Janel Bailey: “I feel like black girls are often overlooked, and when we are included it’s only because we are black. I’d like to see more alternative black girls, black girls who do weird shit, black girls who do roller derby, black girls who date white people and are still black.”
Jenn Freeman: “I am interested in seeing everyday relatable black women in media, like my grandmother and mom– people who are familiar to me. Everyday black women inspire me. Living, surviving, being. You’re on the bus, I’m on the bus. We’re in this together.”

The Canadian Women’s Foundation is Canada’s public foundation for women and girls. They work to empower more women and girls to move themselves out of violence, out of poverty, and into confidence and leadership.
