Happy Spooky season!
I’ve been swamped with uni work between a huge dress make and my dissertation so this year is a bit of a quick one. Its inspired by the very old picture kid me did way back in 2006/07 so about 16 years ago.
I actually went out of my way to use very similar materials for this redraw - ballpoint pen, watercolour (only adding a little pencil so I could put a bit more depth in there). The new version feels like it belongs in a horror comic to me but maybe thats wishful thinking.
I’ll try to post again sometime soon - have a good spooky season :)

To go with the arm I posted before (posted here again for context) Some more of the character design the arm goes with. Mask, as he’s known among the mercenary group he’s a part of, might be my current favourite character design I’ve done. He’s just got an aesthetic going that I really love.
The Mask and arm were always intended to match and now you can see both :D

Finished scrawlrbox challenge for may 2021! pretty happy with it. This was a fun box. Small review of posca pencils under the cut:
The posca pencils came in 6 colours of a similar tone: Blue, purple, Red, Teal, Beige and grey. Not the best mix of colours for getting a big range but enough to get a feel for the pencils.
The pencils have a wax core which I was originally worried about but it seems to be pretty stable - there were no broken leads despite me constantly dropping them and them being delivered by post. Like most wax pencils they did Not maintain a point for long but I found the point wore down faster than any other pencil I’ve ever worked with. So keep in mind you’d go through these pretty fast if you use them a lot.
Colour went down thick and creamy - I personally prefer oil pencils but if this is something you look for these do achieve that well. There was no note on how light fast they are but they blended fairly nicely with solvent without loss of pigment. However they are ridiculously expensive at £20 for a pack of 12 and £2.50 individually. While nice if you can get them cheaper - definitely not worth more than polychromos or a price so close to Caran d’Ache lumianance. Performed better than prismacolor but thats not hard given the pencil lead didn’t break every two minutes.

Okay turning this into a series! Which you can find on my redbubble over in my important links. (They make the cutest little fridge magnets).
The aim here is to try and capture different periods/decades ect through watercolour portraits featuring only the head and shoulders of the character. Right now I’ve done the 20′s, 40′s and 80′s. I have plans for designs going as far back as medieval periods.

I haven’t named either of them yet - I might get onto that because Im really enjoying their designs. I guess Im making my own little superhero team at this point between these two, Bee, Amon and possibly my bird boy. Maybe I’ll put up a post of them all together eventually.

yeah i’m still doing the unicorn thing even though October is over lol. This was for the prompt “rain”, so we have a Rainwalker unicorn. They tend to live near places where there’s a lot of precipitation. Though they don’t cause rain naturally, people think of them as rainbringers, as they often arrive along with the storms. Even if it’s not raining, they are always wet, leaving behind puddles from their stormcloud like hooves.

Unicorn October Day 8: Books

This is a type of unicorn known as a Lorekeeper; they have patterns on their backs that may shift between different languages in various patterns, and tails that appear like quill pens and horns that look as though they’re dipped in ink. Lorekeepers are small, gentle, and quiet, drawn to places of learning and traveling storytellers. They collect stories, information, and ideas, and have a perfect recall of memory, able to store millions of stories word for word after a single reading or listening that they collect over their many thousands of years of life. Those who prove themselves worthy to a Lorekeeper will be granted the honor of becoming their student, and learning many things otherwise lost to time.

Unicorn October Day ???: Sword
Here’s another Urban unicorn, something of a precursor to the Steamworks, known as a Heraldic due to its appearance in heraldic crests designs. Heraldics are odd amongst unicorns for their tendency towards weaponry; most unicorns will stick to simply using their horns and hooves for defense, but a Heraldic can and will pick up a sword and be able to wield it with some surprising skill, considering they have no hands.
Like Steamwork unicorns, their “armor” is actually a carapace that grows from them naturally. It is technically a protrusion of bone, though it has the feel of metal.

Unicorn October Day 6: Flowers
No witch for this one today because it took me three hours to draw all those damn flowers lol. Here’s another Overgrown Unicorn, you’d see one like this near a meadow or some such place, as opposed to the swamp one I drew before.
Unicorn + Witch October Day 5: Steampunk
Among the eldest of the Urban unicorns, Steamwork Unicorns are a proud, regal clan, native to only the oldest of cities, especially those who have yet to move on into the modern age. Their copper armor is actually a part of their body, growing from them like a carapace, and though they cannot use their steam wings to fly, they can use them to create clouds of smoke in which to create cover.
Steamwork Unicorns are extremely justice-oriented, and are often found presiding over courts or defending travelers during the sometimes dangerous night. Like other Urban Unicorns, they have no need for sleep.
Unicorn + Witch October Day 4: Poison
One would rarely think of unicorns and poison as complementary, as so many of their legends speak of their ability to destroy and nullify it. Some unicorns, however, are not so opposed to venoms and poisons.
Toxic Unicorns are rare, often found in the same natural locations as Overgrown unicorns, or drawn to apothecary shops. Toxic Unicorns are both poisonous and venomous, coated in a thin, slimy film that is paralytic to the touch, and having venom glands in their mouths and on their tail tips and dew claws. The horn is not venomous, instead having a gland inside its hollow shape that actually produces an antidote that can cure its own specific toxins. Each Toxic Unicorn has its own unique toxin and antidote mix.
Despite their frightening appearance and dangerous nature, Toxic Unicorns are quite docile, relying more on their appearance to scare away dangers than their poisons, and can be found having made strong bonds with apothecary witches, who are able to use their poisons and venoms in special potions for medicinal purposes.
They are among the smallest unicorns species, rarely growing larger than a small pony, and are extremely solitary, eschewing even their fellow Toxic Unicorns.
So i am once again diving headfirst into a new project with no ability to promise if i will finish it lol. I’m making a fan pokemon game! The working title is Pokemon Glitter and Gleam. I’m just working really on making art, designs, and assets this month, to hopefully (fingers crossed) work with Pokemon essentials to make the actual game next month as part of an informal game jam.
Above are the protagonists of G&G, Glitter and Gleam themselves! And below is Professor Willow, the Trifoli region’s resident Pokemon expert. Professor Willow specifically studies environments, and how it shapes and is shaped by both the Pokemon and people who live in them.
In Pokemon Glitter and Gleam, you have just arrived in the Trifoli region after accepting an internship with Professor Willow, to assist her in field research and studying the environments of Trifoli.

My werewolf character from my comic Ouramyr.
I wanted to make his design a bit chaotic because werewolves are this battle of humanity and instinct and to my design, Instinct is comsuming the humanity. I made the wolf part almost like a hood or this cloaking look. This character is minor threat to the main characters but still dangerous. If you want to know more on him and or the comic

Im doing a Myth Inktober and my comic, Ouramyr, as the main theme. Ouramyr is about all mythical creatures and beings in one world, which are called sages. An aristocrat named Inez sees that there importance brings balance to the world.
Elatha isn’t actually a moon being, He’s associated with it, and is called a prince of darkness. I just couldn’t pass up a dark prince~ <3 I want to add more to him but when he appears in the comic he’ll change a bit
