Two years ago, I lost my little feathered soulmate. I had 8 great years with you, when some didn’t think you’d make it past 2.
I miss our adventures, dem scritchable cheeks, that beaky smile. You carried me so far out of my shell and made me a more compassionate human.
Although you’re gone, your legacy lives on through every kind act towards all birds, no matter their size, their ability, or plumage.
Today, on Cody’s Memorial Day, remember birds in needs. Donate to a bird charity of your choice, be it an avian rescue, conservation, rehab, or sanctuary group. Take time to learn about companion bird struggles. You can start with Parrot Confidential on PBS. (It’s streaming on Amazon).
The word of bird is getting out there, but we still got a long ways to go. Do it for Cody! Do it for the Birds!

Look at my bird
My nan has had these up in her house since before I was born.
I always loved them, and asked her recently where she bought them. Turns out, she made them!
A Major Mitchell’s cockatoo for baby’s first linocut! This was printed using acrylic paint (applied with a brush) which is really…. evident…. when looking at the finish… so I think I’m going to need to invest in proper supplies asap.

I tried to get out of the house for a bit with Yuki. She had fun while I was eaten alive by flies but it felt empty without Curly. Yuki had a blast saying hello to all the people we passed and confused my friend’s puppy when she said hello to him. Poor puppy didn’t know what to make of Yuki after she spoke to him and you could see the gears turning in his little head.
