Compared to Disney’s semi-realistic approach, Sony Animation’s entire personality as a company is their snappy, cartoon-like animation; their rigs are complex and advanced, made with exaggerated deformations in mind.
On top of the poses achievable by their specialized rigs, animators will sculpt the characters by modifying the mesh itself so as to achieve the strongest, most efficient poses possible, reminiscent of classic 2D animation.
Huh, so that’s why they never bend the gold frame of Griffin’s glasses

Before co-director Mike Rianda announced a special “The Mitchells vs. the Machines” blu-ray home video release at CTN Expo, executive producer Phil Lord and co-director Jeff Rowe attended the Animation is Film Festival premiere. The two had very different reasons they related to the Mitchell family
“The Mitchells vs. the Machines” special edition, featuring deleted scenes, the extended Katie Mitchell cut, and a behind-the-scenes short about filmmaking, comes out on Dec. 14, 2021. The disc or digital download also includes instructions on making your very own Katie-face cupcakes.
