Nímiel - the Sindar from the Falas

Here is a dress I have designed and sewn as part of the Tolkien read-along last year. It is worn on top of my medieval dress. This wig is the Le Tigre in spanish brown from Arda Wigs and the elf ears are from Epic Effect.

Ost-in-Edhil(S.A.750–1697, existed for c. 947 years), “Fortress of the Elves” in Sindarin, was the capital city of Eregion, a kingdom of NoldorandSindarinEriador. It lay where the rivers SirannonandGlanduinmet.

History

Ost-in-Edhil was founded by GaladrielandCeleborn, before the time they ruled Lothlórien. The Elves began trading with the DwarvesofKhazad-dûm and built a large road to connect the city with the West-gate of the Dwarven kingdom. The Elves of Eregion also traded with the MenofNúmenor. After the Númenóreans founded the city of Tharbad to the south of Ost-in-Edhil, Galadriel is recorded meeting with Aldarion before he took up the Sceptre.

In time the Gwaith-i-Mírdain, a brotherhood of Elven craftsmen, was founded. They were led by Celebrimbor, the greatest smith since Fëanor. Sometime after S.A.1350 Galadriel left for Lórien and Celebrimbor became Lord of Ost-in-Edhil.

In 1200 a mysterious craftsman named Annatar came to the city, offering his considerable talents. For 400 years they learned from him and together forged many Rings of Power. Annatar was, in truth, Sauron, who returned to Mordor to forge the One Ring. The Dark Lord returned with an army of Orcs and began the War of the Elves and Sauron, in which Celebrimbor was slain and Ost-in-Edhil was completely destroyed.

Centuries later the Fellowship of the Ring encountered the ruins of Ost-in-Edhil shortly before reaching Moria.

“I will be cautious,” Finrod said, his blue eyes snapping wider as he took Beren’s worry in, and changed it to something stronger inside himself. “Believe me, I do not wish to fail any more than Maedhros does. I have you to think of, too.”

While everyone else is melting over Maedros, I’m over here thinking about the whole Beren-Lúthien-Finrod dynamic from @allthatglittersisnotgoldrush T_T <333 Their interactions are my lembas and miruvor, with a yummy athelas dip!

I present to you another oneshot AU, this time featuring the Kidnap Owls! Here we have:

1. Elrond and Elros (aka Plomplets)
2. Maedros and Maglor
3. Maglor brooding the plomplets
4. Maedros preening Elrond
5. Maedros protecting the plomplets from a crow-spy

I was especially inspired after watching a video about tawny owl mum Luna and her foster chicks (aptly named Dawn and Dusk)! You can watch the first part of their story here if you feel like seeing some cute balls of floof XDDD

I was finally inspired to do a kidnap fam painting! I went for monochrome this time because I didn’t have enough energy for full colour loll Plus I really like this old, Victorian-like portrait style!

As for the poem, I’ve recently had to read Hilda Doolittle’s poetry for school, and I was rather inspired to give another try at poems! This one is meant to be Maedros’ contemplation as he watches his Blobrond XDDD

She moves like a silver blade, come to cut him free.

Heyo! Where have I been, you wonder? Whelp I recently read Assassin’s Apprentice and have been drawing lots of fanart for it! But then @allthatglittersisnotgoldrush updated Pharmakos recently, and I thought to myself, why not draw my favourite Silmarillion character? :DDD

Oh and I drew Maedros too XDD Since Lúthien’s panel is through his pov, I exaggerated her a bit to make her look more otherworldly, like her hair flying behind her and all!

AAAAAAHHH OH MY GOSHHHH THIS IS GORGEOUS!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ No worries about the reference, it’s totally okay!!! XDDD Ahh my goodness, this is so beautiful, I love it so much!! ❤️❤️❤️ The colours are so vibrant, and the red lighting is super cool, and the sword!! Looks awesome!! I always have a hard time drawing swords hahaa so I’m always in awe of others’ sword work XDDD

And Elrond’s sweet round face!!! The way he fits so snugly against Maedros is so cute!! And Maedros’ grim expression, and the kinstugi scars!! Sorry, all I can do is just yell about all the things I love about this ^^;;;;; I can’t help it loll! And I see that they wear the same arm band aaaaahh T_T

Sindarin Portraits pt4: Saeros, Eöl, Oropher, and Thranduil.

First time drawing Saeros! He gets the leafy crown since he’s part of Thingol’s court; I imagine Turin rips some of it out of his hair when they have that scene, so um, yeah ^^;;

I also updated Oropher’s design a bit! I drew his initial design for Doriath Week 2020, and I felt that it was a bit rushed, so I wanted to take my time with this one. I’m much happier with it now! :D

And that’s all the portraits I have so far for the Sindar! I think I missed a few, alongside Annael, but I feel like I’ll run out of juice if I keep drawing more ^^;; So I’ll take a little break now, and we’ll see if I get to any more design updates XDDD

Sindarin Portraits pt3: Elmo, Galadhon, Nellas, and Nimloth.

Some more obscure-ish characters for my Sindarin portrait project! When I first designed Elmo, I decided to make him a mix between Thingol and Olwë, so his clothes are a blend of Sindar and Teleri fashion. This is also my first time drawing Nellas; since she lives out in the forest, I made her robes green (rather like Mablung and Beleg’s).

I’m still on my Elden Ring adrenaline, so here’s Maedros and Elrond again from my AU! I wanted to go for a Soulsborne-y atmosphere to go with the game’s opening cinematic (and the trailers too, those are beautiful). Plus this is my first time drawing an arm at that angle, and I’m so excited with how it turned out! :DDD

Without spoiling too much story-wise (because I’m also kinda embarrassed to share my self-indulgent crossovers loll), this is from a little scene where the twins break Maedros and Maglor out of captivity in Leyndell’s dungeons. They succeed, but now the four of them have to escape the capital’s subterranean levels XDDD

I took inspiration from Japanese kinstugi for Maedros’ scars, though I’m still working on how he got it. Likely something magic-related loll I’ll think of something! Also, I had some trouble with the golden ornaments on his sword, but I’m satisfied with it for now.

OOOOOOOOHHHHH ELDEN RING

Whelp I’ve gone an done it again folks! Allow me to present my Elden Ring kidnap fam AU! The idea here is that the Fëanorians and twins are NPCs, with their backstories tied into the game’s lore. The Fëanorians will appear as major bosses, but the player has the option to redeem them, and they’ll become the player’s allies.

I kinda got carried away with this and came up with different quests involving the fam loll XDDD Here are the basics: the twins are cursed, and the Fëanorians have been trying to cure them since the start of the Shattering. In order to make them your allies, you have to follow the quests that will save the twins. There’s good and bad options the player can take. Angst babyyy!

Design notes are below!

Maedros’ design is essentially a revamped version of his bodyguard!AU armour (and I personally like this version better loll). I tried to keep it looking Soulsborne boss-ish, but I imagine this is Maedros in his prime, when his armour is still quite shiny and his cloak intact.

Likewise with Maglor – I turned him into a sorcerer who uses music, so I took inspiration from Rennala and the students of Raya Lucaria for his clothing. I’m also really happy with how his harp turned out! :D

As for the twins, there’s a painting in the game’s opening cinematic that features one of the demigods (who I won’t spoil). If you watch the cinematic, I’m sure you’ll find out which painting I took inspiration from XDD I wanted to give their design a pearlescent quality, with iridescent fairy wings or bird feathers in their hair. They’re also quite tiny compared to the Feanorians, and that was done on purpose since Soulsborne bosses are always so darn huge lmaooo

I just adore the kidnap fam so I was naturally drawn to Bedtime Reading - so i decided to do this one using my character designs. Elrond is on the left in red, Elros on the right in blue with his weird haircut. 

I had so much fun doing this and I feel like I learned so much about lighting and composition! I normally don’t play too much with light sources because i’m lazy so this was a fun challenge :D

OHHHH THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!!!! Look at the warm fuzzy atmosphere and lighting!!! And the bedtime scene!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Elrond and Elros are all snuggled in, I see XDDD And quite happy to use Maedros as a pillow! Maedros, on the other hand, looks like he’s trying not to smile hahaa And Maglor too has such a peaceful look on his face! Awwww :DDD

I love the lighting and colours too! Especially the effect on Maedros’ hair, and the green highlights on Maglor’s :D It’s all so lovely and cozy!! Thank you so much for your entry, you did a fantastic job!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Sindarin Portraits pt2: Celeborn, Galathil, Mablung, and Beleg.

Here’s my chance to give Celeborn and Galathil some attention! There’s nothing much special about their designs other than being regular Doriath fashion XDD And since they’re close kin to Thingol, they have flower crowns!

Beleg and Mablung have similar colours due to being captains of Doriath. I neglected to include Mablung’s small braids and feather ornaments; if I ever draw him again, I’ll be sure to include those loll

Sindarin Portraits pt1: Thingol, Melian, Lúthien, and Daeron.

I thought I’d try revamping my old character design portraits for the Silmarillion! And also practice some anatomy XDDD You can find some of the original portraits here. I don’t know how many other Elves I’ll get to (like the Noldor, Vanyar, etc); for now I’m just focusing on the Sindar, so we’ll see!

Some notes: my design headcanon is that Melian started the tradition of having flower crowns for Sindarin royalty. The important/prominent figures of Doriath’s court wear leaf crowns and such.

Sindarin jewellery is generally made up of clay beads and carved wood. Lúthien’s necklace is the Ring of Barahir, which I headcanon Beren gives to her as her betrothal ring!

Since I feel kinda bad about covering up my anatomy practice with clothes, I’ve decided to include some of the uncoloured sketches in case y’all are interested XDDD For this batch, y’all get Thingol!
