Here I am with a new special in “Focusing on”! Today’s subject is a Japanese rock band, whose style is disruptive and hard to miss. We’re talking about Breakerz, formed on 2007 and composed by Daigo Naitou (vo.), already famous for his solo project Daigo☆Stardust, Akihide Satou (gt.), who is recognized for his solo works and for the short-lived project Never Land, and Shinpei Inoue (gt.). The band name comes from their own concept, based on breaking all the possible musical schemes in order to bring new and energetic music. Their genre is a fusion between English rock music, provided by Akihide, and American style, brought by Shinpei, accompained by Daigo’s sensual voice. Their debut occurred on July 2007 with the first album Breakerz.

One of the lead-tracks, named Wake up my soul, sees a strong and rebel rock sound, well characterized by each member’s work; the song is about the importance of ties in a changing world. It has been followed by the second album Crash & Build, the first mini-album Ao no mirai(Pale future) and the singles Summer Party/Last EmotionandSekai wa odoru/Shakunetsu(Dancing world/Hot).

The first lead-track has an heartfelt rock melody, kept up by a vibrating rhythm and nice vocals; the song is about the importance of ties in an ever-changing world. It has been followed by the single Angelic Smile/Winter Party, the third album Big Bang! and the singles Grand Finale,Everlasting Luv/Bambino,Hikari(Light) and Love Fighter -Koi no Battle-, the fourth album Fighterz, the acoustic mini-album B.R.Z. Acoustic and the single Gekijou(Passion)/Heaven.

The first title-track is a pretty animated rock track, with a fluid rhythm and a catchy melody, hard to forget; the song is about the feelings, so powerful to make someone losing his mind. It has been followed by the singles Bunny Love,Tsukiyo no itazura no maho(Magical trick of night light)/Climber x ClimberandLast † Pray/Zettai! I love you(I absolutely love you!), the fifth album Go, the singles Miss MysteryandOverwriting/Nounai Survivor(Survivor in the brain), the compilation Breakerz Best -Single Collection- and the single Rusty Hearts.

The title-track sees a faster and more energetic rock sound, with relevant dark and gothic shades; the song is about fighting until the end for the loved one. It has been followed by the single We Go, the sixth album 0 -Zero- and the single Yaiba(Sword). The band came back with new releases after two years, starting with the single Ikusen no meikyuu de ikusen no nazo wo doite(Solve thousand of mysteries in thousand of labyrinths), followed by another single, Yume monogatari(Dream story), the seventh album X, the singles DxDxD/Great Ambitious -Single version-,Atarashii sekai he atarashii jidai he -Reiwa version-(In a new world, in a new era),Yamiyo ni mau aoi tori(Blue bird dancing in the dark night), the compilation Breakerz x Detective Conan Collaboration Best and the single Barabara(Scattered)/Love Stage.

Since 2007 Breakerz has always distinguished for their fresh and engaging sound, allowing them to deliver good and flowing tracks without any effort. The rocking trio composed by Daigo, Shinpei and Akihide manage to combine several elements in each song, bringing their energy into each note and having fun with the most unexpected shades. Their style allowed them to be more popular, especially among anime fans, since they provided several themes for the famous anime Detective Conan, appeared as guests in several tribute albums, such as Tribute of Mucc -En-andHide Tribute Impulse and are planning to release a new single, I Love my Daughter, on February 2021. But we shouldn’t forget about the activities of the single members, which are still active and prolific; Daigo released a bunch of singles between 2013 and 2018, Akihide recently brought out his eighth album Loop World, and Shinpei did a solo live project in 2019. So Breakerz is one of the band which is hard to miss within the scene, especially if you like energetic melodies.
