“You really thought you could get away with this?”

The hero towered over the villain, strong and composed even as their hands shook with the pain of the betrayal. Their eyes shone not with anger but with pity, disappointment, and the force of it hit the villain like a brick to the chest. They wished the hero would cry and rage and scream, wished they would just explodewith anger at what the villain had done, but the hero only stood there, tall and silent and so very, very disappointed.

“No,” the villain whispered, head bowed, eyes locked on the ground, cheeks flushed with shame.

“But I didn’t see another choice.”

A cruel hug

“Do you understand now? “

The villain hadn’t noticed how hard they were breathing until it was the only thing left to be heard. How desperate their voice sounded in their last plea of kinship. But

It does’t matter what happens afterwards. They just needed the hero to understand. They quickly tried to wipe away the tears running down their cheeks but it had been a futile gesture long ago.

They didn’t know when the hero had lowered their weapon but suddenly it hit the ground with a bang and the hero was closing the distance in a couple of struts.

Usually kind eyes, full of hope and determination, were now full of sorrow and compassion, holding theirs like a prisoner; seemingly taking in every little thing they possibly could. Their face. Their entire body. Their past, they just poured out all over the floor. Their entire future, yet to be determined. And most of all: Them. The villain. In every possible way. In their entirety.

They have never felt this naked. They have never felt this save. They didn’t believe anyone ever did.

A shaking hand was held next to their cheek. Slowly they cupped their face and even slower, a thumb wiped away the last tear.

“I am. So. Sorry. This happened to you.” How could a voice be so full of sorrow when it wasn’t their own to carry ?

“It should’ve never happened. To anyone. And certainly not when you were -. I am truly sorry. “

And then the hero came impossibly closer and wrapped their arms around them.

The villain could neither comprehend the grief, for their past self, that never got this confirmation of cruelty, flooding them ….nor the sudden, overwhelming relief of being understood. Of finally being seen. It was so much. So so much and much more than they had ever hoped for.

Sure they had been trying to get the hero see their side; to make them understand for so long …but it had gotten to be more of a routine.

The villain would start executing their plan; the hero would come in trying to stop them, when plan was juuuust about to work and thus they tried to quickly explain everything but the hero didn’t take it serious at all, thinking they’ve gone insane; shaking their head at them like you would at a silly little kid not getting why they can’t visit their mother anymore; and then? Then they would fight.

Sure they had always kept on trying to explain everything, but both could see how defeated it had been; as if every word had been said by a tired museum guide. They had given up on the hero understanding a thing about them. But now ? Now they finally understood.

With a barley noticeable jump, the villain wrapped themselve around the hero tightly, pulling them even closer into the hug. Their heads buried into each other’s neck, arms almost hurting from hugging the other so tightly.

Neither could let go. Neither could tell how long they stood there like this. Only that at some point the hero slowly loosened their gripped, the villain mirroring them. The hero stroked a couple times over their arms and looking up, the villain could finally see their like-wisely tear-streaked face. With a small smile the hero repeated: “I am sorry.”

This time when they went into a hug, they cupped the villains face with their right hand and the villain leaned into the touch without any hesitation. The other hand was now slowly rubbing circle onto their back and the world has truly shrunken down to the small square the villain and theirherooccupied.

“I need you to know something.”, the hero finally croaked out. A small smile grazed the villains face. Unwillingly. But not unwelcome. After all, the hero had always needed the last word.

“Of course.”, they breathed.

“I am not hugging you.”

The villain huffed at this ridiculousness and rolled their eyes playfully but not hiding the fondness for once. Not that the hero could see it.

“As if I’d be the one hugging you. Never.”

A small chuckle. The hug tightened for a second.

“You don’t understand. I’m not hugging you.” This time, the villain could hear the seriousness in their voice. The strain.

What.Brows began to furrow. Their entire body stopped.

“I am hugging the you, who had to go through it all. The you, who experienced all those atrocities. Those cruelties. But I’m not hugging you.”

Confused the villain tried to lean back again but before they even noticed, the hands that had just a moment ago stroked their face and rubbed circle into their back, were now binding theirs behind their back. The loud *click* echoed through the room. Through their mind.

They were handcuffed.

The hero’s head still laid in the crook of their neck. And with their hands holding the villains behind their back, it still felt like hug. A cruel one…but a hug nonetheless.

“Iam sorry for all the cruelties that were done to you”, the hero whispered into their ear.

How can a voice carry so much sorrow and compassion,

“But it doesn’t justify all the cruelties you’ve done upon others.”

while delivering such a cold message ?

And the villain realised the reason why they had looked so pained. It hadn’t been for compassion. Not entirely. But because the hero had finally understood them. Truly understood. And yet they couldn’t do anything about to.

Because by then, they had already made up their mind. About the villain. Their so called atrocities. About who deserves mercy. About it all.

Thus it hadn’t mattered. Not even in the slightest. It had just made it so much worse. For the both of them.

Understanding means truly seeing. And truly seeing means mercy.

At least that’s way the villain had always told themselves. But not to the hero. No. Mercy had always meant, that those who aren’t an immediate threat, could get a fair trial. That death, wouldn’t await them. For now at least. So no. Mercy had never meant what they thought it did.

No reluctant acceptance.

No truce.

No working together.

No.

The villain hadn’t realised, how far ahead they had already planned; how they had already mentally integrated the hero into their little family.

Into their future.

Into their life.

“I am sorry.”

,the hero breathed one last time. This time, the villain could finally hear what they truly said.

I am sorry this happened to you. I am sorry you had to go through this alone. I am sorry that you felt compelled to make these plans and even try and executed them. That they had to stop them every time. That they never truly tried to understand before. That now that they did, they couldn’t do anything about it. That it was all too late. That they were now the one to feel compelled to follow through with their plan. That they had to betray them. One. Last. Time.

“I am too.”

Thrown out

Hero: I Swore to never go back there.

Villain: Funny way to say “I was rejected and thrown out and I’m terrified history will repeat itself.“

Hero, bitterly: Yeah well… As you very well know, I am a writer at heart .. I at least try to phrase things a little interestingly.

Hero 2: You … You we’re thrown out? But- you never ?- I thought, you? What?

In debt

Hero 2: I don’t know how we can overcome this threat. And I’m not sure we’ll find a solution in ti-

Villain:*storming in and looking sternly at Hero 1*

Villain: I’m NOT doing this for you. Got it?

Hero 1:* suppressing a grin* Of course not.

Villain: I just owe you. For last time.

Hero 1: I know.

Villain: And I don’t like being in debt.

Hero 1: Who does?

Villain: And when this is over we never have to ever talk to one another again.

Hero 1: Cause there wouldn’t be the need to do Right.

Hero 1/Villian: *staring at each other in silent agreement hoping to find regret in the others eye*

Hero 2: Uhmmm what ? What debt? What help? When did all of this even happen ?

Same circle

The hero has had a couple days off now, both their day AND night job is they finally felt save to meet their friends friend! They have heard so much about them now, they just know they’ll all be a happy family in no time. But when the other friend arrives … well let’s just say, the hero has to unpack their acting skills once more.

Later they excuse themselves to get another drink:

Hero, hissing: What the hell are you doing here ? Have you stooped so low you’re playing my friends now!?

Villain, hissing back just as venomous: YOUR friends?!? Excuse you? They are MY friends?! And how do I know YOU’RE not the one PLAYING ME?!

Hero, flabbergasted: WHAT?! Why would I risk the life these wonderful friends just to get back on YOU of all people?!

Villain: WHY THE HELL SHOULD I?!

Both stare at each other in shock, realisation hitting them equally hard: either one of them has to go right now and never talk to their friends ever again OR they have to play pretend and get along, only hating each other in secret.

Continuation: they constantly try to out do each other as the groups best friend. “I brought homemade muffins to the picnic!” “Oh? Well and I organised the picnic in the first place, villain!”

Bonus: the friends figured out beforehand of each of their identity and set them up to both have a bigger family and save the town. And when their fight for the group started they placed bets and are popcorn watching them being “secretive”

Sidekick: They’re gonna come.

Villain: Not for you.

Sidekick: No. Not for me. But they’ll come for you.

When they first met, neither of them knew who the other one was. After all, it was supposed to be a random one-night stand, nothing more.

Their second meeting was on the battlefield. And that’s when the Chosen One and the Evil Overlord realized how they slept together the night prior to the attack.

Writing Prompt #1959

“I’m done playing nice, little heroes.” The villain straightened his back, and wiped the blood from his lip. “So this is your final warning; turn around, go home, and let me finish my business.”

I hope you enjoy!

“Get back in bed.” [Villain] ordered them.

[Hero] gritted their teeth as anger flashed red hot in their body, “screw you.”

“You won’t help anyone like this.” [Villain]’s scowl deepened, “You’ll get yourself and everyone else killed. Theirs selfless, then there’s just plain stupid.”

“I’m not in the mood for your condescension.” [Hero] snarled, “get out of my way.”

“You think [Super Villain] will get out of your way?” [Villain] slipped into a fighting stance.

“No. That's why I’m going to kick their ass, right after I kick yours.” [Hero] spat. Enraged, they charge headfirst into [Villain].

A few minutes later, their unconscious body was hooked back up to their IVs.

I hope you enjoy!

“So this is your rebellious faze, is it?” [Villain] huffed as they landed on the roof next to [Hero].

“Piss off.” they spat at their older sibling.

“I will once you stop being a brat.” [Villain] countered.

“Look [Villain], unlike you and our parents, I’m not content at profiting off the exploitation of others. I want to make a real difference in the world!”

“So this is your rebellious faze.” [Villain] rolled their eyes, “whatever, you’ll see.”

“See how much a huge asshole you are?”

“You’ll see how huge of assholes your new ‘friends’ are.”

“You can’t adopt a child!” [Hero] sputtered.

“Why the hell not?” [Villain] frowned, offended.

“You’re a villain!”

“So? I'm not hurting them, nor am I judging their worth and giving or withholding affection based on their power. I’m caring for them like any good parent should. I think that makes me better than most heroes in that regard.” [Villain] defended themself as [Child] hugged their leg tighter.

“What’s that supposed to mean?!”

“Ask [Super Hero].”

Yummy yummy in my tummy tummy! You know I love croissants! I hope you enjoy!

“Do you have any idea what [Super Villain] would have done to you?!” [Villain] finally snapped.

“No! But I know exactly what they’re planning to do to those innocent people!” [Hero] yelled back, their grip as tight as the iron bars they were trapped behind.

“And I guarantee you your fate would have been a thousand times worse!” “I don’t care!”

“I do!” [Villain] shouted, their voice echoing around them as the room fell into sudden silence.

[Hero] searched their face, disbelieving, as the silence stretched on.

I hope you enjoy some fluff!

Their plan was working perfectly. A few doey-eyed pleas and some sad story about their nightmare and [Hero] and [Villain] were in the palm of their hand.

[Child] very gently pried themself out of [Hero]’s hold as the two capes snoozed. [Hero], fast asleep, seemed to notice the sudden lack of [Child] and blindly groped for them, only for their arms to wrap themselves around [Villain]. [Heor] pulled [Villain] in close, a happy hum vibrating in [Villain]’s unconscious chest.

Yes, the plan was working absolutely perfectly.

I don’t think I’ve written any in the past, but I can now! I hope you enjoy!

“Well, this is awkward,” [Villain] huffed as they sat down, their soul mark’s glow illuminating the darkened warehouse.

[Hero] frowned at their own soul mark as well, its traitorous flame burning oh so brightly after its brush with its other half.

“So, what do we do?” [Hero] sighed. They didn’t want their other half to be [Villain], and they didn’t know what it said about them that it was. But their soul marks glow burned away any attempt at rebuttal.

“Go on a date, I guess?” [Villain] replied.

“What kind of food do you like?” [Hero] asked as they sat next to [Villain].

“I’m not picky, so it’s your choice.”

[Hero] really didn’t want their soulmate to be [Villain]. But they would eventually.

I hope you enjoy!

“Why does this always seem to happen?” [Hero] smiled sadly at [Villain] from across the divide. Never together, always from across the divide.

“I suppose it’s just fate,” [Villain] replied.

“I don’t believe in that,” [Hero] spoke, “I don’t believe that’s true.”

“Then why does it always end like this?”

“Because…” [Hero] trailed off, “…because I just want what’s best for you.”

“And who are you to decide that?”

“Your friend.”

“If you were really my friend, you’d be next to me,” [Villain] challenged them from across the divide, but [Hero] shook their head.

CW:A bit of NSFW (takes place in a strip club and theres a ‘dancer’, nothing sexual in nature actaully happenshowever)

“[Boss] are we sure this was a good idea? [Villain] isn’t exactly known for being level-headed at the best of times.” the gangster glanced at their boss.

[Boss] huffed a laugh as they sipped their matinee as the dancer waltzed into the private room.

“[Villain]s just some low life that thinks they can make it in the big leagues. If they try anything, they’ll be dead in an instant.”

The dancer swung their leg and slammed it down next to [Boss]’s thigh, the stiletto puncturing the soft leather as they leaned down over [Boss].

[Boss] scowled and opened their mouth to tell the person off, but as soon as they saw the dancer’s face, their blood ran cold.

“Awww,” [Villain] frowned, “I didn’t know you thought about me like that. Guess you’ll just have to make it up to me for being so rude.” [Villain] smiled as they slowly unsheathed the knife on their thigh.

I don’t really do continuations anymore, but please enjoy this prompt similar to A Fine Line @wolfeyedwitch!

“Are you trying to hospitalize them?” [Hero] narrowed their eyes at [Teammate], who froze mid-swing. Their head snapped around, and their eyes connected with [Hero]’s.

“I thought you were in a meeting with [Leader].”

“I was. It’s done now. Are you trying to hospitalize them?” [Hero] continued to stare.

“It’s training," [Teamate] glanced back at a panting and bloody [Villain], "I’m teaching them how to fight.”

“That’s surprising,” [Hero] drawled out, “Because I distinctly remember multiple times when [Villain] knocked you out mid-mission before they joined our team. They’re obviously better than you, yet you’re asserting you’re teaching them?”

[Teammate] gritted their teeth, hot anger flashing through them as they clenched their fists.

“I’m teaching them to fight honorably.”

“That’s why you’re beating them bloodied when they’re on the floor, not fighting back?”

[Teammate] opened their mouth once more, but [Hero] silenced them with a hand.

“A rhetorical question, get out of my sight.”

[Villain] spat out a glob of crimson blood, inching back from a slowly advancing [Hero].

“You don’t want to do this,” they snarled, desperately trying to hide their desperation, “murder is a line you can’t uncross. If you kill me, you’ll be just like me.”

“I’m very well aware of that,” [Hero] continued to stalk towards them. “And your quite right. Murder is a line you can’t uncross. A line I crossed so long ago.” [Hero] smiled sadly.

“I am no better than you, so what’s one more corpse to add to the pile?”

“And what’s your power supposed to be?” [Villain] looked down their nose at them.

“A can-do attitude and a gun.”

“Do you really think a gun is enough to stop me?”

“That’s where the can-do attitude comes in.”

I hope you enjoy!

“I just…” [Villain] trailed off as they averted their gaze from [Hero], the wind swooping from above the bridge they were hiding under.

“I don’t want to ruin your life over this. Over me.”

“My love,” [Hero] cupped their face, pulling [Villain]’s gaze to their shining hero once more.

“Before I met you, my life was just an endless series of challenges and fights for other people. You showed me how to live for myself. If you’re worried about ruining my life, know that you are the person who gave me a life worth ruining.”

[Hero] pulled [Villain] into their arms, and they melted into each other as the world turned around them.

I don’t do continuations anymore, but heres a prompt similar to prompt #308! I hope you enjoy!

“Have you ever been tortured before?“ [Villain] asked. It was the line they always opened with. the word torture was heavy with implications, the word before dripping with intent.

It was a great way to start their relatively benign interrogations, lubricating the wheels of their subject’s minds with fear.

It was a question they had always received a no to.

Until today.

"Yes.” [Teen] answered evenly, their haunting eyes fixing [Villain] to the ground.

“What?” [Villain] breathed.

“I have,” they replied again, their voice as still and dead as their eyes.

[Villain] swallowed hard, feeling the wheels in their own mind spinning uncontrollably.

Heyo! I don’t do continuations anymore, however, I’ve decided instead of just telling people that ask that I don’t do continuations anymore, that I’d write a prompt in a similar vein to the requested prompt to be continued (if that makes sense). Either way, please enjoy!

“I’m fine!" [Hero] insisted as they tried to get up.

”[Hero] I heard your ribs crack when you hit the ground, you need to stay down.“ [Villain] insisted as they delicately took [Hero] by the shoulder, keeping them pinned as gently as possible.

"So you can stab me easier? No thanks.” [Hero] struggled, but every twitch shot lightning through their chest, paralyzing their lungs.

“You’re going to kill yourself like that.” [Villain] gritted their teeth as they forced them back down.

“Better than you killing me!” [Hero] growled right back.
