Kwansei Gakuin University quarterback Mitsuhiro Izu (6) makes a run during the 70th annual Rice Bowl American football championship final. Tokyo Dome, Tokyo, Japan. Tuesday January 3rd 2017. The X League champions, Fujitsu Frontiers beat the  collegiate League title holders Kwansei Gakuin University 30-13. The Rice Bowl, one of the oldest Japanese bowl games, It began in 1948. The current format, in which the collegiate champions and X League champions face one other, started in 1984.
