i also started playing disco elysium. learned that a good way to know youre fucked is when kim AND your skills are all giving you the same disapproving look

I have discovered a possibility that could arise this Sunday during the TLC PPV.
After watching the ending to Monday’s RAW when Randy Orton is knocked into Stephanie and John Cena is stood next to the authority. I realised that there could be a chance of the authority interfering with the Unification Match and costing Orton the title. Oh what anger I would feel

Teachers should let kids eat and drink in class, I have no idea why high school teachers act like tiny dictators of their pathetic kingdoms. Like, let them go to the bathroom, if they are hungry let them eat, if they are thirsty let them drink.

It shouldn’t really be so difficult.

Anyway, children are people, so maybe stop adding onto this post trying to justify why it is ok to treat them and train like animals in a 1920’s zoo.

My english teacher taught us about this. There’s a specific reason public schools are the way they are. From not letting us eat/drink in class, to how we address our teachers as Mr./Ms./etc, to even the schedules. Basically, the whole purpose of school is to teach us to be workers. That’s why we’re given specific tasks at specific times being monitored by superiors. We can’t eat at specific times to mimic what they want us to end up in, a factory or the like.

In private schools, it’s a lot more relaxed and free. They aren’t given as much supervision or control because they’re being raised to be owners/bosses. In a lot of private schools, you call your teachers by their first names and it’s less lecture and more discussion.

This all boils down to Marxist theory and social class reproduction. We are raised from a extremely young age to be placed in a certain sector that we belong in depending on what our family does. That’s why cycles of poverty are so prevelant in families and why rich families stay rich.

The way our schools are structured are to reproduce distinct classes and to make us believe that severe class inequity is okay or even fake.

Holy fuck you just blew my mind!!!!

Yeah?  Try getting a degree in any science field with that “Free Thinking” philosophy you pretend to have… that’s NOT how education works!  You learn rules, you memorize things – the Periodic Table of Elements, for example – you listen to the teacher, you read what you’re told to read and then you regurgitate it exactly as they told you… THAT’S how you succeed in school. No, NOT with “Free Thinking” but by listening to authority.

…”But, but, but in this one class…”

Yeah who cares? If that one class could get you a degree in Chemistry and some grant money then you’d have a point, but it can’t so you don’t.

Wait, are you under the impression that science class in school is exactly the same as scientific research in the real world as a career? Do you think that driver’s ed class is exactly the same thing as driving in Nascar, Formula One, or movie stunt driving?

Are you not aware that people need to be able to crawl or wade before they can walk or swim, before they can run or dive, invent new dances, create new dive moves?

Do you think that someone who wants to write a book shouldn’t understand grammar, or for that matter, spelling? Someone who wants to write a film or a play shouldn’t know how to designate structure, action, dialogue?

If you want to write a story entirely for yourself, in your own made up language, devoid of all grammar, that’s your business. But the instant you want the world to accept and consume it, you better be able to structure it properly, using accepted standards.

Likewise, if you’ve got a revolutionary scientific idea, if you want it taken seriously by the real world outside your basement, you better be able to present it in relation to our pre-existing knowledge, using scientific terminology, units of measure and actual mathematics, rather than calculations you made up on your own, that you think people should just blindly trust. You’ll get no sympathy standing there in tears, wailing about your revolutionary idea, with the sinking realization you just wasted a decade of your life figuring out the mathematics behind gravity solely because nobody in high school told you that we already figured it out… and how. Because nobody showed you the math, talked you through the mechanism, and walked you though the experiments to demonstrate it. You know, the howandwhy.

Because you didn’t like learning. Because you thought learning how to calculate force or acceleration was beneath you. Because you weren’t interested in knowing what those atomic masses even mean. Because you wanted to jump straight into a stunt car without even a learner’s permit, and wound up crashing and burning.

Blathering about the scientific process being the same thing as science class in school, as nothing but rote recitation, is absolutely ridiculous and nothing but blatant ignorance.

The fact you’re literally tapping that out onto a device that exists only due to science, across a network that only exists due to science, in a building structure that only exists due to science, with electrical power provided by the wonder of science… proves you wrong. If it was all rote and recitation, these things literally would not exist. There would be no advances, no new knowledge, no new techniques or mechanisms. And certainly no Nobel Prize in Chemistry winners.

The power of evolution is revealed through the diversity of life. The 2018 Nobel Laureates in Chemistry have taken control of evolution and used it for purposes that bring the greatest benefit to humankind. Enzymes produced through directed evolution are used to manufacture everything from biofuels to pharmaceuticals. Antibodies evolved using a method called phage display can combat autoimmune diseases and in some cases cure metastatic cancer.

See, this is why we ignore science-illiterate cretinists creationists when they ramble incoherently about monkeys still existing or the second law of thermodynamics “debunking” 150 years of scientific research into evolution. We know that they never bothered to learn even the basics. They don’t even know enough to be wrong.

“This king,” said Mort, as a forest zipped beneath them, “is he good or bad?”

I NEVER CONCERN MYSELF WITH SUCH THINGS, said Death. HE’S NO WORSE THAN ANY OTHER KING, I IMAGINE.

“Does he have people put to death?” said Mort, and remembering who he was talking to added, “Saving y'honor’s presence, of course.”

SOMETIMES. THERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU HAVE TO DO, WHEN YOU’RE A KING.

Jeff Vandermeer, Authority(2014)

Another evening, the dawn of another day, and Control felt as if he were moving along at a rapid clip, almost able to relax into the closed vessel formed by each innocuous moment and to live there in blissful ignorance of the rest. Even though by now the disruption had spread, so that queries via walkie-talkie had become verbal miscues and misunderstandings. Listener and listened-to had begun to be colonized by some outside force but had not yet realized it. Or, at least, not voiced concerns for the camera. Control chose not to rewind these instances. They sent a prickling shiver across the back of his neck, gave him a faint sensation of nausea, increased the destabilizing sense of vertigo and claustrophobia.

Breaking The Law

“Breaking the Law” is a song by British heavy metal band Judas Priest, originally released on their 1980 album British Steel. The song is one of the band’s better known singles, and is readily recognized by its opening guitar riff. Directed by Julien Temple, the video starts with vocalist Rob Halford singing from the back of a 1974 Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado convertible traveling along on the Westway section of the A40 in West London. The lyrics tell of someone at the rock bottom in their life – out of work, unable to find work, frustrated, feeling that nobody cares if they live or die, eventually turning to crime for survival.

The song made VH1’s 40 Greatest Metal Songs at No. 40. In 2009 it was named the 12th greatest hard rock song of all time by VH1. $

In other words, Kim has more Authority in his one eyebrow than Harry could ever have in his entire being.

Ever Since They Outlawed Sin

Ever Since They Outlawed Sin

The witches used to bother me

Temptation was a scourge

Now weekly they have trials

And my neighbors go t’ purge

If you feel a bit funny

They dunk her nice and deep

If she drowns she’s saved, forgive us

If she comes back up, she’ weak

So we burn those who dare cross us

And it all comes out awash

In the holy smokes of delegation

from on high, you watch

Ever since they outlawed…
