05.05.20 // Another sunny day in lockdown. Starting to condense the reading I’ve been doing lately - I like to work with slides as ‘note cards’. It forces me to only keep the essential info, but I can still edit and refine them as I go (unlike paper cards; plus they’re easier to organise and flip through). Also started using my moka pot again so I can make nice coffee at home!

Day 12 of Summer Studying Challenge

I’m going through hard times lately but yesterday, talking to my family and my boyfriend really helped me even though I knew it was going to be hard to talk about the problems that i have and indeed it was harder than I thought. Just don’t save your thoughts or emotions to yourself, it’ll never be the best way to deal with it so think about sharing without any fear. I’m just saying don’t mind me.. (baby if you see this ily)

12th July - What is the worst vacation you have ever been on?

I actually don’t remember having any bad vacations cause like it’s always better than staying at home in summer days, imo of course

100 Days of Productivity Challenge

2021, Day 1/100

5 Jan 21

Almost a week into the new year, and I’m excited to be back at work tomorrow! I spent today organising a list of books I’m hoping to get to this year, and started reading A Man Called Ove. Also, in procrastinating my work, I picked up this old book of essays on Jane Austen’s Emma, which led me to a quote I found so interesting!

Horace Walpole on Austen: ‘This world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel. Jane Austen’s novels are comedies, and can have little appeal to those who … believe thought inferior to feeling.’

My first thought when reading that quote was this: there’s two types of people in this world … thinkers (Austen lovers), and feelers (Bronte lovers). I like to think I’m a bit of both (though I’m definitely more of a feeler). I enjoyed studying Austen for her witty narration that turned the entire book of Emmainto a work of comedic irony exposing the triviality of gossip and parochialism. However, I found it so hard to get through, and not an enjoyable read. Jane Eyre, on the other hand, I simply loved. I was captivated and emotionally moved by it, and would consider it one of my favourite classics.

Sorry for the nerdy side-track. Would love to hear your thoughts!

5/03/2021 I took a break from social media after such a busy month I had to reduce my phone usage, hence the disappearance! I’m currently making maps for my Urban Design: Place Making module and its kind of lonely work, so I’ve made some new spotify playlists to get through it. Hope everyone had a nice February - the lockdown was getting quite hard for me! x Emily

It’s so important to keep study notes that might be useful in the future! Reblogging this because the notes I was making here, are the same notes I’m using for my current postgraduate essay.

20.07.19 | Today I started my schedule for the next semester of college. I’m gonna start my August layout of my bujo (this picture is the July layout) but I’m really lazy, I don’t feel like doing anything today, except to watch Stranger Things.

Hey there! This is my first pic here. I’m on vacations and this picture is a little old, but is a picture that I love so much. I would like to share a little about my study routine when I back to classes and I hope that you like it, guys

Hi! Got home from the mall and I’ll probably just rest now and will continue working tomorrow.

Im so happy to finally be able to go out. Glad that I only have two classes this semester. I get more time to study and rest at the same time.

Hope you’re all safe and well!

Savouring the quiet moments

✎ 12.06.2021 // spent the morning alternating between studying and reading while enjoying a gingerbread latte—I’ve been trying to get through the book thief for a month or so and it just hasn’t hooked me yet but I’m determined to finish it before the new year!

“If you want to be proud of yourself, then do things in which you can take pride.” – Karen Horney

29/07/2021, Thursday.

The past semester was a tough one! A string of lectures, laboratories and projects left no time for anything else.

The past academical year had been intense. I was excited to start and afraid to fail. It is over now, if I look back I could not be more proud of myself! I worked hard and passed every single exam with the maximum score, I would have never thought I could achieve these results.

Catching up:

✔ Advanced Physical Chemistry Laboratory: exam was on the 1st June. It was the third and last part of an annual course! I do not have to think about it anymore.

✔ Advanced Analytical Chemistry Laboratory: my group and I had to make a presentation on the 2nd July, we focused on soil and water elemental analysis. It had been difficult to focus on the presentation having so much else to study! I do not know how, but we managed.

✔ Analytical Chemistry: Environments and Materials: it has been interesting to study environmental chemistry. Understanding the mechanisms nature uses to defend itself against changes offered me the opportunity to reflect upon the anthropogenic impact on earth. Exam was on the 21st June.

✔ Physical Chemistry: Catalysis and Materials: it was the hardest one. The amount of material was insane and I felt submerged by it! In addition to the regular study hours (6-9 h a day) I had to present a project. It consisted in a graphical abstract, the image summarised the development of a new material. I presented it on the 26th July.

I am on vacation till the new academical year, my mind is a swirl of thoughts on how I should spend my time… Should I rest 2 months? Should I prepare for next year revising old topics? Should I find a traineeship?
