These are some headcanons of mine about how Haikyuu peeps would comfort you
Asahi is a big hugger. You feel sad? Hugs all around. They are also immaculate. 10/10 would hug again
Sugawara like aggressively loves you. You don’t get the sweet little “it’ll be okay” no. You get the “you are a bad bitch. Mkay?”
Kuroo is a fucking impeccable listener. He’ll never tell you what you should and shouldn’t be doing, he listens and just lets you express
Bokuto is also a big hugger, but like BIG HUGGER. That man will bear hug the tears out of your body and will not let go until you at least smile
Daichi gives the best advice, he literally just knows everything. He never judges you and generally just puts things straight like “okay look this is what needs to happen”
Atsumu’s specialty is making you laugh. He isn’t good with words but he never fails to make you smile
Osamu, on the other hand, is quite gentle. His tone, demeanor, literally everything softens when you’re upset. It’s just generally calm and he gives you the energy you need to just breathe
Oikawa plans straight up murder. Someone hurt you? Don’t worry babe, Oikawa is planning it and pitching it to Iwaizumi later
Akaashi lets you lay with your head on his thighs and plays with your hair because he knows it usually calms you down. His advice is also top-notch
I just KNOW Nishinoya’s exact quote would be so casual “whatcha’ sad about?” I can hear it in his voice. He buys you sweets and lets you vent out your problems. It’s most likely that afterwards he shows you a trick he’s working on, even more likely he fails (on purpose to make you smile)
Tsukishima is literally so fucking blunt it’s incredible. However, he has this whole protective vibe to him that he’ll never admit to. You basically bully each other back and forth until you feel better
At first it seems like Kenma doesn’t care, but, he actually forces you to play games with him because he wants to distract you from your sadness
Kiyoko makes you a whole ass care package. Snacks, face mask, lil post-its about how amazing you are. Literally the queen of comforting (and everything let’s be real)
Ukai thinks that you’re faking it at first but quickly realises that you’re not. He offers to beat someone’s ass if they hurt your feelings
Tendou is literally a serotonin refill station. Anything he does just makes you smile. He is quite prone to wholesome confusion like “I don’t get it why would someone say that to you???”
Saeko literally goes “hell no” and takes you on a day out because fuck being sad, all my homies hate being sad
Mad Dog has NO IDEA what to say to you. If someone has hurt you, the next day you find out that he got into a fight with them. He refuses to admit he did it for you
Iwaizumi being SUPER protective joins in on the fight. He keeps a really close eye on you for a while to make sure that you’re okay
Aone, also an incredible listener. By the end of your rant, he gives you little pat on the head
Tanaka contemplates threatening whoever/whatever caused your sadness, but settles for cuddles while watching your favourite movie

Karasuno-
Suga can actually be a pillow princess sometimes and likes to be treated like royalty. Basically worshipped.
Daichi loves working both hands at the same time, like choking you while fingering. He also goes mad for eye contact and forces you to look at him
Asahi is a gentle giant but is super strong so he kind of likes to ragdoll and manhandle you because it makes him feel quite dominant
Noya is super good with his fingers, like crazy good. He can make you come from fingering without putting in any effort, he’s at a god-tier level
Tanaka literally pounds you. Rails you into oblivion. You are left with aching hips and feeling like your insides are bruised.
Kageyama likes degrading. He’s also super good at it. All the Hinata-boke practice prepared him for it
Hinata always makes sure that you’re okay, checks to make sure you’re feeling good and all that jazz
Tsukishima also degrades you. And dear god he’s good at it. He usually mixes degradation with praises such as “What a good slut”
Yam’s likes it when you’re on top, purely because he gets to hold your hips and look at you
Other Teams-
Kuroo loves giving head, it’s literally one of his favourite things and sometimes gets so desperate to taste you that he can’t even make it 2 steps past the front door
Kenma loves to get sucked off while he’s streaming which has happened more than once. You sit under the desk while he keeps a poker face. The only thing that gives it away is when his cheeks start burning red and his concentration is altered
Lev likes to fuck you while standing, he wraps your legs around his waist and helps you bounce on him
Bokuto adores holding your hips and thighs during sex, any part of you that he can grip, he’s in love with. Especially when he really gets into pounding you and tries to go harder
Akaashi always smirks down at you when you give him head. He also makes you swallow when he finishes in your mouth
Oikawa can very easily be forced into submission, also pillow princess mentality.
Iwaizumi (lord give me strength) likes to spit on you or in your mouth, then forces you to look at him and swallow it
Ushijima really loves cockwarming. He sometimes just makes you do it while he studies for his classes and thrusts up suddenly whenever you move
I have a gut feeling that Tendō isn’t even bothered by periods. Like he has no hesitation to period sex and is genuinely surprised when you tell him that most others wouldn’t keep going
Semi loves it when you wear his shirt while he fucks you, just his shirt and that’s it, maybe thigh high socks here and there.
You’re always the first person that Suna calls whenever he gets drunk and wants to fuck. He also loves it when you leave hickeys on him so he can show them off
Atsumu has, more than once, fucked you in the locker room after practice because he likes the risk of getting caught
Osamu can very easily (if you are female) make you squirt. Like super easy doesn’t even break a sweat

Tanaka has a massive thing for girls in beanies or grunge outfits
Nishinoya is a natural at skateboarding but never told anyone. Not for any specific reason, he just hasn’t mentioned it
Sugawara has a sort of parental role on the team because he often has to look after his younger brother a lot and finds it hard to break out of the responsible older bro headspace
Asahi likes big girls. Period. He is also the best hugger out of everyone
Kuroo takes away Kenma’s games everyday for at least an hour to force him to study
Bokuto rambles and gets very flustered around people who he finds attractive, Akaashi often has to translate for him
Ushijima takes mental notes while watching people interact because he wants to be approachable
Oikawa has a lot of breakdowns at night, most about his sense of identity and where he’s going in the world
The only person who can break Iwaizumi out of his rage is actually Oikawa but Iwa will never admit it
Tendō hates mirrors, he’ll often pull faces at them to make himself feel better
Suga once dared Daichi to break a watermelon between his thighs, which he did with ease
Tsukki sometimes just sits in his room and thinks about future snarky remarks and comebacks
Hinata is convinced that if you eat a seed, a plant will grow inside your stomach
Aone is super duper comfortable to lay on
Kageyama is quite a good artist when he tries. He sits in class doodling eyes in his notebook, when he’s not sleeping that is
It is extremely easy to make Semi blush
Mad Dog is actually quite fond of Nishinoya but will never admit it
Suna is saving up videos of the twins fighting for a compilation that he will present on their birthdays
Yachi is scared of the dark so she has one of those cute lil unicorn lamps that you hit and it changes colour
Ukai yells at anyone in the store who starts badmouthing Karasuno
Terushima got drunk with the team someone pierced his tongue, they all still have no idea who did it
Daichi can play the guitar, his hands are large and skilled enough to reach basically any chord
Nishinoya fake-bangs literally the entire team if they bend over to pick up something
Yamaguchi is afraid of spiders and makes Tsukki get them
On the contrary, Akaashi owns a spider. A tarantula to be exact
Kenma adores Halloween, it’s his favourite holiday

“I have more than three favourite characters!” — okay, I get it, you have no set aesthetic and are unable to make any decisions in your real life. stop lying to yourself and choose.
“You’re not right though?” — yes I am, perceive yourself better. open your eyes. consult your charts.
“My favourite character isn’t here!!” — then you have self projection issues and that’s not on me, that’s on you! just say you over romanticize people in your head and then feel let down when they’re not exactly how you imagined them to be and go.
SIX OF CROWS HAIKYUU!! VERSION just slammed into my brain at top speed and refused to leave.
First version that came into my head was this: Kuroo as Kaz, scheming and always thinking several steps ahead and manipulating others, friends and enemies. Bokuto as Jesper, powerful and has a presence, loves the adrenaline of a fight (or facing a wall of three blockers, whatever), and loud and cheerful (most of the time). Oikawa and Iwaizumi as Nina and Matthias. I probably don’t need to explain to you who is who and why. Matthiwaizumi, of course, lives to a ripe old age, happy and in love with Ninoikawa. That’s what happens, yep.
I ran into an issue with Inej and Wylan. Because to me, Akaashi is quite similar to Inej, quiet but calculating and dangerous and threatening when they want to be. Independent and supportive and unfalteringly loyal, but also keeping their counterpart honest/humble/etc. And Kenma reminds me of Wylan in that he’s not super dedicated to and in love with volleyball in the same way as the others are, like Wylan was not used to the life that the others led before Kaz pulled him in. Also, Kenma is very smart and good at thinking strategically. Wylan was very good at engineering and math, and I feel like Kenma’s video game prowess would lend itself well to learning about technology systems. And Kenma is the least physically threatening out of these six, like Wylan was among the crows. But the way the ships work, Kenma should be Inej and Akaashi should be Wylan… well, it’s an AU, anyway. Akaashinej can be pining after Bokutojesper. And after pulling him in, Kazuroo falls for Wylenma.
Terushima is Kuwei. Smart and flirtatious. Makes Kenma extremely angry by flirting with Kuroo excessively. Tried on Bokuto at first, but Akaashi and his knives put an end to that very quickly. Daishou would probably also work, plus, it would be hilarious to have him flirting incessantly with Kuroo.
Second cast of Crows (maybe they’re rivals with the first cast… ):
Well, the image of sakuatsu as helnik (matthias helvar x nina zenik? I think?) wouldn’t leave my head. Hate each other at first, warm up to each other, Sakusa/Matthias lets their guard down for the first time with Atsumu/Nina, who break their trust to save them, and when they meet again, Sakusa/Matthias absolutely hate Atsumu/Nina and hate that they still have feelings for them. Atsumu/Nina had been longing to see them again but when provoked, physically or otherwise, absolutely refuse to take that lying down and immediately fight back. Classic enemies to lovers to enemies to allied enemies to lovers. The basic staple of sakuatsu, really.
Now that I’m attached to sakuatsu helnik, might as well make it a national team (+friends) party. Hinata strikes me as the perfect Wylan, except maybe that Wylan was never that exuberant. But Hinata is so nice and friendly (unless you insult him) that he would be horrified by the cruelty and death that the Crows live with on a daily basis. But then, once he got used to it and started to really love and care for his friends/teammates, he would be the fiercest and most protective of all. Also, can you just imagine the national team looking at Hinata after he casually suggests murder a la Wylan, like, “oh my god, we’ve corrupted him,” and then having a miniature crisis? Also, he starts with natural talent, albeit with an uncontrollable disadvantage that he then turns to his advantage, becoming better than anyone hoped he could be. Hinata had extreme athletic gifts, but the disadvantage of his small height. Wylan had dyslexia but also extreme intelligence and knowledge. Plus, everyone wants to be Hinata’s dad, like how Kaz adopted Wylan.
That would make Kageyama Jesper. They both have fantastic, utterly precise, superhuman (literally in Jesper’s case) aim. Kageyama is definitely impulsive at times, but although I can totally see him gambling away all his money, I feel like that would be more because he had no idea what was going on and someone conned him into it, rather than Jesper’s addiction. Their personalities are almost complete opposites, but they both come alive the most during high pressure situations (fights/games) and perform at their best in them. They can both be offensive, although Kageyama is mainly just blunt, while if Jesper is insulting, he’s probably doing it on purpose. They both encouraged their counterparts in their own ways, and convinced them that they were valuable despite their perceived disadvantages. Kageyama was the first to treat Hinata as a serious opponent and rival, and to take him seriously. Jesper was one of the first to make Wylan feel like he was more than his inability to read and that he was, regardless of the disadvantage, incredibly smart and special. They both were condescending at first to Hinata/Wylan but grew to respect them and care for them.
I’m not sure who would be Kaz… no one on the national team really strikes me as scheming and manipulative enough to be him… Maybe Suna, but I like the idea of him as Inej. Inconspicuous at first, especially compared to their colleagues, underestimated, but very skilled. Plus, the whole Thief of Secrets thing really suits Suna’s tendency for collecting blackmail. If anyone on the national team is collecting information to use against people to gain an advantage over them, it would probably be Suna. Ship-wise, that would make Osamu Kaz but… Osamu is not like Kaz in the slightest. He’s all impulse and Kaz is all calculation. Personality wise, if we spread the candidate pool to be Japanese-born volleyball players at the Olympics, Oikawa would definitely be Kaz. Scheming, strategically turning his weaknesses into strengths, manipulating, thinking ahead, bringing out the strengths of his team, and very powerful and frightening in his own right. Ship wise though, I feel like Oikawa and Suna wouldn’t last a day. They would probably destroy each other. Maybe Iwaizumi and Osamu are two of the Dregs that come along with the group, but don’t participate in the actual heist, staying on the ship instead. There were a few of those in the book; I think Rotty and Dirix were supposed to go but one of them died when their decoy ship was attacked by Pekka Rollins. There were others but I forget who.
Komori can be Kuwei. I don’t know how smart he is, but he doesn’t have a prominent partner he’s shipped with, and I can see him flirting with everyone for the fun of it and making everyone else really mad. He and Sakusa are probably not cousins in this AU.
I left out Hoshiumi, Ushijima, Hakuba, Yaku, Hyakuzawa, and Aran, which makes me sad, but I couldn’t think of a role that would fit them well. Ushijima is (I think) their captain but he is way too himbo to be Kaz (@ him and Kageyama discussing gravity in South America). Hoshiumi would be a good Jesper but Hirugami Sachirou is too experienced and calm to be Wylan. Hyakuzawa could be Wylan, but he doesn’t have an obvious partner, I don’t remember very much about Hakuba except that he’s huge, and Aran isn’t calculating enough to be Kaz, stoic enough to be Matthias, outgoing and purposefully charming enough to be Nina or Jesper, or innocently inexperienced enough to be Wylan. I included Bokuto in the previous set of Crow volleyboy musings, so I won’t count him here. Yaku is probably waiting at the Crow Club/Slat to take care of everyone when they get back and yell at them for being stupid and reckless.
Or, using a similar cast of characters, Atsumu and Osamu split up Kaz’s character (Atsumu is the schemer and manipulator, Osamu handles the logistics of being a leader - he has his own business, he’s used to records and numbers, plus it would probably have been very useful for Kaz to have a doppelganger to use as an alibi), Sakusa and Komori split up Kuwei’s character (Komori is the chaos, Sakusa, the university graduate, is Kuwei’s scientific prowess; they can be cousins here), Suna, Hinata, and Kageyama as Inej, Wylan, and Jesper, and Ushijima as Matthias. We’ll bring Tendou on to be Nina: he is very out there and not afraid to be himself, and I can totally see him sacrificing his relationship with Ushijima to keep them both safe, and Ushijima being so hurt and confused by Tendou’s betrayal that he keeps a distance when they’re reunited and accidentally comes across as aggressive.
Anyway, if you’ve reached the end of my Six of Crows/Haikyuu!! rant, thank you for sticking around! A gold star for you! ⭐ I love the volleyboys and the Crows (the Dregs ones not the Karasuno ones, although I love them too) very much and they take up much of my mental real estate.
