Doctor Who fanfic readers and writers of Tumblr, please lend me your knowledge.
I’m in search of a DW fic I read maybe 2 or 3 years back, I believe on Archive of Our Own, but lost the link to and can’t remember the title or author. I really liked it and was hoping to find and reread. Hoping someone else may remember it.
What I know:
-Doctor/River
-The Doctor takes River to an alien planet around the time of a special yearly festival.
-A big part of the festival is releasing these paper lanterns/candles high into the atmosphere while thinking about someone.
-The lanterns are supposed to come back down in the presence of that person.
-Towards the end River finds out the Doctor has been coming back for centuries of this festival and sending them, then is completely shocked to find out they’re all for her as hundreds (some really old and worn) rain down around her.

I was thinking about this post about the one rad-as-hell search engine designed to find weird old-web shit, and I wanted to add to that sentiment in its own post that DuckDuckGo is also really good for that too.
Like, it’s less specialized for it for sure, but also I have noticed in my use of it that; while it doesn’t pick up the “big names” as readily as Mr. Google’s Wild Panopticon, it is really good at showing me much smaller, more oddball sites, with a lot of neat stuff I never woulda found.
So yeah, if you’re looking for search results off the beaten path, DuckDuckGo’s worth a try for that too, it’s not justfor privacy!

The missing girl part 34 -
Anna had lost all sense of time and direction, like under a spell she had followed blindly the voice of her missing sister. She kept calling out for Hannah and asking where she was ? But Anna would never get a direct answer but just hear whispers here and there calling out to her.
The woods were dark and the cold had reached her bones. It got harder and harder to concentrate on the whispers. She greeted her teeth when the air began to fill with a low metallic hum.
Saoirse had struggled his way through the woods, madly searching for Anna. He hadn’t stopped to catch his breath or anything when behind some trees he could finally make out her shape.
He called for her as loud as he could but Anna gave no reaction.

This character is a combination of 扌 hand and 罙 an element that initially was a combination of 穴 hole, 又 hand, and 火 fire. 罙 referred to the idea of a hand reaching into a hole, and also carries a connotation of “deep.” With 扌, this gives 探 a meaning of “groping about” for something, leading to the meanings of “search” and “probe.”
