I am so happy to say that my Kickstarter campaign for Standard Cameras was successfully funded only 6 days in! There is still plenty of time to pledge for a sweet large format camera that you build yourself though! :) I would deeply appreciate it if you took some time to have a look, share it with your friends, and maybe support the cause? check it out at http://4X5.XYZ

So at work today, my boss decided to have me take some photographs of old cameras for the shop’s eBay store. I really like how some of them turned out and he was nice enough to let me take home some copies of the files to edit and add to my portfolio!

Images taken with a Canon 5D Mk III, Canon 24-105 f/4L, Canon 100mm f/2.8L Macro, using Profoto D1 strobes and PocketWizard flash triggers.

Assignment: Exploitation

For this assignment we had to pick an object and exploit one of it’s features. I choose to shoot my sunglasses and exploited the lenses. We had to use the large format to shoot this assignment which was a bit of a pain in the butt because of how large it is.

7E Guest Artist - Todd Mclellan

Things Come Apart is a collection of photographs by Todd Mclellan who captures the dismantling of mechanical and electronic objects of past and present. Disassembled objects are intricately arranged in a grid-like fashion or photographed in spectacular explosion.

The engineering and craftsmanship of products are captured in a state of order and disarray. Capturing components laid out in meticulous order allows the viewer to appreciate the enormous design and engineering effort applied to even “ordinary” products.

I have to say, photographing these marble pendants, and especially sorting through the photos later, makes me feel like i’m trying to photograph rocks being sexy.

“These rocks want to go home with YOU”

“Sultry gems are TOTALLY gagging for it!”

“Fondle polished local stones TONIGHT!”

You’ll never see them differently now. you’re welcome.
