LIVE

Dear God,

Your word tells me that I will be known by my fruits. I pray that the fruit of the Holy Spirit will grow and be evident in my life, that I will be a loving and Christlike example to others, that I will have love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Thank you for your Holy Spirit that makes this possible, for I know when these fruits are nurtured and grown that I will be happy and content and able to reach the potential you have for me; that I will be able to minister to others through the power of the Holy Spirit; that I will be pleasing to you. Help me please to live in the Spirit, not in the flesh.

I pray and thank you in the name of Jesus, amen.

Its hard to tell if I’m supposed to fight against the slamming door, or if I’m supposed to accept it. Welcome to the season of growth, I truly hope I come out of this wiser and happier.

Unconditional Love vs The Ego - What’s The Difference?

We have all heard of the term ‘unconditional love’ but what does it mean exactly? It is defined as the type of love that has no limitations or restrictive boundaries between two people. It is the complete acceptance of one another, their past hurts and traumas, their quirks and their imperfections. When you love someone unconditionally, you are still affectionate, compassionate and forgiving towards them; even when they annoy or upset you. This is the kind of relationship that many of us crave throughout life at any age; young or old. The reason is because unconditional love is the purest and highest vibration that a human being can experience. For some, it is the ultimate goal in their life.

However, one needs to go on a journey of introspection and self love to be able to experience real unconditional love. I always believe that to really know someone on a deeper level, one has to know themselves as well. By doing this you will begin to understand yourself much more; your emotions, your insecurities, your fears and your thoughts, which will help you become more open with your partner. This helps with building vulnerability, intimacy and trust between two people, which are essential for developing healthy, long-term and stable relationships. However, when we love someone conditionally or by our ego, this is where problems start to arise to the surface.

Unhealthy attachments, obessions, shame, guilt, fear, clinginess, narcissism and codependency all stem from our ego. You will know when you are in a conditional love based relationship because you will feel constantly empty inside when they are away from you or even when you are in their presence, but yet you still stay with them because you don’t want to feel lonely and disconnected. This is why many relationships breakdown, as many people mistake this kind of behaviour and love as normal, when it completely isn’t. Looking for love shouldn’t come from a place of searching to fill an empty part of you, as it isn’t a romantic partner’s responsibility. They can guide you along the way, but only to a certain point. Everyone has their own insecurites and imperfections and that’s okay. What is important here - is acceptance not aiming to be complete or free from flaws and emotional scars.

You will find that ego based love is always focused on the outside, never from within. These kind of relationships can spark up feelings of self-doubt and denial as well. Many people live in a delusion of being in a happy relationship, but inside they feel totally dissatisfied, leading to anxiety and depression. This is very common with people who are in codependent and dysfunctional relationships. Superficial relationships like this often show incompatibility between two people, hence why many partnerships break up very quickly and have very short timelines. Feelings of lust are one of the strongest components for developing superficial love, as you need to be magnetically drawn to them on a sexual level.

This is the common type of relationship which many people fall into when they feel like there is something empty inside themselves, so they look for someone who will have the responsibility to fill up that hole. Sometimes this can be a wound that has been inflicted upon us since we we children; such as a craving for love, validation and affection that we didn’t receive from our parents. This kind of trauma is possibly the biggest causes for love addiction. When we are children we are dependent on our parents to keep us warm, safe, loved and appreciated. This is why neglect and loneliness can be incredibly damaging to us as we grow into adults.

To overcome this, you can practice unconditional love to yourself to help you understand that you are not perfect and it is totally okay to feel any emotion - whether that is positive or negative. I find the more you judge and criticise yourself, the more you will criticise others. Completely let go of resistance and judgement of yourself - as doing this serves you no purpose at all. All it does is make you live in a bubble of negativity and negative energy. Allow yourself to surrender and release the urge to always be in control. You deserve to be happy and experience healthy and fulfilling relationships.

What Does It Mean To Think Catastrophically & Mindfulness Techniques To Help Overcome It

Catastrophic thinking is a type of irrational thinking, which is very common in people who suffer from anxiety disorders such as social anxiety disorder, avoidant personality disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, OCD, panic attacks and PTSD. This type of thinking usually has continuous thoughts about the future in a very negative way. These thoughts are usually what I call ‘What if?’ thoughts, and its these types of thoughts that lead to fear, dread, worry and distress. The main reason why many people with anxiety think this way is because they have a severe phobia of the unknown and what will happen to them in the future.

Psychologically speaking, these thoughts are just in our imagination from stored images from previous experiences such as traumas from our past. This is called fragmentation. After witnessing a trauma, our brains store the experience into images, which will be placed into our subconscious mind. This is the reason why some thoughts may come up and not make any sense to you or the people around you at all. Sometimes these distressing thoughts can come up in dreams and that is why many patients with PTSD and C-PTSD often have nightmares and night terrors.

However, there is a way of overcoming and healing from this dysfunctional type of thinking. Living in the present moment is the best way to heal from catastrophic thinking. This is because it gets you in tune with what is going on right now, at this moment in time - not yesterday, not tomorrow or in five or ten years from now. Knowing that you or your loved ones are completely safe at this very moment is a very good tool to use to stop disastrous thinking. Being here in the present, listening to your breath and being mindful of your thoughts and feelings will help with any kind of anxiety disorder.

As someone who has suffered from severe anxiety in the past, I have realised from my own experience that a lot of it stems from a lack of trust towards ourselves and others. When we lack trust, we start looking for reassurance and whether not we are making the right decision or not, and continuously ask for advice leading to frustration and even more doubt. This is why learning and allowing yourself to fully surrender and let go in a state of anxiety is important part of the healing process. I have previously written about trust and surrender here on this blog, if you want to read those.

Anxiety Visualisation Exercise

Close your eyes and imagine yourself sitting in the eye of a storm, the calm centre that lies behind the chaos that is going around it. You see pieces of debris floating around of all different sizes, which represent the thoughts you carry with you. Observe them and look at what they are showing to you, like you are watching a movie. You know that you are completely safe and serene in this eye of a storm and you know that it will not hurt you. Suddenly, you begin to see the storm move swiftly across, taking all of your negative thoughts with it. You feel a sense of deep peace and emotional freedom, like someone has taken a heavy bag off of your shoulders. You stand up and begin to walk towards the sun that is shining in between the clouds smiling, feeling liberated and full of joy. When you have finished this visualisation exercise, open your eyes.

Fruits of Your Craft 30-Day Challenge

  1. What has been your most influential resource in your study of the Craft?

I’m not sure I can identify a singular most-influential resource.  So, instead I’m going to provide a thought-provoking resource I’m investigating currently!  I’m really enjoying the book’s exploration of magical theory.  Despite reading many overviews of magical theory I haven’t really gotten what I’d consider to be a firm grasp on it yet (aka I don’t understand it well enough to engage in discourse about it, apply it to varied scenarios, and break it down to teach it to youth).  I feel like magical theory may be the next deep-dive I indulge in. This is helping me get a grasp of what key words and topics I will want to start my research with.

There’s going to be a lot more than just magical theory in this book, but I’m just at the start.  I’ll keep y’all posted as it progresses through the Little Work, which Duriel defines as a bit of a play on “The Great Work”, and as the everyday magical practices/work that is needed to truly progress towards Great Work and/or a balanced, healthy, and powerful magical practice.

∆Energy Breathing Meditation∆

This meditation is meant to help beginners who struggle to focus during meditation, assist those who wish to learn how to manipulate energy as well retrain those who may just need a refresher.

Start by getting into a comfortable position either sitting up with your back straight or lying down, whichever is easiest for you. Calm yourself, relax and softly slip into a meditative state, train your focus to your physical body, become aware of how relaxed and almost numb you become, then lift your focus right above your skin, feel and visualize your personal energetic field above you and all around you. Take in it’s shape, color, texture and the way it moves around and within you. Is it right above your skin? Or is there space between your physical self and your energy? How much?

Take a moment to answer all these questions and take note of them, becoming intune with your personal energy is of high importance for this exercise.

Once you are comfortable and aware of your energetic field, begin to become fully aware of your breathing, breathe softly but deeply, note it’s rhythm, the rise and fall of your chest, and link your energy to your breath. As you breathe in, visualize, feel and allow your energy to expand and swirl larger around you, and as you breathe out, shrink your energy back to you. Keep this up for as long as you can hold, or until it feels like second nature.

This may take a few tries if you’re new to energy work or tend to have very unruly energy. And this is okay. Good luck, and stay safe!!! Many blessings to you!!

∆Witchy Reminder∆

Don’t listen to the masses, or the loud individuals on the Internet. Your craft is yours and how you experience it is correct for you.

∆Starting spirit work∆

When starting spirit work the best thing to remember is to never give up. There’s going to be many blocks and struggles for some, but that’s okay, we learn and grow from these. Also be aware of what thoughts you may have coming from your ego. ‘I’ll never be able to do that’, 'I can’t do this’ are a couple toxic examples, but any thought regarding you not being enough in any way shape or form can also add to blocking you and your spirit work. A great place to start would be by beginning contact with entities closest to you, a god that you’ve always revered, passed relatives that you knew personally and/or your own spirit guides. Starting small and close to you is the most important thing to begin with.

Energy work and meditation with anxiety and attention or focus issues can thoroughly be frustrating. I personally have suffered from the same struggles, however the one type of meditation/energy work that I found easiest to keep my focus is what I’d consider ‘interactive meditations’. My personal favorite being the energy breathing technique.

This technique is learning to focus on your energy and breath and expanding your energy as you breathe in and shrink ingyour energy as you breathe out.

You can come up with your own or find others that incorporate your continued focus and practice with those. Remember that starting slow and with short goals is always important. Set a timer for one to three minutes at first and get confident in that, then continue to slowly add more time to your goal.

*Side note* Don’t be hard on yourself when you lose focus, just breathe and reground yourself and refocus, even taking a break and going to drink some water can help too! Just be kind to yourself. <3

Is spirit work dangerous?

In short, yes, it can be, spirit work can absolutely be dangerous and most likely will be for most individuals at least at some point. However there are ways to protect yourself and bring these negative possibilities down, such as, putting up barriers around yourself and your energy, doing a reading on the spirit work you’re thinking about doing before doing it, take precautions and ask them many questions in order to break down a possible facade, envoke protective guides, gods and spirits that you have previously trusted to protect you. Even setting up early warning systems is possible as well. For example, keep in mind the work you’re about to do for at least two to three days, and ask your guides to show you signs of how they feel towards it. If you know the name, nature or type of being that you are going to come into contact with, ask your trusted entities about them. They can much safer take a look at their energy and intentions than you can.

(I can also do a much deeper post into spirit work and it’s dangers if wanted as well)

∆Witchy Reminder∆

Depending on what you personally believe in, no life is truly lost. You can always send love, energy, helpful spirits and protection to lives that have passed on, as well as give newly lost life’s the strength they need and a lovely road for them to continue on their journey.

∆Witchy Reminder∆

Never stop learning. Every day is a new chance to experience and learn more, whether that’s of the world or of oneself. And if you are teaching others, always encourage questions!!! It’ll get you thinking from perspectives you otherwise never would look into.

Witchy Group?

Does anyone know of any kik or discord or other witchy groups? If not would anyone be interested in joining one? I’m looking for people wanting to learn and teach and share experiences and knowledge.

∆Witchy Reminder∆

Always remember that most spiritual experiences won’t always mirror those that others have. The universe, spirit (as a whole), spirit guides, deietes and so on, will usually prefer to speak or show you things in ways that you’ll understand. So don’t compare your experiences to other’s. How you perceive this world and the next and all the meanings, symbols, messages and signs of both will all affect your personal experiences.

∆Witchy Reminder∆

You can always start your day off with some much needed positivity. Meditate for five minutes after you wake, enchant your morning cup of Joe, anoint a brightly colored candle and burn it, give thanks to your patrons, angels, guides, gods and/or loved ones, bless your bath/shower water, enchant your makeup and color coordinate to the positive vibes you wanna attract, choose a stone or crystal to carry with you, there will always be many ways to bring more positivity into your every day, how will you do it!?

∆Witchy Reminder∆

Never disregard your creativity, the ways you can send and portray your intentions are endless.

∆Witchy Reminder∆

Witchcraft is not always black and white, there are things that can go wrong and people or beings with ill intent, no matter what, always protect yourself. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
