Get to know the satanic leaf-tailed gecko (Uroplatus phantasticus).
This nocturnal resident of Madagascar’s rainforests is a master of disguise. It specializes in mimicking dry leaves—down to its jagged tail, which looks like it’s rotting or has been chewed. And if it’s spotted by a predator, it’ll drop the camouflage act and instead open its bright red mouth for a shocking display. If all else fails and it’s caught, this gecko can drop its tail to make a getaway!

The air was thick, causing her lungs to labor as she swung and hacked repeatedly, endlessly. Metal-on-metal sounds cracked and clanged all around in an endless sea of weapons meeting. She could hear each breath echo within the helm like a resounding gong, reminding her of her frailty. She was well past her body’s physical limits and fastly approaching exhaustion. The swords felt heavy in her arms as she gripped them so tightly the blood from her fingers seemed to disappear.
Amidst the chaos in her mind and her reality, something hot– something sharp, smashed into her shoulder with such force that she staggered forward. The pain was dull for a second as the shock from the blow faded. She turned to see an archer with an empty bow only a few yards from her. His face flush as he realized he was momentarily defenseless. “Cowards,” she thought.

Pierre came to me with an interesting concept of a humanoid bat dressed in a tux and i took it and ran with it! I thought about who would personify a bat wearing a suite? Hmm…for some reason Jack the Ripper came to mind. The theory makes sense to me not that any of his victims seem to be exsanguinated but maybe he took the organs to eat them! I think I’m on to something here.

Finally had the privilege of adding to Trevin’s chest sigil we did years ago! This one posed a unique challenge to not only work around pre-existing tattoos but also to not alienate the pre-existing work. We also were able to incorporate a small cover up within the same piece. Such a fun piece to create and tattoo! I truly appreciate Trevin and all the amazing ideas he brings to me.

Nocturnal Animal Calendar Project
Starting things off with September - the Aardvark.
These nocturnal creatures are native to Africa. Their name, which comes from Afrikaans (erdvark) means “earth pig,” due to their hog-like snout. They don’t fare well in extreme heat, so they remain in their burrows until they can hunt in cooler night temperatures; feeding on ants and termites.
