So, we “finished” Decade.

I put “finished” in air-quotes because after ages of nothing much actually seeming to get accomplishedand nothing ever being explainedandkilling off characters who I never really got to know but I object to them being killed on principle, and THEN YOU DID THAT TO KUUGA AKA THE ONLY GUY WITH A SOUL IN THE WHOLE SHOW I MEAN GOG DANG GUYS I DIDN’T EXPECT MUCH FROM YOU, HOW COULD YOU SCREW UP THISBADLY? I MEAN JUST,WHY.WHYYYY.

… After all that, they expect me to watch a MOVIE in order to get any kind of explanation of what’s going on or any closure?!No.No. Screw you, Decade. As much as I grew to love your complete soulless sociopath of a “hero”, as much as I liked Super Soul Kuuga and Senile Grandpaman… I am not tracking down a movie I didn’t think I’d need to download. If you couldn’t manage to explain something for once instead of just faffing about some more and pretending that being incomprehensible = deep, then no.

So we’re done. At least for now. Don’t get me wrong, on the whole, I’m still glad we watched Decade – we needed to see this trainwreck for ourselves. But I reaaaally got fed up somewhere just before the first Amazon ep, and I just can’t be bothered to watch a freaking movie. Maybe someday I’ll watch that movie. But not right now.

Right now, I need to go and start grabbing Den-O, because you know what Decade was really, really good at? Making me want to watch anything that wasn’t Decade! And really, if a story about flying trainsandimaginary monsters what doesn’t manage to be a great change of pace from Decade, then what WILL, I ask ye? … Probably a lot of other Kamen Riders too actually but eh I want trains okay

Well, I’ll give Decade this much – it’s really, really good at making me want to watch other Kamen Riders. Mostly because then I wouldn’t be watching Decade, I’ll admit (though Super Soul Kuuga and Completely Soulless Decade are amusing) but still.

Oh and uh we got up to episode 17ish and the whole Worm thing was very confusing, no doubt because Decade as a show is a complete failure at ever explaining anything.
… Watching Instagram Man Decade flip out over someone actually liking his horrible pictures was hilarious though. TOO BAD IT WAS A MONSTER, HAHA DECADE YOUR PICTURES ARE STILL UNLIKABLE BY REGULAR-HUMAN STANDARRRRDS :B

Annnd I think that’s – oh, right, final things.

1) I think I finally understand why Kuuga rarely uses his henshin if Decade insists on using Beetle Mode on him when he does, gog dang that was painful mooog poor baaaaabyyyyy ;A;
2) WOW GUYS WAY TO REUSE KUUGA’S FINAL RIDE CONCEPT FOR KABUTO, A+ CREATIVITY THERE (oh who am I kidding I still find Decade’s forced-transformation move to be hilariouuuus)
3) woah what we’re nearly done with the worlds? We’ve visited all but one? THIS SHOW, WHAT IS PACING??? Seriously, even with the short run Decade had, we still have, what, at least 12 eps to go? 13? I dunno, I can’t care enough to math? PACIIIIIIIIINNNNNG ( >A<)9

Kinda racing to keep ahead of schoolwork right now, so that hopefully, going to a con the very weekend of finals won’t kill me. So this is a bit late and I’m gonna be paraphrasing so heavily, ahahaha. We’re up to episode 12 of Decade now. The trainwrecks never stop happeniiiiing

Instagram Man Sociopath Decade becomes more of a sociopath with every passing episode, oh my gog. Also the Rider transformations keep getting more ridiculous. Also Decade only acts like a hero IF: cameras are involved, OR if it allows him to be a jerk to someone else, i.e. DiEnd. I don’t think Decade has a soul, you guys. That’s why he needs Kuuga, because Kuuga clearly has the biggest and brightest soul of all. Let me give some quick silly paraphrased-conversation examples after the break.

Episode 9
SOCIOPATH DECADE: “HERE, I’LL GIVE YOU A RANK. (ahahaha this’ll teach you for calling me out on myrank!)”
RANDOM CARD-SUIT-THEME DUDE: “Wait, what? 0?! I AM GOING TO KILL YOUUUU–”
SUPER-SOUL KUUGA: “Waaaait! D-Decade just means that, since you lost everything, you just need to pick yourself back over and start over from zero! … RIGHT, DECADE? D:”
“……. ummm YES. THAT. THAT IS TOTALLY WHAT I MEANT. AHAHAHAHAHA (oh jeez thank you soul pet, that photography girl would have killed me if I got another guy angry at me, I knew there was a reason I kept you around)”

Episode 10
“WHAT’S THAT?! A CAMERA IS IN DANGER?! THIS WILL NOT DO! HEROIC DIIIIVE! Phew, the camera is safe. … NOW AS FOR YOU, CAMERA-THREATENERS!!!! RAAAR, SUPER RAGE GO!!!!!”
{and then Decade proceeded to beat up everyone who dared harm cameras. I’m pretty sure the only reason he cared about Zombie Beast Highschooler Kid and his Photography Waifu, must be because Kuuga must have told him that Highschooler Kid cared about Photo Waifu in the same way that Decade loves cameras.}
{Also Highschooler Kid and Photography Waifu are adorable, yo. I think that’s the only thing Decade’s really done well on its own. … So I fully expect it to turn out that they ruined/stole something to make this happen, of course.}

Episode 12
OH SCREW YOU SHOW, NO. STOP INFLICTING TRAUMA ON THE ONLY TRULY DECENT CHARACTER YOU HAVE. NO. STOP. ;A; OH GOG I’M GOING TO CRY, AREN’T I? SCREW YOUUUUU
Also, rofl, Decade. Way to protect a person for the sole purpose of annoying DiEnd, grade A+ hero work right here I tell you what

SO YUP. Got one more little thing to post and then back to work with meeeee~

Watched another two episodes of Decade today, putting us up to ep 7. It’s. Uh. Hm.

1) MIRROR WORLD MAKES NO SENSE
Or, rather, Decade’s explanation of Ryuki’s legal system seems to be lacking. Not that I know for certain that Ryuki will explain it better, but they could hardly do any worse. Uh. So. Let’s see if I got this right. Seems anybody can be a Rider and arbitrarily decide whether someone else is guilty? Just by beating others up? On that note, we’ve replaced the legal system with glorified cage matches? And… Ryuki was a reporter cameraman for the news, somehow involved with this?
Well, at least it seems you can only use your rider powers in GOVERNMENT APPROVED CAGE MATCHES I mean LEGAL BATTLES so at least there’s that little safeguard I guess. Still seems rather silly. Could be quite awesome if pulled off right, but uhhhh, Decade definitely wasn’t pulling it off right.

2) So, Instagram Man Decade… assuming that wasn’t a mistranslation, he’s kind of a sociopath? I mean, he says he cannot understand other people’s feelings. Which explains a lot, but. That’s. That’s kinda messed up for a hero. And also really freaking hilarious. Mostly because he’s literally using Kuuga as his morality pet, apparently. XD “WHATEVER KUUGA SAYS ABOUT WHAT’S RIGHT MUST BE RIGHT, BECAUSE PEOPLE SEEM TO THINK HE’S A NICE GUY, SO I'MMA JUST DO WHATEVER HE SAYS :D” … yes. Great plan, Instagram Man. Beautiful plan. Keep doing this. Don’t mind me, I’ll just be over here laughing hysterically.

3) MORE RIDER TRANSFORMATIONS! Oh, gog. Ryuki’s transformation looked so painful and unless the rampant camera filters were deceiving me, his feet become the head of the dragon? Whaaaaat? Still, Instagram Man’s continued casualness about transforming people continues to amuse me. So there’s that.

… I don’t want to go back to mirror world, you guys. I mean, I will, because we need to give Ryuki a fair shake and a chance to explain its legal system in a non-stupid-sounding way, but still. I don’t wanna. The lack of logic. It hurts.

EDIT: ahahahaha someone has informed me that Ryuki wasn’t really about a legal system at all and Decade just kinda made stuff up? Yeah that sounds about right. OKAY THANKS DECADE

So 10 years ago Tumblr was my entire life, I would literally spend hours on here every single day without fail but then I went to Uni and my life changed. 

For some reason today I found myself logging back onto my early adulthood. 

Was anyone else a Tumblr user a decade ago? I’d love to know how things were different for you then. Has your life gone the way you thought it would? Because mine definitely hasn’t.

Much like last week, I stumbled across a bit of nostalgia from the beginning of my career. Along with graphic design, I used to build websites for my small business clients. And, much in the same manner I do now, I tried to provide value to each of them. My partner, Corey, and I developed a website that tried to reflect this.

And, out of curiosity, I Googled it. To my amazement, Corey still had the site uploaded to his online portfolio, even though he no longer really maintains his website any more. After a surreal, nostalgic browse around the site, I thought I would share it with you. The amazing part, to me, is the amount of vanity we both had in creating the site. We felt that using our pictures everywhere was beneficial to our marketing. However, we didn’t just use our picture (as you will find we did on Visceral Concepts), we attempted to create a “rockstar” image for ourselves. Here’s my favorite example.

If not for the dated technology (the home page features flash content), the site development is still relevant. A couple of small updates, some spelling corrections, and a little stronger framework, and the site would be useable even today.
