Hey y'all! So im gonna start taking requests! I’m going to start doing requests only for Teen Wolf(Warning: I’m only in season 3) and Hamilton. Cause since im just starting I thought these would be the easiest to start with. I wont be doing personalized fan-fic (With your name, appearance, ect.) but, I can do anything other than that. I’ll leave the topics I’m uncomfortable with in the tags with a / by it. So start sending your fan-fiction requests y'all!

“oh we play
in autumn days
won’t lay down our heads till the day is won
won’t stop running till we reach the sun
chasing all the things that are keeping us young.”

a doodle of henri and john as little kids !!

john had an older brother before him, henry jr. the first (or as some of us like to call him, henri), born in 1753 that passed away very young somewhere in august of 1758. i wanted to draw these boys and a picture from john´s childhood times for some wholesomeness, so here they are looking at an ant colony :D

“In 1755 the first daughter to survive infancy, Eleanor, whom the family called Nelly, was born. Near in age, the three siblings [John, Henry, and Eleanor Laurens] formed a close-knit team of playmates. It was a happy childhood, supervised by loving and attentive parents, marred only by the specter of death. In August 1758 the younger Henry died. His death was Jack’s first encounter with the transitory nature of life, where a loved ones existence seemingly vanished like mist.”

Hamilton to Laurens April, 1779:

“Cold in my professions, warm in ⟨my⟩ friendships, I wish, my Dear Laurens, it m⟨ight⟩ be in my power, by action rather than words, ⟨to⟩ convince you that I love you. I shall only tell you that ’till you bade us Adieu, I hardly knew the value you had taught my heart to set upon you. Indeed, my friend, it was not well done. You know the opinion I entertain of mankind, and how much it is my desire to preserve myself free from particular attachments, and to keep my happiness independent on the caprice of others. You sh⟨ould⟩ not have taken advantage of my sensibility to ste⟨al⟩ into my affections without my consent. But as you have done it and as we are generally indulgent to those we love, I shall not scruple to pardon the fraud you have committed, on condition that for my sake, if not for your own, you will always continue to merit the partiality, which you have so artfully instilled into ⟨me⟩”

VS

Hamilton to Meade August 27, 1782 (Ironically the day Laurens died):

“Our correspondence hitherto has been unfortunate, nor in fact can either of us compliment himself on his punctuality but you were right in concluding that however indolence or accident may interrupt our intercourse, nothing will interrupt our friendship. Mine for you is built on the solid basis of a full conviction that you deserve it and that it is reciprocal and it is the more firmly fixed because you have few competitors. Experience is a continued comment on the worthlessness of the human race and the few exceptions we find have the greater right to be valued in proportion as they are rare. I know few men estimable, fewer amiable & when I meet with one of the last description it is not in my power to withhold my affection.”

The message of the letters is essentially the same:  “It’s been a while since you left. I really care about you. I detest humanity and was determined not to get close to anyone, but here you are: An exception to the rule. And, because you are a rare exception, I am unable to prevent myself from possessing this affection for you that you very much deserve.” But the way that Hamilton expresses those things to Laurens and then to Meade is so vastlydifferent.

“That’s just the way people talked back then,” you say, but this is the same person writing to his two dearest friends from the war. Writing to the only exceptions of his “I hate everything” statements and yet it’s obvious that he feels two very different kinds of love for his two best friends when writing these letters. Hamilton’s words to Laurens were not ‘just the way people talked back then’ We have a direct comparison of what the same message Hamilton is trying to convey reads like to two different men that he holds very near and dear to his heart, yet feels two completely different kinds of love for.

You can argue the time in Hamilton’s life in which he wrote the two letters and how things had changed in those 3 years might have had an affect the language of them, but I still think that it merits consideration. Hamilton loved Meade as a friend but loved Laurens as something far more than that and I think that the language of those two passages really exemplifies that.

Stayed up late staring at 18th century portraits, trying to figure out what they might have looked like

I realised I had a piece @hamiltonshorn posted a few years ago at the back of my mind while drawing this, but I couldn’t find it anymore – though at least Laurens’ floofy hair was inspired by their art. And I definitely picked up the freckles from @ciceroprofacto

Washington: [walks in to see the Revolutionary Set in his living room]

Washington: Guys! I gave you a key for E-MER-GEN-CIES!

Laurens: We were out of DOR-I-TOS!

Lafayette: That shirt looks great Alex!

Hamilton:Thanks!

Lafayette: But I bet it’d look better on John’s floor.

Laurens: Are…are you hitting on Alex for me?
