Ahsoka, an Original series, starts production today. #DisneyPlus

Don’t you love how these Star Wars reference books never give any credit to the comic book writers and artists who came up with this stuff originally?

It’s amazing to me that Dave Filoni gets more credit for something he didn’t make than John Ostrander and Jan Duursema get for one of strongest SW characters with one of the most sophisticated and satisfying storylines of them all.

This unevenness is one of the consequences of the frustrating and silly divide between “legends” and “canon” that I just don’t engage with on this blog. And of course, while I won’t deny that movies > TV shows > games > novels > comics in terms of budget and popularity, I will argue that that order is certainly not the case in terms of originality, imagination, or storytelling quality.

“Star Wars: The Lightsaber Collection.” October 20, 2020. Writer: Daniel Wallace. Illustrators: Lukasz Liszko and Ryan Valle.

As the one person who loved Ahsoka from the getgo, and having rewatched TCW from start to finish, I feel tiny Ahsoka is overlooked. She’s adorable, she may be a little bratty and full of herself but she’s 14, and she’s such a bundle of joy and sarcasm. She has flaws, as any preteen/teen, but she’s a sweetheart above all. Seeing her grow and mature is such a treat, but I think her beginnings were just as important. 14 year old Ahsoka was a blast.

Despite the differences between The Clone Wars and The Mandalorian, there is one thing these two shows share that I love. The world building, and the expansion of the GFFA as a universe with different planets, inhabitants, cultures and factions.

Every time I watch an episode, I feel immersed into another world that is vast and interesting and alive. I thank Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau in equal amounts (as well as George Lucas) for making Star Wars feel like a living breathing entity, in spite of what the ST failed at.

The fact that they actually named a Jedi Ima-Gun Di.

Ima-Gun Di.

And that he did.

As a teen I hated Ventress. Now, I adore her. She’s so underrated and shows such fantastic character growth. I love her transition from misguided apprentice of Dooku into her own woman. Her road is uneven and jumbled, but in the end, she does the right thing.

We stan Asajj Ventress in this house.

I wanna highlight two fabulous twi’lek women who went against the stereotype of twi’lek females being sex objects and sex slaves.

One, by going against the notion and using that to define herself without pvert sex appeal. One, who actively used her sexuality to her advantage while maintaining her autonomy to do so.

Hera Syndulla and Aayla Secura. Both are valid, and fabulous.

If I’m the only person out there loving Ahsoka’s Rebels design, so be it. Cause I do, and I think season 7 of TCW did a good job of showing her transition into the mature appearance we see in Rebels.

Get him to swap our places

Iknowthis song has a ‘baby’ in the lyrics (I cut out the only overtly romantic part of the song) but it is NOTa ship video. Anakin and Ahsoka are siblings, and I adore them as such. But apart from that one ‘baby’ - which can be used as a pet name anyhow - this song fits them very well, and I couldn’t help but use it. Just wanna clarify that it is notanisoka, and I do not ship anisoka.

If you do, you do you, but I don’t. Anyhow, I like how this video turned out and how I managed to tie it together. I hope some of you enjoy it as well! Angsty spade siblings is what we live for.

My sister and I were browsing our old art binders and we unearthed this dorky, old comic that she drew back in the day. You know, before the cancellation of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. We loved that show and all it’s characters so much it was practically the forefront for all the art we drew; four years in a row. As we awaited new episodes, I’m pretty sure our pondering was how this comic idea came into existence.

Heh. My only thoughts now are; Dave Filoni is not nearly plump enough. :D

This piece is inspired by the last 4 episodes of the clone wars tv show. I loved when maul kept talking about sidious like he was the boogey man, i wanted that to be represented in this piece. Also used Ahsoka Tano Cosplayer Rei. Kennex from instagram for reference because i wanted this piece to have a very realistic look to it.
