LIVE

Alright, my fellow humans with uteruses, lemme tell ya a secret.

Menstrual cups. They are the key to never paying another godsdamn dime on pads/tampons,etc. Ya buy one, sure, it’s a bit of an investment (around 30-40 bucks) but then… you don’t have to buy any more. Ever. Unless something happens to yours/you have a kid and need a bigger one now.

And they are wonderful for the enviroment b/c you never have to throw anythin away, ya don’t have to worry about plastic wrappers/waste, so on and so forth. They can stay in a full twelve hours without risk of TSS, and they DON"T LEAK. So no need to worry about unfortunate occurrences from unexpected changes in flow.

It’s been perhaps the best thing for my monthly dysphoria ever.

here’s an update pic as I will be going back on t — this time on gel. i’m so eager for my doc to fill this prescription. feeling immensely thankful and privileged to have health insurance.

i am praying that this week brings change to this country. thinking of all the lives lost. praying for those who are now homeless, without medications, food, family, safety…

today is heavy but i’m trying to stay hopeful.

I have been feeling a lot lately — almost like I’ve lost myself. I’ve been reflecting on a lot of things: who I am, who and why I love, manhood, accountability, brotherhood, community, dysphoria and being gentle with one’s self. Spending today on the river was definitely a much needed measure of self care.

Going through a difficult time right now; prayers, wishes, and good energy sent would be greatly appreciated. Please, people.

In short, I’m having a lot of difficulty getting access to the prescription manufacturers subsidy for the steroid inhaler that’s been keeping me alive for the past year. If I go off it, I will die of pneumonia without access to emergency health care, due to the violent anti Transmasc discrimination where I live.

So basically, I’m waiting to find out if I’m going to be allowed to live, or die, because I’m Transmasc and seen as a not valid life form and an open season civil rights target free from repercussions.

Please… “like” mark in support and send good energy and prayers… the situation is dire.

How do you create your own masculinity?

“I’m intentional with my body, the space around it, and the expectations of it. I didn’t transition until I was 30, so I had a lot of years to figure out who I was beyond gender. Being a man in the world is a weighty, strange, troubling, beautiful thing — and I’m grateful for the bullshit meter and compass I live by, and for the years I spent being invisible to the same culture that now welcomes me openly. It’s a perspective I don’t forget, and I think it gives me an orientation toward everyone — trans or not — that starts with character, not my projections of masculinity and femininity and whether or not you’re meeting or failing them.”– Thomas Page McBee, 34, Lower East Side, NYC

What does masculinity mean to you?

“That is something that changes for me and for everyone all the time. Generally, the answer can only be true in this moment through certain textures — the way something feels on my body at this time. But ultimately, masculinity is one range of options for gender expression among many. For me, masculinity feels like a certain amount of tension between comfort and vulnerability.” – Ketch Wehr, Yorkville, NY
