Monster March - Myconid

Had to do more than one version since fungi is such fun inspiration to design from.

The first was super fun to design, I imagine that their body has detached from the ground and its veil acts as tentacles for mobility.

The second is basically just high fashion fungi HAHA

Well that’ll be it for Monster March! Was super fun to draw some monsters as I rarely do any creature design. If you are looking for a 30 day challenge I highly recommend Matt John’s Adventure April that I did a few years back! Was lots of fun!

For several years D&D’s giant rat also was known as the Sumatran rat, despite the name of the Indonesian island seeming incongruous in places like Greyhawk.  While there are several large rodents native to Indonesia, including the large bamboo rat with a 20 inch long body and 8 inch tail, the name probably references Sherlock Holmes’ brief mention of a past case in the 1924 story The Adventure of the Sussex Vampire by Arthur Conan Doyle:

‘Matilda Briggs was not the name of a young woman, Watson,’ said Holmes, in a reminiscent voice. ‘It was a ship which is associated with the giant rat of Sumatra, a story for which the world is not yet prepared.’

This hint of a mysterious untold story has been a gift to pro and fan fiction writers ever since, inspiring many different tales in print and online.

It has been too long and these last two weeks have been too busy! But alas, I got more art coming! To continue our bestiary trend, here we have a Bugbear warrior!

Yesterday we explored Snow Kobolds, but today we look into Swamp Kobolds! If an Arctic aKobold is called a Snowbold, would a swamp one be a Swampbold?

Ever wonder if fantasy kingdoms and RPGs have cross-species pinup models?

Because my weird brain latched onto the idea and I couldn’t stop thinking about it until I’d finished these.

I can’t seem to stop. Send help.
