LIVE

you killed me because helios burned icarus, didn’t you?

you saw the youthful love shining from within my eyes

as i gazed into achilles’ own – those that burned bright like the stars kissed by your sister, artemis,

and you remembered your young unrequited love, didn’t you?

you saw me strap achilles’ armour

like icarus shrugging his wax wings on;

you saw me fight the war for my beloved

like icarus taking flight for the sun;

you saw the love unbidden in my eyes as i marched forward

and you remembered.

you remembered the same love in icarus’ eyes as he flew further into the sky

just to plant a chaste kiss on helios’ lips

only to be met by helios’ indifference

and your young unrequited love fell to his death.

you remembered him as you gazed onto me

so you decided to take me away from achilles

just like the way helios took icarus away from you.

- life for life

I’ve been blown away with the luck and blessings I’ve gotten from the Gods this past year. I got to the point where I can justify having business cards for my art (which I made to double as mini-prints!)

Honestly, I can’t thank the gods, and epsecially Apollo, enough for it. I’ve made some awesome things and I’m still getting to do it. I can’t sustain myself on art work alone, but it’s been a great start.

Hope everyone is well and safe, and that you can pursue the things you love be it art, butterfly collecting, or just relaxing with a candle.

Cheers!

Happy New Years! :D

I know I didn’t post on here a lot this year, but looking back, I did so many pieces I was proud of I thought I would do another summary post for 2018!

More Jean again this year, and Greek Gods, and cats… lots of cats. Like 3 cats or dogs a month…

And also a sprinkle of Todd/Chaos Walking at the end which moving forward I want to do more art for in 2019 because I love that series more than I have shown lately!

You can find the full versions of these pieces (as well as others) either in my ART TAG or on my WEBSITE !! (which is one of the reasons I never posted on here, coding a website from scratch is hell)

Not everything is up yet, but for the majority that’s where you can find them.

You can get the blank template here if you were wondering.

A huge thanks for all the lovely comments from everyone and to the people who have commissioned me this year; it means the world to me seeing everyone’s reactions!

Have a great 2019 everyone!

Delphi Charioteer, Temple of Apollo, Delphi, Greece, C 470 BCE,

Bronze, Dimensions:  H:1.8m.

The Charioteer of Delphi is a rare surviving 2,500-year-old bronze sculpture from Ancient Greek culture. It is a life-size statue of a chariot driver found in 1896 at the Sanctuary of Apollo in Delphi.

The statue was commissioned to commemorate the victory of the tyrant Polyzalusa of Gela, a Greek colony in Sicily, and his chariot in the Pythian Games of 470 BC.

The Pythian Games (also known as the Delphic Games) were among the four Panhellenic Games of Ancient Greece. They were held in honor of Apollo every four years at his sanctuary at Delphi.

They were held two years after each Olympic Games. An inscription on the statue’s limestone base shows that Polyzalus dedicated it as a tribute to Apollo for helping him win the chariot race.

The Charioteer of Delphi was initially part of a larger group of sculptures that included the chariot, at least four horses, and possibly two grooms.

Some smaller fragments of the horses, grooms, and chariot were found with the statue. The Sicilian Greek colonies were very wealthy compared with most of the cities of mainland Greece.

“You are fallen in your prime
defrauded of your youth, O Hyacinthus!”
Moaned Apollo. “I can see in your sad wound
my own guilt, and you are my cause of grief
and self-reproach. My own hand gave you death
unmerited — I only can be charged
with your destruction.—What have I done wrong?
Can it be called a fault to play with you?
Should loving you be called a fault? And oh,
that I might now give up my life for you!”

Apollo is the Greek god of archery, the arts, truth and prophecy, healing and disease, and ultimately, the sun.

because of the expansiveness of Apollo’s gifts and work, there’s a few interpretations that could take place.

of course, the main interpretation could be that the asteroid Apollo is another extension of one’s sun sign. it could explain a deeper part of one’s essence and provide insight on where one shines.

another could be that the asteroid tells of where truth will be revealed in one’s life, or where one will have a prophecied fate.

yet another could be that Apollo tells of a place that both heals and strikes us with disease.

lastly, the asteroid Apollo could explain your connection to the arts - how you make art, your instinctual reaction to it, and more.

the best way to determine which interpretation could be correct is to look into the numerology behind it.

. /

8

the number 1862 reduces down to the number 8 if all the numbers are added together. 8 is a number of abundance in both numerology as a life path and in angel numbers.

with that, i honestly think it’s best to apply all the possible interpretations to the asteroid Apollo. it can’t be held to only one as that would be too limiting to Apollo himself.

‘ajax and cassandra’ (1886) - solomon joseph solomon

cassandra, sister of trojan hero hector, was given the gift of prophecy by apollo. however, she did not reciprocate the feelings that he had for her which resulted in the god turning his gift into a curse; cassandra could indeed see the future, but the twist was that nobody would believe her. for instance, she tried to warn her people that letting the trojan horse inside of their city would bring death and defeat, though of course her warning was ignored. when the greeks finally entered troy thanks to the wooden horse, cassandra desperately fled to the temple of athena and clung onto a statue of the goddess for protection. despite this, she was followed by ajax (greek hero and rival of hector), who tore her from the statue to tragically assault her - this is the scene depicted in solomon’s painting. thankfully, athena was outraged by ajax’s actions - not only is it an insult to harm someone that was under the protection of the gods, it’s even worse that ajax raped a woman in the temple of a virgin goddess (of all places). on his return home athena unleashed her wrath upon ajax, striking him down with lighting.
