A Hymn to Athene

Hear me, O’ Glorious Queen Athene,

All-Powerful and Exceedingly Wise,

Sharp-Eyed Maiden borne from the head of Zeus,

Strategic Warrior and Bringer of Peace.

It is through Your grace as Mother of Invention

That industry may be allowed to prosper,

It is through Your will, O’ Civil Protectress

That culture abounds and justice is served.

Each gleaming weapon is a reflection of You,

Every handicraft a display of Your divine boon.

In times of distress and in blessed creation,

Your guidance directs our once unsteady hands.

If ever I honored you through gift or libation,

Please grant me counsel and essential insight,

The courage to face each ongoing challenge,

And the strength and stability to endure.

vintagedeity:

Fair Athene, assist my plight

Lift my countenance, through your vision, slated pure and grey.

Delight my soul, tethered may it be,

At your side, eternally

Industrious Pallas Athene, the unwavering. Grey-eyed protectress, and goddess of counsel. An updated

“Beside”, a poem for Athene and Ares.

Athene of the bright eyes, approached Ares
Whom sustained a boy in His bloody hands
“Does he have the strenght?”, asked Pallas
“He does, for I gave him” Ares spit back
“And the wit, does he lack?” asked the mighty warrior
“No longer”, said the Goddess, “For here I am”.
Bronze shone beside the boy who could not see
He shouted loudly and got in hands a mighty spear
The enemy approached heavy and brave
But this time his courage would
not wane.

portuguese:

Atena dos olhos brilhantes, de Ares se achegou
Que o via sustentar um menino em Suas mãos saguinolentas
“A força, ele tem?” questionou Palas.
“O tem, pois a ele o presenteei” Ares retrucou,
“E a esperteza, nele falta?” perguntou o poderoso guerreiro
“Não mais”, disse a Deusa, “porque aqui estou”.
Bronze brilhou ao lado do menino que não os podia ver
Ele gritou de volta e pegou nas mãos uma poderosa lança
O inimigo se aproximou pesado e corajoso
Mas desta vez a bravura não lhe
faltaria.

y’all, i feel like i need to remind y’all that there’s a huge difference between ignoring what’s going on, and taking a mental break because you’re exhausted with trying to keep up with the situation in the country right now. this shit is no joke and is weighing incredibly heavy on people such as myself and if you need to take a break from this and just log out, please do. please take care of yourself and don’t feel bad that you’re not keeping up with things at every second of the day.

There is also a statue of Athena in front of the Austrian Parliament but this one stands in Athens. The one in Vienna has a spear in her left hand and a little Nike on her right.

Athene (real name Bachir Boumaaza) is a pro gamer who lives with 25 of his followers. Together, they make philosophical videos and perform vaguely defined “experiments” into human consciousness. We spoke to Athene, as well as his friend and right-hand man Dries Leysen, to find out how deep this particular rabbit hole goes.

Athene was one of the first people to tap into the gaming video phenomenon, getting his start in the YouTube dark ages of 2007. His first video, where he played World Of Warcraft like an eccentric but talented maniac, racked up over four million views. He eventually accumulated just shy of 720,000 subscribers, over 450 million views, and a six-figure income. It isn’t the most subtle content in the world. But it’s enough to earn him pages on Wikipedia,KnowYourMeme, and EncyclopediaDramatica (the big three!), get a League Of Legendsitemnamed after him, book a TEDx talk, net some gaming news headlines about his feats, and garner him a profile by the noted gaming journalists at Bloomberg

What’s the next step when you’ve become hugely successful in the world of gaming? You guessed it – an abrupt switch to lengthy, serious philosophical lectures!

In 2011, after a few years of gaming and goofs, Athene released a 50-minute documentary about the nature of consciousness called Athene’s Theory of Everything. It was like if Nicki Minaj abruptly started hosting podcasts about the Crimean War. And everybody loved her for it.
