This conversation plays through my head any time I see a “queer is a slur” bullshit post on this site or anywhere, really.

Someone just liked this, so I want to add an important note:
“queer is a slur” is a common tool used by TERFs to poison young queers against their own community. They teach young queers that using “queer” is against the rules because “queer is a slur” and then young queers repeat it because the elders in their queer social circle told them so.
Why? Because if young queers understand that queer is a loving and welcoming term for everyone who is not straight or does not match their birth sex, then TERFs lose all their power.
Because TERFs don’t just hate trans and non-binary people. They also hate bisexuals and pansexuals for wrecking their view that to be a wlw, you only live women with vaginas and to be mlm, you must only love men with penises.
But also, to reject the use of queer, you must reject intersex people because TERFs base their entire view on what set of genitals you have, and because intersex people don’t have textbook junk, TERFs don’t like them either.
And you must reject asexual queers across the board because so much of TERF defense is “I just wanna fuck a woman with a vagina or a man with a dick!” And if you have zero or minimal interest in fucking anyone, you wreck their arguments about what queer people want.
You know who else TERFs don’t like? Questioning people. Because to question your sexuality and realize you are straight is a loss for them. To question your gender and realizes it matches your birth sex is a loss for them. Why? Because to question either of these things means you examine who you are beyond a base level, and if you go behind a base level and understand even a basic sense of the confusing and difficult nature of sexual attraction and how it does and does not affect your gender, you can more easily see the holes in TERF arguments, which are all based on stereotypes of gender and sexuality.
The only reason the “B” makes it into the TERF acronym of queer culture is because if they left it at “LG” their hatred of the entire part of the community who is most comfortable using “queer” is a six-foot neon sign.
And to any bisexual TERFs I haven’t yet blocked who want to argue they are bisexual TERFs, so my argument about the use of “B” as a political abuse is invalid: The monosexual TERFs will have you against the wall in a fucking second. You are the sullied allies they put up with until you step out of line.
Lastly, the gay man in this episode is voiced by John Waters. He is a gay legend for tacky film and also an activist for queer rights. When his joke of the Baltimore Museum of Art naming a bathroom after him finally came true a couple of years ago, it was a gender-inclusive bathroom. And he brought his longtime friend and trans activist Elizabeth Coffey with him.
I am certain John Waters would tell you not to fuck TERFs in the same way he has said not to fuck people who don’t have books in their houses. And I am certain John Waters–an out and proud gay man known for his beautiful trash cinema and love and support of trans people–would tell you that queer is not a slur.

I don’t get why “trans men are men, trans women are women” is even a conversation. I mean, they are, but when I hear someone like “ooh she’s not a real woman she has a penis” all I can think is WHY DO YOU CARE. Why is this a public argument. Why are you so obsessed with knowing what other people’s genitals look like that if their pronouns, fashion choices or bathroom use don’t tell you, you feel deceived. Even if you don’t think trans people are real or gender is real or whatever, why is this an issue for you. Why aren’t you seeing something you think is stupid, rolling your eyes, shutting the fuck up and moving on.
Y’know, even if I was a transphobic shitheel who thought I knew better than trans people about their own bodies, nobody would notice because it would just never come up in conversation. Because other people’s genitals aren’t any of my fucking business. Why do you feel deceived by people letting you make incorrect assumptions about their bodies when their bodies are none of your business in the first place? Why do you feel like they need to advertise their biology to you? Why do you feel like, if you see someone who introduces himself as Bob and uses male pronouns but he doesn’t ‘pass’ as male, that the parts of his body you can see and use to deduce he might have a vagina are more relevant to the conversation than what he’s said to you? It’s none of your fucking business. People can do what they want with their bodies, and obsessing over other people’s genitals to the point of harrassing them about what bathrooms they use or what their name is or what sports teams they join is really fucking weird. Leave them alone.
I know I’m super late of on this, but it recently came to my attention how incredibly stupid and ignorant and hateful people on twitter were in response to Miss New York Nina Davuluri winning Miss America. They had the gall to say that she should not have won because she wasn’t even American, comparing her to Al-Qaeda and calling her a Muslim (as if that’s supposed to be something offensive). Seriously? Do people not realize how stupid they sound when they make comments like this? Its like saying that a banana and a war tank are exactly the same things. I must be deluding myself but last time I checked being American is a frame of mind, not just being born in the country. I could understand and even tolerate some of their ignorance if they did not understand that concept, but she was born and bred in the USA! I’m more sad than angry about this. It really goes to show the lack of morality and common decency that is rampant in this country; going to church and reading the Bible does not constitute morality- it is just being a good human being, open and understanding.
So I just lost a friend.
They’re not dead, but they are to me.
They’re an older white woman, a family friend for years who was a bit like an aunty to me.
But, amongst all the covid panic and current world chaos, she shared and posted some aweful stuff and I realised she was NOT who I thought she was.
Racist and homophobic post came to light and I’m honestly crushed.
I’m lucky, as far as i know my family aren’t bigots, as by choice my friends definitely aren’t either.
But a friend who was made family has betrayed me.
Unknowingly, but the damage is still there.
Being Bi and (a decent fucking human) seeing racist and homophobic posts like that was a huge slap in the face
I might be a closeted bisexual (aside from close friends) but bigotry is bigotry.
I’m fucking mad.
When you call bigots “insane” “psychopaths” “sick” “crazy” or “wrong in the head” you’re actually moving the responsibility for bigoted acts from the systematic racism, sexism, transphobia, misogyny, etc in our society to disabled/neurodivergent people and that is one great example of what happens when you all forget to include ableism in your intersectionality.
People say it often enough that they think you can’t be horrible without being mentally ill - a killer MUST be mentally because a “sane” person couldn’t do that

Other LGBT people can absolutely be “the enemy”. Cis LGB people can be transphobic, non-bisexuals can be biphobic, non-lesbians can be lesbophobic etc.
Am I supposed to ignore those people just because they’re in my community? Am I supposed to bite my tongue when I see other LGBT people telling me that bisexuals are diseased whores, that trans people are mentally ill, that lesbians are all disgusting man haters or that gay men are a plague because “other LGBT people are not the enemy”?
Also, what on earth is even “the right”? What “right”? Which party? Of which country? Its ridiculous to use a generic “right” as a scapegoat because you don’t want to acknowledge that LGBT people can be bigoted other LGBT people.
Solidarity without holding your own community accountable is absolutely pointless, as its pointless to blame a generic group of bad guys for the actions of people within your community.
I wanna add that not only can LGBT people be bigoted towards each other, you can also be bigoted towards people like yourself. If bullies who are gay can be homophobic towards, and harass, their openly gay peers, is it such a stretch to point out that trans people can say transphobic things? That bisexuals, particularly those who are in denial of being bisexual, can spread biphobic misinformation? what about lesbian TERFs, that regularly spew lesbophobic rhetoric, claim that all lesbians have the same preferences, and erase trans lesbians?
Ever heard of the phrase “too gay to be straight, too straight to be gay” OP? bc that’s a sentiment echoed by bisexuals who feel as though they are “too gay” to fit in with their straight peers while being simultaneously being “too straight” to fit in with their gay peers (i.e., to exist in LGBT spaces, and this becomes magnified if they are dating an opposite-sex partner).
The LGBT community may be full of rainbows, but it sure as hell isn’t full of fucking sunshine!
Just because two people are lgbt doesn’t make them friends. It doesn’t mean they respect each other. lgbt people can 100% still be bigots.

It’s yet another bigoted attack on trans people just trying to live their lives.
Less than 4 days after the Govt not deeming trans people worthy of protection from conversion therapy (which the U.N. describes as amounting to torture). Their quango, the EHRC has published ‘guidance’ on single sex spaces using a definition of biological sex that contradicts the Equality Act.
This has literally been concocted with the purpose of banning trans people; negatively & irrevocably impacting our ability to just live normally & do things like go to a restaurant or on a night out with friends.
I don’t enjoy writing posts like the ones over the last few days but it’s important that people understand what this Govt & their supposedly impartial bodies actively do to discriminate against already marginalised communities.
Please write to your MPs.
Please don’t vote Tory.

This is America: No matter who you are, you have a constitutional right to express your opinions – even if said opinions are astoundingly stupid.
You do not, however, have a constitutional right to expect others to be happy about it. In 1996, the Ku Klux Klan held a rally in the unlikely town of Ann Arbor, Michigan, where they found themselves opposed by an equal but opposite force of protesters. Although police in riot gear did a bang-up job of keeping the two sides apart, one guy bedecked in SS tattoos and Confederate flags strolled through the wrong side of the crowd. It’s unclear whether he meant to join the march, or if he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time (and by “the wrong place at the wrong time,” we of course mean Earth, anytime in the last 70 years), but regardless, the chase was on.
Mob mentality is an ugly beast. What began with simply chasing the man away soon transformed into a probably well-deserved, but certainly illegal, beatdown. And then, in an act of unbelievable courage and mercy, Keshia Thomas – an 18-year-old black woman – threw herself atop the man to protect him from the rampaging crowd.
The protesters, moved by the sight of Thomas putting her well-being on the line for the sake of a man who’d just as soon spit on her in return, backed off. Thomas never saw the guy again, but months later she was approached by another man, this one offering thanks. When she asked what for, the young man replied, “That was my dad.”
