A few more traditional sketches out of the big bunch I have. This time it’s a few props and dnd related items. The potion is based off a prop I made for my campaign, the notebook was done with the help of Eine (he bound it, I made the stainer paper inside), and the dice are… well, dice. The pocket watch is just REALLY aesthetic!

gardenfoxywitch:

hi guys!! so i’m going to be making a series for the fall where i create certain recipes/spells/jars/sigils/etc. i want to do this for y’all and myself! this is the first post in the series and i’m not sure what schedule it’s going to be on but i’m excited! i hope my witchy family likes it as much as I do.

apple cinnamon tea is very good for the cold and for clearing your sinuses! make sure you keep breathing in the steam as you brew!

ingredients

  • 3 cups of water
  • 2 & ½ tbsp of chamomile (or you can use 2 teabags)
  • 1 apple thinly sliced (or ½ cup or apple juice)
  • ½ tbsp of ground (or 1 cinnamon stick)
  • honey
  • pinch of ginger
  • tsp of vanilla
  • milk (any kind)

directions

  1. start with heating the water to a nice sizzle and put in chamomile.
  2. let sit for about 5 minutes and then add apple(or juice), cinnamon, ginger, vanilla. sit for 4-5 minutes.
  3. pour out into cups. add a swig of milk— you can add or subtract the amount — this is a personal preference! add honey — same with milk— as much as you’d like. i add 1 tbsp.
  4. stir clockwise, imagine the feeling of going into a warm home after being out in the cold — a reddish white color— swirling around in your mug, and chant:

“With time ticking to a stop and the leaves beginning to fall,
Mother, hold me in your arms.
The breath of winter chills the air and leaves me cold,
Mother, keep me warm.”

visualize that warmth seeping into you. Take in the steam and breath in and out 5 times with your eyes closed. Then sip the drink!

enjoy!

**sidenote: I am referring to Mother Nature in the chant, but you can substitute mother for a specific god/goddess that you’re connected with:) I write all my spells and I use Mother Nature in most of them, but remember each spell is a little different for every person.**

Have you tried using some ingredients for spells in the night and in the daylight?  Natural ingredients may have different energy in one time of the day from the other.  Next time you make a spell or potion, try changing the time you use the ingredients and see if it makes an interesting change! °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°

Pink Moon Milk is a dreamy sleep tonic, made with creamy almond milk, honey, and tart cherry juice. Tart cherries are a natural source of melatonin, which is responsible for the regulation of the body’s internal clock and sleep-wake cycle. It’s the perfect bedtime drink, and you’ll love the flavors of cherry and almond together.

Ingredients

6 ounces almond milk preferably homemade, storebought tends to separate when heated

4 ounces unsweetened Montmorency tart cherry juice

1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup

½ teaspoon ashwagandha powder(optional)

dried culinary rose petals for garnish

Instructions

Heat almond milk and tart cherry juice over low heat in a small pot.

Remove from heat, and whisk in honey and ashwagandha. (If you want to make it really frothy, you can add it to a blender). Top with rose petals and drink warm.

Sorry for the repost! I took the cropped version from instagram, and although it was just a bit of ceiling missing I prefer the spacier feeling

Take a sip, babes!!

Welp. This is what happens when you work insane days and need to catch up with Sketchtember without breaking your back. But I actually SKETCHED - I’m very uncomfortable with just sketching- without over-tweaking for an hour.

A good friend of mine encouraged me to normalize messy sketches and maybe it’s rubbing off.

Oil Based Infusions

Macerate - oil based macerate is best if you want to extract herb’s essential oils. It can be eaten (if intended for this, like garlic oil) and used externally for rubbing (warming, pain relief), cosmetics or anointing. There are two ways for oil macerate:

  • “Hot method” - good for thicker matter. Chopped/crushed matter sprinkle with 40% alcohol (it helps the oil work with the herb). Place in a jar and pour over the oil. Place the jar in a pot of water, heat it to 40-50 C/ 104-122 F. Close the jar and set aside for about a week.
  • “Cold method” - Chop or crush the material a little, sprinkle with 40% alcohol (it helps the oil work with the herb). Place in a jar and pour over the oil. Leave for 2-3 weeks. Every day, rock the jar to wake up the herbs.

For each method, after the appropriate time, drain and refrigerate for up to 3 months.

Enfleurage - the oldest method of obtaining essential oils. It’s hard to do it at home without special equipment.  A good quality oil must be called an essential oil (it is nautical) and not a fragrance oil (synthetic). To make sure it’s best to check the composition, it should be short, preferably the essential oil itself. You can use them for aromatherapy, add them to cosmetics and ointments, and include them in spells.

Salve - also known as ointment, for external application. To prepare you need base oils (like Argan, Avocado or Jojoba oils, Coconut or Shea Butter). Melt it with beeswax and essential oils. You can also infuse base oil first with any herbal matter for specific purposes.

Alcohol Based Infusions

There are two ways to prepare stronger alcohol based infusions:

  • Tincture (cold method) - for this one you can use fresh or dried herbs. Put in a jar, pour over the alcohol and shake it. To prepare a stronger infusion you can use a bigger part of ready tincture in the same process and add a part of new alcohol.
  • Intract (hot method) - use fresh herbs. Heat the alcohol to 80 C/ 176 F and pour over the herbal material.

For both methods leave for 7-10 days and drain (this is for herbal tinctures). Use 40-70% alcohol and keep 1:5 proportion (herbal matter : alcohol). For stronger infusion you can use 1:10 proportion.

Liniments- alcohol based herbal infusion intended for rubbing.

For more go and check myInstagram.

Infusion
- is the process of extracting medicinal or flavor compounds contained in herbs in water, oil or alcohol, by leaving it over time. The temperature of the solvent and the time of leaving the herbal matter may vary depending on the extract’s strength, purpose and properties of the material.

Water Based Infusions

Herbal tea / tisane - obtained during the process called steeping (in a water based case it’s pouring boiling water over the matter and leaving it for several minutes). Best for fragile herbal material (like dried leaves and flowers), gives the weakest extract.

Decoction - resultant of boiling herbal or plant material. Best for stems, roots and bark (for example willow bark or dried elderberries). Gives a little bit stronger extract.

Macerate - herbs are put in a jar and poured with cold water and left for several hours, at the end you can make a water bath (put the jar in a pot, watch out for the bottom, do not boil). Best for herbs containing mucus like linden.

Tonic - can be prepared from tea, decoction or macerate. Usually for external use for skin care, so you can add argan oil, vitamin E or a few drops of essential oil. To preserve for a bit longer use add a teaspoon of vinegar or alcohol (be careful with the latest as it is for your skin).

Inhalation - vapor from an infusion. For example in case of sinus problems or coughing, you can add essential oils to the hot water and inhale.

This recipe sounds very bright and not something I would have come up with – but that’s the beauty of it, I didn’t have to! I transcribed it from a recipe given to me by my newest Spirit Teacher: hence the namesake. Given I am not currently shopping for love, I figured I would post it here (with her permission, of course) and see if all of you could get any use out of it. Be mindful, I haven’t tried this recipe, so I cannot vouch for its effectiveness – but Guiérda’s recipes haven’t let me down yet, I don’t see this being that one that does so.

Ingredients:

  • Hollyhock Flowers (dried and powdered; I’d say Hibiscus could be used in place of)
  • Honey
  • Blooms of Alisma lanceolatum (though I’d say any wetland, flowering fern might do)
  • Verydry,white wine or (dry, notsweet!)vermouth
  • Orange Rind/Peel
  • A Sprig of Fresh Thyme
  • A Pinch of Crushed Anise Seed

Preparation:

  1. In a clean, glass bottle (of any size) rinse first with spring water or the water of a moving (clean) creek. Allow this to dry, then add in just enough honey to coat the bottom and come roughly ½ inch up. To this, add, in order: Hollyhock powder, the orange peel, Anise seeds and just a scant bit of wine/vermouth to get things moving. Spin the bottle to combine the honey with the vermouth, warming it slightly if need be.
  2. Cap or cover the bottle and allow the mixture to sit overnight.
  3. The following day, pour in a small amounts of wine/vermouth incrementally, swirling with each addition to ensure proper mixing. When the mixture nearly fills the bottle, add in the fresh blooms and thyme, then shake gently. From the bottle take a drink, and allow the contents to fall from your mouth back into the bottle – basically backwash, there’s really no sweet way to put that. Cap/Cork.

Best served chilled, if drinking straight, or can be sneaked into food or drink of any kind. I’d say it would keep (refrigerated) for no more than a week.
