Beezlebub is ranked very highly in the hierarchy of hell, second only to Satan himself, but is mentioned first in the Book of Kings as the god of a Philistine city. He is noted to to assume many forms, including that of the flies he is associated with. #inktober day 7, yas I’m behind, is #drawloween prompt ‘haunted object’, & additional random prompt from ‘The Woman’s Dictionary of Symbols & Sacred Objects’, which was ‘Fox.’ I was desperate to do something interesting, something I could use for a short ghost story down the line, especially with Fox being a psychopomp & trickster in folklore I thought it was worth more than a haunted statue or mirror or jewel, so I made haunted nail polish. #inktoberday5 which iiiisss better late than never! I chose from @raqueltraveillustration & her ‘witches and familiars’ prompt list, which today was #snake then, as per, my random added prompt from ‘The Woman’s Dictionary of Symbols and Sacred Objects’ was ‘palladium.’ So now I’m confused, right? Does everyone know what a ‘palladium’ is, or am I just super uneducated? So, ignoring the metal, I found out that a palladium is a cult object, a statue or painting etc, specifically either carried into battle for blessings, protection etc, or, more often, as a protective object for a specific place. So I’m all over this with Ms. Snake yo, especially today, especially right now. The venom of Ms.Snake, like a witch who knows their herbs, can poison, heal and regenerate, or alter consciousness. So I designed a Snake for survivors today, all of us feeling, you know, just feeling a lot. ✨Snake, lend us any venom we need to protect our selves, our beloveds and our sisters from those who would hurt us. Lend us nurturing rest & comfort in your dark womb, regeneration as we shed old skins, & altered, wider sight, so we can see how to grow, come together, rest, grieve, build anew, everything we need to envision better✨ so mote it be, amen, aho.

#inktoberday4 woop woop! Today I chose my main prompt from #orientober by @nadiarausa which was ‘Sun and Moon,’ coupled with another random entry from ‘The Woman’s Dictionary of Symbols & Sacred Objects’, which today was ‘knot’! I had to do a proper think today because I really wanted to avoid drawing anthropomorphic Sun/Moon characters! With ‘knot’ I was focusing on the balancing, merging or tying together of possible opposites or either side of a dichotomy. I love drawing hands sooo much, ‘handfasting’ is a thing obviously, fingers have planetary rulers, & it meant I could sneaky do a bit of planning for my next hand tattoos
Also I love knot magic. I think because I’m more a visual-maker-creature than an actor or a theatrical creature I prefer folk magic which includes making ‘things’ over ceremonial magic. Much more my style ☕️anyway is anyone else into hands? ((Is that a valid fetish even?!))

#inktober day 2! Today I went with a different prompt, ‘rosemary witch’ from @djamilaknopf & her #botanicalwitches
This worked out really well as I’ve been working on a character called Rosemary, (they/they’re) for a while now ✨ so meet Rosemary. I thought I’d spice up my #inktober2018 by also picking a random page from ‘The Woman’s Dictionary of Symbols & Sacred Objects’ (Barbara G. Walker) & adding whatever I got into my inktober concept. Today I randomly got ‘Nixie’, which is a water sprite, which is joyful as I associate rosemary with the boundary between fire & water, being a herb associated with fire & the sun, but growing so plentifully along the coast! The ‘Rose de la Mer’! So Rosemary is summoning a water sprite, & a fab job they’re doing too lazy ink-job today, too much to do
