harry-puts-the-bi-in-bitch:

so a rant about slytherins

im a slytherin, but it doesnt seem like it on a surface level. i love learning, i draw, and write, and from this could be seen as a text book ravenclaw

i was thinking, and of course the typical things come up, like being sly and cunning. i can be, and can think of specific instances where i have been, and purposefully manipulative.

a trait that only gets brought up when talking about slytherins often being super old fashioned or racist is traditionalism.

but wait, i thought, im not old fashioned. im primarily left leaning.

but despite how harry potter pins it, being conservative, old fashioned, or right wing isnt traditionalism. traditionalism is routine and ceremony. im very traditionalist because i always do birthdays and christmases the same way every year, because i highly value culture and family history, because i dont like unprompted change

conservative politics and traditionalism arent synonyms, show slytherins being slytherins without being arseholes
