Today is Toninho’s birthday, so I thought I should give him the spotlight for once. But then I remembered that it’s Valentine’s Day in two days, so here he is with Charles I of Spain (aka Holy Roman Emperor Charles V) and Isabel de Portugal, who were said to forget about everyone else when they were in each other’s presence.
These two had their honeymoon at the Alhambra (for nine months!) and legend has it that Charles gave Isabel a carnation, which she loved so much that she asked for hundreds of carnations to be planted there. And of course, now it’s the national flower of Spain. I don’t know if it’s related, but I find it really sweet.

Heavenly Outing - Part 10
A little closure to who Rufrius Crispinus is. He was the former Praetorian guard, who lost his job, because Agrippina minor fired him, in order to have Burrus (who owed her a favour) take his place. Rufius is very salty about this and doesn’t like Agrippina much.

Ohhhh!! Who do we have here ?? A young 25 year old Poppaea Sabina.
Reminder that the next page is still in the making (my buffer ran out and I am too busy to finish the pages :/ )
Patrons have the special honour of being able to view for this little hiatus old 2015-ish comic strips of Nero in da Domus, which I have never published before. They are messy, strange and brutal. If you’re interested become a Patron today and receive this and other cool rewards.
I’ll let you know once the story resumes. Sorry about this, but Uni studies come first. Meanwhile check out this poll I’m holding.

‘Tis the season for French revolution couples! From left to right:
Jean-Christophe and Xandrine are the main characters in my French Revolution romantic historical WIP, The Captive Heiress. In the middle we have Maximilien Robespierre and his fiancee, Éléonore Duplay (who also show up in my novel). And last but not least, we have Saint-Just and his married childhood friend,Thérèse Gellé, who may have had a covert liaison (La Jacobine lays out the evidence, such as it is, here). There’s no portraits left of of Thérèse, but Lenotre describes her as “fair and freckled” in his “Romances of the French Revolution,” so I ran with that.

Shangguan Wan'er 上官婉兒 (664-710) was Empress Wu Zetian’s secretary, and came to be known as the “female prime minister.”
Her father and grandfather were killed because of their opposition to Empress Wu Zetian’s rise, and Shangguan Wan'er herself was forced into slavery. However, she became proficient at poetry and statecraft, and eventually impressed the empress so much that she was appointed secretary.
After a series of political intrigues and romantic liaisons, Shangguan Wan'er was implicated in a coup against one of Empress Wu Zetian’s successors - and beheaded as a result.

Woven into the Tapestry: How Five Women Shaped Ethiopian History
A book by Tekeste Negash and Tapestries by Berit Sahlström
Woven into the Tapestry offers a rich combination of history and art celebrating five extraordinary women: Queen Ahyewa, Makeda (the Queen of Sheba), Queen Eleni, Queen Taytu, and the British activist Sylvia Pankhurst. They each lived through crucial moments in Ethiopian history and were instrumental in shaping Ethiopia’s historical trajectory in ways previously neglected by historians. This book demonstrates the lasting impacts of these powerful women who dedicated themselves to the cause of a nation when they were needed most.
