Draco Malfoy has no regrets about the relationship he has with you. Especially as the War has only justended.

Your heart pounded in your ears as you watched with bated breath at the intensity of the fight between your current worst nightmare and your classmate.

Words had been shared between the two adversaries but you were overly engaged in fighting for your life to be really interested in what the two males were actually saying to one another. Only catching glimpses of them as you twisted and contorted in your grim dance.

As you faced your newest opponent, duelling aggressive spells towards them, not allowing them a moment to attack you, waves of powerful magic reached you, overpowering you; crippling all sense of movement as it compelled you to turn to its epicentre in wonder; in horror. In hope.

Harry Potter.

Survivor.

Victor.

Returning to your body from the shock, you turned to your side and cast a spell to your opponent who didn’t even realise what had happened to him, still gravely focused on the fall of his Master. If you hadn’t have been in the battle, the sound his skull made as it connected with the floor, would have made you cringe and sick to your stomach.

Looking around the room, what was once the immaculately gorgeous Great Hall, your ears ringing, you started to tend to the injured. You prepared yourself with studying medical journals and shadowing Madame Pomfrey for this very reason. You had basic medic skills, considering who you were friends with and with the threat of war, at the time, becoming all the more real, you studied more and for longer.

During the time it took, from the first break of sunlight to the Hall being cast in a golden hue, you had tended to a range of injuries. As small as disinfecting cuts to something as painful as wrapping broken ribs.

Hermione and Ginny had made their way over to you both to seek medical treatment and to make sure you were alright. The younger ginger had hugged you tightly, when you had wrapped her wrist securely in bandage, burying her head into your neck for comfort and to bawl her sorrows out; Hermione huddled close to the pair of you, offering her support with a gentle hand rubbing Ginny’s back.

The three of you stood there for a while. Basking in the peace and emotional comfort of each other. Long enough for Ginny to wipe her eyes and gather her wits once more, before taking a deep breath and headed over to her family.

Hermione stayed with you, her arm hooked through yours, supporting each other as you observed the room. “Hey, ‘Mione?” You whispered, your strength was slowly depleting and the strain had made it difficult to talk at a normal level.

“Hmm?” She too was experiencing the drain of energy. Unable to really formulate a sentence without effort.

Both of you standing with your weight balanced against the other.

“Are you and Ron together now?”

She snorted, emotions were taught and laughter was a foreign concept at the moment but a small twitch of her lips gave way to the beginnings of a smile, “yeah, I think so.”

“That’s good.”

“Yeah.”

“I told you so.”

“Oh, Y/N.” Hermione drawled, a small smile now on her lips. “What about you and Draco?”

Your response was a small shrug, worry tightening its chains around your heart as you admitted, “I haven’t seen him since before all…this.”

If it helps, I think I can see him across the room.” Your eyes darted over everyone in the Hall which was thoroughly packed with people. Quickly, your eyes landed on a strikingly blonde head of hair in the direction Hermione had gestured to.

From this distance you observed, scanning his body, as much of it as you could from where you were, for any obvious injuries and wounds. With a deep breath that exhaled as a heavy sigh, you couldn’t see anything.

“Go to him.” Was the quiet prompt you received in your ear. A quick glance back to Hermione, ensuring she would be okay, she pushed you on.

Your feet wouldn’t run as your steps were already heavy from exhaustion.

No one stopped you as you passed them, nor did you want them to.

Your tired brain could only focus on its task, getting to Draco. Cheering your limbs to keep moving. You were nearly there.

Narcissa met your gaze, a fleeting smile gracing her lips as she watched you approach before putting her hand on her son’s shoulder and encouraging him to look up.

His eyes lit up in a blaze of renowned emotion and his body rocketed up from where he was sat, rushing to wrap you up in a tight embrace.

Your arms wrapped themselves around his neck, holding him in place. His own had secured  themselves around your waist and along your back.

You were embracing each other so tightly, so securely that for a moment, no one could tell what was Draco and what was you.

With a hiccup, Draco lifted his head, gently resting his forehead against yours, your noses brushing and eyes locked together. A lone tear fell down your cheek as Draco took a deep breath to steady himself, “I love you.”

A smile bloomed on your face, “as I love you. No regrets, Draco. None.” Declared with finality from your soul, sealed with a kiss.

A promise for the both of you that no matter what happened in the past, what had only juststoppedhappening, and what will happen, will be done because neither one of you would carry regrets into your future together.

It was not an immediate fix. No one overcomes the turmoil of a War overnight.

It was a promise between the two of you, only.

One that would help you both to heal. To move on. To grow and to mature.

To live.

To be happy.

“No regrets.”

The day had been a rather cold one, enough so that one could begin to see their own warm breaths as they hit the air. This, of course, should be expected for the middle of autumn. In no time at all, the temperatures would drop down into the single digits and a blanket of white will  decorate England just in time for the holidays.

While you weren’t a huge fan of cold weather, you did enjoy some of the simple pleasures the season brought. Sitting outside the local café enjoying a nice warm beverage was one. There was just something pleasantly calm about holding a warm mug in your hands while looking adorable in your favorite scarf and matching sweater, especially after all the walking you’ve done for the day.

That morning, your mother and sister had dragged you out to run a few errands which doesn’t sound too terrible until considering the fact that a ‘few errands’ to your family was more like visiting every shop in the city by noon. Your poor soul was forced to follow them around, bored out of your mind until your gracious mother allowed you to head to the café early while they finished up the last of their shopping adventure.

Soaking up your 'break’, you gave a content sigh before gently blowing on your beverage. After taking a small sip, you opened your eyes to a…rather strangesurprise.

A small rodent-like creature sat on its hind legs on the table, seeming to perk up once seeing it had your attention. All you could do was stare at the animal in a mix of confusion and amazement, never seeing something quite like it before. You weren’t sure what it was nor where it came from, but it was certainly adorable with it’s fluffy black fur and small size, being tiny enough for you to fit it in the palm of your hand if you dared to try, but of course, that wouldn’t be wise seeing that you had yet to identify the little fellow.

You instead glanced around, wondering if anyone else was seeing it, too, however, it turned out you were the only one brave enough to be sitting in the outside sitting area during the given time of year.

As if it would give you some sort of answer as to what it was or what it was doing, you spoke softly to the creature who titled its head in curiosity at your words,“ why hello there, little one. Where did you come from?”

The mystery creature retained eye contact with you as it inched forward slowly, leaning out ever so slightly once reaching the end of the table. You held your hands out just below it, fearing that it may loose its balance and fall. For a moment, you even thought that, perhaps, the cute little critter was reaching for you. How silly of you.

The creature suddenly took hold of your shiny bracelet, having to give a good couple of tugs to pull it free of your wrist. Making quick work of its thievery, it had already stuffed its new treasure into its pouch and leap off the table before you even had time to realize you were being robbed.

“Hey! Come back here!” Instantly forgetting about your beverage, you jumped out of your seat, giving chase.

The tiny thief was fast, having no trouble scurrying down the crowed street, but you were determined not to loose your bracelet. You were so determined, in fact, that you payed more attention to the ball of black fur than your surroundings. Perhaps this is why you only saw the creature dived past a pair of legs and into a tipped over crate apart of a store display. What you failed to notice was the man the legs belonged to who, unlike everyone else on the street, actually noticed the creature’s escape, bending down to peer inside the crate it disappeared in. By the time you had noticed him, it was far too late.

You both gasped when you ran into the poor gentleman, knocking him to the ground. Just like that, you forgot all about your bracelet and the thief who had the audacity to peek outside of the crate to see what the commotion was about before going back to carefully inspecting its treasure once more.

“I’m so sorry, sir! I-I…oh dear, are you hurt? I really am sorry, I should’ve been watching where I was going, but there was this little creature and it-” With your whole face turning red with embarrassment, you offered the man a hand, however, he hurried to stand on his own without your help, plucking his suitcase off the ground while he was at it.

“-Y-You’re quite alright, really,” his cheeks were also painted with red, his voice shaky due to his own embarrassment. He looked everywhere but at you, his eyes eventually falling to the crate the creature had disappearing in.

Just as quickly as he had stood up before, he dropped to his knees, peering inside the crate first then reaching inside to drag the animal out. It put up a fight, clawing at the wood and grabbing at the edges in attempts to remaining in place, however, it was no match for the strength of a human. With the little rascal finally in hand, the man stood once again.

He glanced at you before quickly diverting his gaze elsewhere once accidentally meeting your eyes. Without a word, he balanced his case against his hip and took your hand, carefully leading you around the corner to the ally where you both could be hidden from public.

Recognizing the danger in allowing a complete strange to take you somewhere private, you were quick to rip your hand away from his loose grip, taking a couple of steps back to create some distance between you two, although, the man didn’t seem to notice. He merely turned to you and spoke tiredly as if he went through the same situation everyday,“ I’m terribly sorry for all this trouble. What did it take from you?”

You blinked, needing a moment to remember the whole reason you ran into him,“ oh, um, y-yes. It took a bracelet of mine. That’s why I was chasing it and ran into you…”

The creature peered up at him, innocently lowering its head once meeting his glare which was more annoyed than angry,“ now I told you it isn’t polite to take people’s belongings. Give it back.”

The creature shook its head stubbornly. The man sighed before, much to your shock, suddenly flipping the small creature upside down, giving it a good shake that would make anyone dizzy.

“Sir, don’t-!” You reached a hand out to stop him, fearing that he may hurt the poor thing, however, you fell quiet in a snap and stepped back when seeing why he was doing so. Out from the creature’s pouch fell several different pieces of gold, jewelry, and other random, shiny treasures in which formed a pile on the ground.

“Are one of those yours?” He questioned a bit too casually when no more gold fell from the animal. Clearly he wasn’t as fazed by its collection as yourself.

Hesitantly, you kneeled down, plucking your bracelet from the pile then quickly standing as if it might electrocute you. Once your belonging had been returned, the man set his suitcase down, opening it up and placing the creature inside despite the small squeaks it made in protest. He mumbled the word 'bugger’ before snapping the case shut.

“…What was that thing?” You finally dared to ask, trying to see over his shoulder while maintaining your distance.

“A niffler.”

“A niffler?…I’ve never heard of a niffler before. They must not be native here-” you whispered the last part with uncertainty yet the man was still quick to hear and correct you.

“-No, they are. They just aren’t typically seen by muggles, that’s all.”

“What are muggles then?”

“Well,” he stood, scratching the back of his head,“ youare.”

Iam?”

“Yes, you are what we consider a muggle; non-magical.”

Non-magical?” You breathed in a hint of a chuckle. Ah, he was pulling your leg, wasn’t he?

The man merely nodded awkwardly, quietly reaching inside his coat pocket not that you noticed the secretive movement. You were too busy noticing his discomfort which made you decide to ask another question in attempts to being a little more formal,“ well, um, what’s your name if I may ask, sir?”

“Newt Scamander, and you are?”

“(Y/n). (Y/n) (L/n),” you held a hand out politely. He stared at it in near wonder, giving a moment of hesitation before finally removing his own hand from his coat pocket to shake yours,“ it’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Scamander.”

His cheeks flashed and he once again directed his eyes downwards awkwardly,“ a-as it is you, Ms. (L/n).”

“You aren’t going to keep that niffler in your case, are you? It won’t be able to breath properly,” you suddenly asked, glancing at the case in worry.

“There are, um…holes in the case so that she can breath properly,” Newt lied, a bit taken back by your concern.

“Oh, well I suppose that’s good enough then,” You knew you should really leave the poor man alone, however, at the same time, you couldn’t help but want to stay and ask more questions which was very unusually compared to your normal personality. There was simply something about Mr. Scamander that had completely captured your interest. You weren’t quite sure if it was his strange pet or just…him.

“Where does one even get a niffler?”

Luckily for you, Newt couldn’t help but chuckle a bit at the question, surprised that a muggle found such interest in his creatures especially considering the fact that even his own kind didn’t,“ I found her orphaned only a couple of weeks ago actually. I’ve been nursing her back to health and, well, as you were likely able to tell, she’s been doing quite good now, just a rather troublesome handful at times.”

“While I don’t necessarily enjoying having my belongings stolen, I must say she was very adorable. Why, I was so captivated by her that it took me a second to realize her intentions even as she made her escape,” You smiled brightly,“ I might have to go to the library and try to find a book on nifflers now so that I can learn more about them.”

Newt suddenly frowned, fiddling with his case’s handle,“ well, a-actually, Ms. (L/n), you won’t-”

As he began his sentence, you stole a quick glance at your watch, your eyes becoming wide with worry at the sight,“-oh no, I hadn’t realized the time-! I was suppose to meet my mum and sister at two back at the café. It’s a quarter past now. I-I am so sorry, but I must be going. It really was a pleasure to meet you and your niffler, Mr. Scamander.”

He stumbled over his words, rushing to reach back into his coat pocket with one hand while trying to reach the other out to gain your attention, however, you failed to notice. Being in so much of a rush yourself, you were quick to disappear among the crowd of muggles on the street before he could get a real word out to stop you.

Newt bit his lip, looking down at the wand in his hands as he stood alone in that ally.

A few months have passed since she first discovered Sirius cheating on her with Marlene. It’s now Christmas and she’s packing all her things to go home, forget the burning hell she has been put through by the two people she had once loved the most.

You know, the rumours, the whispers and stares, it was all too much at first. She tried to hide in corners until people had passed and then she would go to her class. Too ashamed to face the classmates that pitied her. Until she realized there was nothing to be ashamed of, or to be pitied for. She hadn’t been the first girl to get cheated on and she wouldn’t be the last. It had happened and she needed to learn how to move on, ignore people around her and focus on herself. She took baby steps, with Lily and Alice always with her, and slowly but surely she had grown out of it. Now she can finally say she’s happy and over it.

Sirius, on the other hand, is like a dog that wouldn’t let go of his favourite bone. Rumour has it─and by rumour she means Remus telling her everything─that he hasn’t been with anyone since she broke up with him. Marlene tried to approach him a couple times but was rejected, and with the entire school knowing what she had done, it was safe to say she wouldn’t be dating or befriending anyone anytime soon.

She sighs, turning around on her heels and walking up to her closet to grab the last piece of clothing left. There’s a knock on her door.

“Come in!” But no one enters. “Come in!” She screams again, thinking the person behind the door has not heard her.

When her door remains closed and the silence falls upon the room, she lets out a frustrated sigh and walks up to the door, opening it wide to see what’s going on.

Her scream is loud enough to have alerted the entire castle─but she hopes no one comes─.

She grabs Sirius’s fur and pushes him inside, scoffing when he lets out a whine. After checking the hall’s still empty she closes the door and turns around, almost letting out another scream at the sight of Sirius’s naked body.

“Put something on, asshole!”

“Well, fine. But unless I’ve grown a third nipple, it’s nothing you haven’t seen before.”

“Before! When I wanted to see it, Sirius! Now I don’t, so put something on before I kick your ass out of the window.” She can’t believe she needs to explain this again.

Sirius taps her shoulder a moment after. Not knowing what she was expecting, she has to laugh. He has covered himself with her sheets. This man is unbelievable.

He clears his throat: “can we talk now?” She sighs.

This is not the first time Sirius has tried to talk to her about how much he has changed.

But she didn’t want to hear it the first hundred times and she doesn’t want to hear it now.

What can she do? Tell him to go? There’s a chance he won’t. Just give him five minutes, let him explain once again and ask him to leave. It’s worked before, it’ll work now.

“Fine,” she tells him while walking up to Alice’s bed and sitting down. “Speak.”

Sirius sits down on her bed─good thing he’s using her sheets, now he can’t get too far from her bed─and once more clears his throat as if it’ll make his words more believable.

“You’re going home for Christmas?” He asks, confusing her. Before she can answer his mouth is moving again and more and more words leave his throat: “Remus told me because Alice told him. It’s not that he tells me things! It came up in the conversation we were having so please, don’t get upset with him.”

She blinks one, two, three times. Unsure of what’s going on, she takes a couple seconds to take in his rambling and making out the meaning behind it. She is unable to make it make sense and the little patience that she has is growing out.

Is it her fault? Should’ve she told him to fuck off? Perhaps it’s because she keeps giving him the chance to explain himself although she knows nothing is ever gonna change. Is she leading him on? That’s the last thing she wants to do. Hurting is not in her nature. It’s never been.

“Sirius,” she calls his name while running her left hand through her hair. She inhales, gives herself time to think about her next words. It’s time to let things turn clear as water. “You didn’t go through all the trouble of morphing on school grounds, sneak around the castle and up here to ask me to not be mad at Remus. So tell me, what was the actual reason?”

She has taken him off guard, being so blunt, her voice so calm. She’s not upset with him, or resentful, she’s at peace and holds no grudge against him. “I…” he begins, the sound of his voice lingering in the room for a couple seconds before he finishes: “To be honest, I came here to ask for another chance…”

“Sirius─”

“…No, no. Let me finish. I came here to ask for another chance because I thought that to fix all of this mess all I had to do was change. But, that’s not it, right?” She shakes her head. “I made a mistake, now I can’t ask the girl whose heart I broke to risk it being broken again. So if it’s not too much to ask for, I’d like for us to be friends, like before. Because whether it’s as my girl or my best friend, I don’t want to find out what life without you is like.”

“We can’t be friends like before, Sirius. Before is gone. I’m not the person I was then. I like to think neither are you. But I’m sure we can work something out, as long as you promise to not come naked into my room ever again.”

“Oh, no I can’t promise that.” Sirius grins, tilting his head right.

She laughs. “Yeah, of  course you can’t. Asshole.”
