#rivals to lovers
“Did your wish come true?” //“I am not entirely certain yet.”//“You shall have to let me know,” Celia says. “I hope it does. I suppose in a way, I made the Wishing Tree for you.”
“I made a wish on this tree years ago,” Marco says // “What did you wish for?” Bailey asks, hoping it is not too forward a question // “I wished for her,” he says.
WILL I EVER RECOVER FROM THIS *SCREAMS*
no but remember when Marco Alisdair asked Celia Bowen if she remembers all her audiences and she said she only remembers the ones who look at her the way he does and then he asked her what way might that be AND THEN CELIA SAID THE ICONIC “LIKE THEY CAN’T DECIDE IF THEY ARE AFRAID OF ME OR IT THEY WANT TO KISS ME” AND MARCO HAD THE ABSOLUTE AUDACITY TO ANSWER WITH “I’M NOT AFRAID OF YOU”-
Prompt #35
Childhood crushes hidden as rivals constantly and unknowingly mutual pinning each other, spending time together outside of competing against each other. Claiming that it’s all to know their enemies weaknesses. Bad mouthing the other behind their back, except that’s all they ever talk about. They share everything in common but both being too scared to admit it acted like they hated the others guts, even if everyone else can see right through it like a clean window. They say they want to see the other suffer, but would hurt anyone who even looked at the other the wrong way - and if the other asks about it they claim that they want to be the one to hurt the other, for it to be “more fulfilling than watching it happen”
Prompt #19
“Such a pretty boy for such a fowl mouth”
“You’re one to take asshole !”
“Awe don’t be like that baby, you’re absolutely adorable though when you’re mad”
“Keep talking like that and I’m gonna lose my shit”
“You never fail to look so handsome while you’re passionate about anything”
Prompt #8
“I thought angels were supposed to be goody-two-shoes and shit,”
“Well, I’m the exception to that rule,”
Scavenger hunt
It’s persons A’s birthday and their friends decided to do a scavenger hunt across town.
Too bad they miscalculated how much there is to plan and especially when to start. So they only have one shot at this and time is running out. There is only one person both smart and organised enough to plan everything in time:
Person B, who has been A’s rival since they met. Whom they constantly fight with about trivial things and never seem to agree!
Luckily for them, after a bit of begging and the promise of free drinks and food they agree to do so.
They just hope that A will take it just as well…
.
..
…
Wait …
How did B know so much about A? Their favourite café? Their pizza order? Their favourite spot in the park?
A
“I hate you so much here is the stupidly disgusting coffee you always get!” And “Fuck you and your cute cat, whom I’m the one only able to give belly rubs to besides you” And “Shut up! don’t you have a mom to give white tulips to, cause that were the flowers your dad gave her on their first date?“
kind of ship just hits different.
Rival: Protagonist?! Heyyyy…
Protagonist: Rival?! Long time no see..
Rival: yeah..haha ..
Protagonist: Youuuu….studied Chemistry, right?
Rival: Uhh yeah..? How did you-
Protagonist: Speaking about Chemistry: Why did you hate me back then?
Only one bed ?!??! - or not ..
A is told before arrival that they have to share not only a room but also a bed with the worst person they’ve ever had the displeasure of having met and even to work with: B.
Torn between anger and anxiousness they await the evening, hoping to get this over with as soon as possible.
Luckily, B meets an old friend C in the dinner hall and promptly decides to sleep in their room instead! That’s amazing news! Isn’t it?
Then why was the thought of B hating them so much they’d jump ship at the first instance so…. Disturbing? Why can’t A stop thinking about what B and C might be doing? Why can’t they stop thinking of the happiness and relief in Bs eyes, the moment they saw C and how they have never looked at A in any way NEAR that ?
It’s not like THEY care about B… B is just not allowed to dislike A !!
Yeah. That’s it … right?
Same circle
The hero has had a couple days off now, both their day AND night job is they finally felt save to meet their friends friend! They have heard so much about them now, they just know they’ll all be a happy family in no time. But when the other friend arrives … well let’s just say, the hero has to unpack their acting skills once more.
Later they excuse themselves to get another drink:
Hero, hissing: What the hell are you doing here ? Have you stooped so low you’re playing my friends now!?
Villain, hissing back just as venomous: YOUR friends?!? Excuse you? They are MY friends?! And how do I know YOU’RE not the one PLAYING ME?!
Hero, flabbergasted: WHAT?! Why would I risk the life these wonderful friends just to get back on YOU of all people?!
Villain: WHY THE HELL SHOULD I?!
Both stare at each other in shock, realisation hitting them equally hard: either one of them has to go right now and never talk to their friends ever again OR they have to play pretend and get along, only hating each other in secret.
Continuation: they constantly try to out do each other as the groups best friend. “I brought homemade muffins to the picnic!” “Oh? Well and I organised the picnic in the first place, villain!”
Bonus: the friends figured out beforehand of each of their identity and set them up to both have a bigger family and save the town. And when their fight for the group started they placed bets and are popcorn watching them being “secretive”
Seeker, Chaser, Keeper by VivacissimoVoce
Harry/Draco (2013, Mature, 59k)
Rumor has it that a wealthy investor is starting up a brand new professional Quidditch team and he’s looking for players. Harry and Draco both want to make the team, but there can be only one Seeker. Will competing for the position bring them closer or drive them further apart?
Excerpt:
“Being with you is like joining an exclusive club. It’s up to me to decide whether I want to pay the membership fee.“
"But I can’t promise I’m worth the membership fee,” Draco said seriously.
"I think you are,” Harry shrugged. “You don’t seem to realize all of your own amenities.”
This is easily one of my top favorite Quidditch fics and I’ve reread it many times by now. I love it so much, and not only because of the genius title. The not-so-slow burn is fantastic and their witty and gentle chemistry is a delight to read, lots of flirting and banter as competition and attraction get intertwined and give us the best of both worlds. The Quidditch scenes are quite fascinating, so lively, detailed, creative and full of adrenaline. I love how the story really focus on flying and explores Harry and Draco being free, brave and competent in their element. It’s only fitting that their romance would develop alongside their professional routine. Despite covering both the 8th year and the immediate post-Hogwarts period, this fic flew by and kept my attention at all times, thanks to a lovely ensemble and character development. The alternate POVs work really well for the specific dynamics the author builds here - they’re rivals, friends, lovers and colleagues all at once, and despite the initial tiny bit of angst, it feels organic and refreshing in a way I haven’t seen in other fics. There’s something sweet and almost innocent about how they fall in love. Kudos to the deliciously gentle yearning and the way they decide to just embrace the pull; I love how smitten and vulnerable they are around each other another feel-good must read!
some enemies to lovers kiss prompts
this one was requested to me… it was a little harder since enemies to lovers kisses are a little more plot specific but i did try! feel free to use <3
enemies to lovers post here.
- “listen, let’s just forget about it.” “you mean forget about when we k—” “STOP.”
- that split second before they kiss and they mentally ask themselves if this is about to happen but whoops their brain checked out hours ago and they’re about to kiss the person they hate more than anything
- they haven’t talked about the first kiss they had— it was a small mistake, won’t happen again, the heat of the moment caught up to them and they still hate each other— but then suddenly there’s this moment for whatever [plot] reason and they’re gravitating towards one another and suddenly their lips are slipping over each others’
- they’re teasing each other when one character goes “then kiss me” and is surprised that the other character actually does it
- they’re playing a competitive game, whether it be a sport or for gym class or whatever, and while hiding, the sexual tension rises n boom they’re kissing
- blurted confessions before the kiss
- “yeah and it’s my fault for liking someone who—” cut off by a kiss
- they’re alone in a room together in general because whew this makes for some incredible sexual tension
- alternatively, they’re in a room full of people and somehow only register each other’s presence… one character sneaks away and the other follows and after a little banter they kiss in seclusion
- “oh God.” “[name]…” “we just— kissed, oh God. i’m gonna be sick.”
- “did you just…” “kiss my mortal enemy?… i think yes.”
- “what are you thinking?” “i’m thinking i want to ask to kiss you. and i’m thinking i just did.”
- ARGUING!!!!! then a heated “kiss me.” and suddenly their hands are all over each other
- ALMOST KISSESSSSS!! its #that moment when they both know it’s about to happen, and Godthey don’t even care— but then they hear footsteps, or hear someone call them, or the phone buzzes, and the moment is gone like it never existed
- “i… your lips.” “[unintelligible noises].”
- that specific moment when they’re both stunned at the kiss, not only stunned that they let it happen but stunned that they don’t regret it at all
- the aftermath. you as a writer need to decide if they’re going to acknowledge that it happened or going to pretend it didn’t and create more drama!!
tips
it doesn’t really matter the kiss as long as it shows not only their past and pent up anger but pent up sexual tension. it shouldn’t be something they’ve been thinking of outwardly, but something they’ve been actively trying not to think about, something they’ve been trying dearly to avoid. after all, they hate each other. so that moment when they first kiss should really solidify that “oh, i’m totally screwed” thought because they realize that the overwhelming urge to kiss their enemy didn’t just “come over” them, it was there all along.
most of all just have fun! silly kiss scenes or ones that give us second hand embarrassment are very very fun and unique. make it specific to your characters, to heighten their relationship as well!
