I struggled quite a bit with the background because there were so many different elements to it. I think I could have simplified it more and created better shapes, but at some point you need to call a painting finished. I am quite happy with how it turned out in the end, even though it’s not perfect.

Mermay day 31
Aaaaand we’re done! ✨ I had so much fun this month. I wasn’t able to do every single day, but still quite a lot, I believe I finished 22 drawings. I started a part-time job at the beginning of May, and I’m very glad I was still able to do so many.
I really enjoyed drawing this last one, I think she’s one of my favorites. I hope you enjoyed seeing all my mermaids!

You know what I almost never draw? Feathered wings. I don’t think I’m particularly good at it, and I still have trouble wrapping my head around wing anatomy and feather direction. Considering it’s shell is comparable to the to some metals it’s defensive capabilities are much higher then average.

Changes: scale on the forehead has grown into a captain america-esc face mask. armor-like Scales forming on forearms and lower leg to give a slight impression of gloves and boots. Shell is now smooth in the shape of a military helmet
