan style!⁣

Big thanks to @undyingheads for letting us use their music too, if you haven’t already make sure you check them out

We enjoy pushing our van to its limits, so why not explore some of the most treacherous roads in the mountainous Southern regions of the country of N. Macedonia in this week’s episode of Rusty Roadtrips?⁣

Starting at the top of a hazardous mountain track complete with landslides, snow and ice, we make our way down and head East. We meet a friendly local man who shows us the way to an awesome mountainous area where we camp under the stars with the Greek border and Macedonia’s tallest mountain in sight.⁣

We then head further East, attempting to drive an even more perilous mountain track all in the hope of finding a shortcut to Lake Prespa.⁣
