Here’s the hilarious thing about pro-Amber people: this case isn’t about who abused who, because Amber never cared to press charges because that would have been disproven in court just like its being disproven now, what with Amber’s legal team insulting the intelligence and threatening the careers of the vast majority of witnesses who were around Amber during and after the alleged abuses. Abuse that her legal team is no longer trying to prove occurred and begged the judge to dismiss the trial because even if they can’t prove Johnny ever laid a hand on her any time she claimed he did, he did verbally abuse her, and isn’t that enough? So what if she may possiblyhave boardline personality disorder. She’s stressed out being a girlboss, so she’s not to be blamed for elaborately orchestrated allegations she makes.
This case is about defamation of character and if Amber’s interview damaged Johnny’s career. Proving he did abuse her is supplemental TO that, but the issue remains: was Johnny cancelled for it?
Amber’s lawyers are happy to say he was cancelled, but blame anything else but her interview, but using the headlines of articles – not the articles themselves, mind you – from undetermined times of publication to say that a man who has been in 3-4 movies a year almost every year since Edward Scissorhands in 1990 and has been an addict that ENTIRE time, has somehow, suddenly lost Hollywood’s patience with his addictions and it just so happened to coincidentally have aligned with Amber’s tell all.
So, the dilemma for pro-Amber people is that this is a LEGAL situation and not just an opinioned moralistic diatribe. Are YOU willing to look someone in the eye and use the actual LEGAL point of this whole trial: “It remains to be seen if Johnny Depp did or did not batter Amber Heard, however, it cannot be overstated that Amber exposing Johnny for the alleged abuser he is did NOT cause his sudden expulsion from major Hollywood productions, such as Fantastic Beasts and Pirates 6. Especially since Amber did not technically name Johnny as the abuser in her interview so it remains to be seen if Amber was even referring to Johnny or if public speculation has led to naming Johnny as the abuser, which, in that case, also makes it not Amber’s fault that Johnny lost his deals.”

No one leaves until the jury has.
Amber Heard broke that rule today by storming out after her attorney gave up on her during that redirect - I honestly wouldn’t be shocked if that’s what happened after AH threw them under the bus yesterday - before the jury and before the judge. The disrespect is overwhelming, and her true colours are really starting to show.
Honestly, at this point, if you’re following the trial properly and you still think Heard is a victim/telling the truth, there’s no hope for you anymore. Her stories are filled with so many lies, she threw her own legal team under the bus by claiming that she gave them all her medical records/photos but that they haven’t used them, she hasn’t produced any proper evidence other than pictures of Depp asleep and staged or edited photos, none of her witnesses said they saw Johnny hit her in their testimonies whilst multiple witnesses for Depp have confirmed she threw things at him/was violent… No one with two brain cells can watch the cross examination today and believe Heard is telling the truth.
i was gonna write and post a long wall of text about the situation but honestly I dont have that kind of energy to deal w it anymore and it’s just tiring. I’ll just say that the shit with Depp V Heard is fucked and i’m glad that we’re able to get more clarity on the situation since these things matter, but I explicitly support people with PDs such as ASPD, BP, NPD, and HPD and it disappoints me that once again completely unrelated innocent people are going to continue to get thrown under the bus because neurotypicals cannot comprehend why or how someone would hurt and abuse someone else unless it had to do with a “scary” mental illness.

I can’t believe this circus has gotten to the point that I feel the need to say something, but I’m gonna say it: I believe Amber Heard.
I believe the case that proved 12 out of 14 cases of Johnny’s abuse of Amber to the civil standard. I believe the ex-girlfriend who has adamantly denied accusations of Amber abusing her. I believe the makeup artist who covered her bruises. I believe the hotel staff that had to clean up the messes of his violent rampages. I believe Ellen Barkin, a former partner of Johnny, who has also testified about his volatility. I believe Amber’s sister, who witnessed some of the violence. I believe her good friend, who was brought to tears while describing the fear she had for Amber’s wellbeing. And I believe Amber herself, when she says she feared for her life at times in their relationship.
I so wanted to dismiss this case as celebrity drama and move on, but the cesspit of social media has not allowed me to do so. Everywhere I go, I see reaction videos and memes. It’s being consumed like a fandom war—to the point that people genuinely thought it was acceptable to use a description of sexual assault as a tiktok sound. I don’t care if they thought it was a lie; the content was horrifying and triggering and not amusing at all. And it was rape culture at its finest (“Amber honey, that sounds like fun. Why are you complaining?”).
YouTube recommends videos of this case like it’s the next influencer cancel-war, and the comments are full of the most vile, misogynistic sentiments I’ve ever seen. “Hystrionic Personality Disorder” is being treated like a legitimate diagnosis (but only for women, of course), rather than the 21st century version of hysteria—aka a diagnosis specifically designed to discount the authentic distress of women. (Ever read Yellow Wallpaper?)
I do believe that men can be, and are, victims of domestic abuse. They deserve unequivocal support. But beyond the ravings of fangirls, the proof is simply not on Johnny’s side. To be fair, I actually believe Johnny about many things—I believe the multiple times he told witnesses (and was recorded admitting) that he cut his own finger. I believe his texts admitting that he wanted to drown then burn Amber and then rape her corpse. I believe that Amber hurled horrible insults at him and struck him, as abuse victims often do when provoked by their abusers. I believe the many, many vile things he’s said about/called women.
And yeah, it’s a real disappointment. I understand the nostalgia surrounding Johnny Depp. In many ways, he defined the media of my generation. But when I say I don’t give a shit, I really mean it. I believe he abused his wife. And I stand with Amber.
The only thing I’m a little shaky on is how JD’s team talks about how AH does not have PTSD. It’s possible she does have cPTSD from childhood abuse or otherwise. The recordings reflect hardcore abandonment trauma, which is a telltale borderline trait. If AH hadn’t taken her lies this far and caused so much harm, I would have more compassion for her bc she does need serious help.
Understandable. But that’s not what Amber, herself, is claiming. She claimed that she suffer from PTSD, not cPTSD. There’s actually a difference there, and not only that, she’s claiming that suffered this from the hands of Johnny, not her childhood at the hands of her father.
There’s a reason while she was on the stand, she talked very, and I do mean, very little about her childhood and the alleged abuse from her father. Even when Whitney on the stand, Elaine didn’t really ask about their childhood.
If Amber’s team would’ve dived in to it, it would contradict her earlier claims to suffering from PSTD from the relationship. That’s simply why she had an IME in the first place.
So yeah, it’s could very well be a possibility, but that’s not the issue that was brought forth by her. And to speculate otherwise, is kind of disrespectful to her imo.
Not only did Depp, his lawyers, the jury, and the American people just ruin Amber Heard’s career and life in general, but the Depp v. Heard trial is going to (if not already) annihilate the credibility of domestic abuse survivors and shift public opinion of #BelieveWomen & #MeToo. This killed a movement. Thanks for all your hard work, everybody!
I’ve pretty much been actively avoiding hearing anything about the depp/heard case but now that there is a verdict, it’s a fail for women’s rights.
I’ll explain
She might be abusing him. He might be abusing her. But, and what I think happened, maybe they’re both shitty and abusive to each other because there doesn’t have to be a one sided abuse situation.
But this whole thing is masquerading as ‘men can be victims too’ is literally just giving voices to male abusers that can counter sue their victims. NOT saying there aren’t male victims but depp has multiple cases of domestic violence against his record from more than one partner. Of course she’s admitted and been caught lying over some really gross things too.
Everyone was ecstatic to attack her for things she did and act like he was a poor little meow meow when there are multiple cases from multiple sources over the years of DV cases from him. The media, memes, even feminist pages on the internet jumped on to trash her and raise him up. It was much more than when men are prosecuted for DV. When she cried they called her acting. When she remained calm they called her cold. When she said nothing they said she was hiding secrets and when she talked they said she was lying. There was absolutely no way for her to win this.
Why did they hate her so much more than him even though there’s proof that they’ve both acted abusive to each other?
Sexism. A lot of people jumped on to hate her because they hate women. It was truly something to see the most woman hating side of internet AND feminists on the same side of the issue.
So now men who have domestic violence history can counter sue their victim because of this case. He didn’t need the money, she owes him something like 3 times her worth, and it gives an opening for abusers to use. I’m not saying she’s right OR him. But that this case will be a bad precedence DV survivors.

i’ve seen many say the verdict is going to do good for male victims of abuse but I’m not so sure we should readily trust that this verdict will be championed correctly and I think all of us are gonna have to contend with the knowledge that whether you support the verdict or not, in instances and at some point going forward it will be used in the wrong way and what we are going to do about that when it does
I’m seeing a lot of people either misunderstanding the verdict or misrepresenting it as “the jury beleived she was abused but decided she shouldn’t/couldn’t talk about it” when that simply isn’t the case. Because of this, I’ve put this together to summarize what the verdict actually was and what it meant:
On Johnny Depp’s Claims:
Claim 1- “I spoke up against sexual violence-and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change.” - Verdict:DEFAMATION
Claim 2- “Then two years ago, I became a public figure representing domestic abuse, and I felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out.” - Verdict: DEFAMATION
Claim 3- “I had the rare vantage point of seeing, in real time, how institutions protect men accused of abuse.” - Verdict: DEFAMATION
Awarded Damages
Summative (Damages for harm rendered by statements) - $10 Million Dollars
Punative (punishment or “we just don’t like you Amber” damages) - $350,000 Dollars (the cap for Virginia, they attempted 5 million dollars)
On Amber Heard’s Claims:
Claim 1 - “Amber Heard and her friends in the media used fake sexual violence allegations as aboth a sword and a sheild, depending on their needs. They have selected some of her sexual violence hoax ‘facts’ as the sword, inflicting them on the public and Mr.Depp.” - Verdict: NOT DEFAMATION

Summary of what this means:
What this means is that the jury not only did not beleive that Amber Heard was abused, but beleived that she did start a malicious abuse hoax camapaign against him. We can see that because they ruled all of Johnny’s Claims as defamation and and the first and thrid claim, which talk generally about Amber Heard starting an abuse hoax, as NOT defamation.
However, it seems they either didn’t beleive, or didn’t beleive that it was proved by better weight of the evidence that Amber and her friends roughed up the apartment specifically. So what they didn’t beleive was the more specific claim, not the general ideas.
THIS DOES NOT MEAN THEY RULED SHE WAS ABUSED BUT SHE’S JUST NOT ALLOWED TO TALK ABOUT IT. THIS MEANS THEY RULED SHE WASN’T ABUSED AND WAS LYING ABOUT IT MALICIOUSLY IN AN ATTEMPT TO DEFAME JOHNNY DEPP.
I have seen so many posts where people are making points about why they think Depp is right and Heard is wrong, and their replies are full of Amber Heard supporters saying just vile things such as “k**l yourself” “I hope you get r*****” and “when your partner abuses you you’ll get the sympathy you receive :)” and other just digusting things like that.
This is coming from a place of support for either side, but concern for the people posting these comments mental health. If you have ever written a comment like/a tempted to do so this I want to suggest you:
1. Take a breath
2. Take a break from social media and the internet for a little bit, atleast a few hours
3. Talk to somone.
Because this level of vitriolic anger over a celebrity court case that doesn’t involve nor effect you is just plain unhealthy.
AH needs to understand the difference between freedom of speech and making up lies to ruin a man’s life. The verdict isn’t a setback for women. Her lies are what made it harder for women to be believed. This has proven that both women and men can be victims of abuse, and when you come forward, do it with the truth.
