#trans love
I this age of hate and turmoil, it is great to see a totally queer TV series that presents gay love as something natural and a trans girl as a complete human being.
The actress who portrays Elle Argent, Yasmin Finney, is a trans woman.
Yasmintold PinkNews during a roundtable discussion that she is “so blessed” to be portraying Elle.
Yasmin said:
“It really, really, really is such a rare story that we get a trans character that doesn’t delve into gender dysphoria, or depression, or bullying, but just the positive – the friendship, the chosen family, the moving from an all boys’ school to an all girls’ school. Just everything that is natural about being trans is highlighted, and I’m just so happy to be that positive representation that we’ve needed for so many years.
“She’s just allowed to love herself with no society telling her what to do and how to act and how to look and who to love and how to be – she’s just her, and I think that’s what’s so beautiful about the trans story that we have in Heartstopper.”
It’s International Transgender Day of Visibility.
Although this is a festive occasion, it is also a date to protest against the harshness and the violence that our trans sisters and brothers face everyday
Let’s end trans discrimination now!
Tista Das, a transgender activist and actress, married her partner Dipan Chakraborty in a Hindu ceremony in Agarpara, Kolkata in front of friends, neighbours and family members.
The couple met while Tista was working at a trans legal clinic. Dipan is also transgender.
More over at Pink News.
“This wedding will boost the transgender community. It will have a huge impact as the trans community fears being rejected by society. I wish Dipan and Tista a happy married life. They are both wonderful human beings,” said Aparajita Bose, a member Human Rights Law Network Kolkata, to The Times of India.
Every act of trans acceptance, of gay love, anything that rejects strict heterosexual gender norms in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh is an act of anticolonial resistance. It’s been over 250 years, but brown people are slowly taking their countries back
So gorgeous.
I wish someone can make me happy for Christmas
