#petition
it’s sad that when net neutrality happened, there were even warnings from tumblr staff
and now that europe is in danger, no one talks about it. it’s complete silence.
Here’s the link to the petition, if you’re not coward anymore to support us. We’re so far away from 1M, and the times flies too fast.
In case you haven’t heard about it, Article 13 was passed in Europe yesterday. Simply put this means that copyright is going absolutely crazy in Europe now, and content creators are fucked. The internet as we know it will change horribly.
So if you haven’t done anything yet, help by at least signing the petition and spread the news about this, because I feel Article 13 (and 11) have been completely ignored. We helped you with your Net Neutrality, now help us.
Only yesterday, the Anti-terror Bill was signed into law by the Philippine president. If the law is implemented, it practically removes people’s human rights and subjects citizens to more oppression from the government. There are already COUNTLESS forms of economic and governmental oppression present, which you can see through sources below. This law makes our present situation unbearably worse. Nobody is talking about this law on mainstream media outside of the country.
Here is a master list of sources about inequalities in the Philippines, both present and historical. All news articles are in English. Even if you are not Filipino, please still self-educate, REBLOG to spread awareness, and search up ways you can help. Sadly, I am afraid to share links to things such as petitions and donation drives because of the new law. However, I implore you to help one way or another. I know I can count on the academia community to listen and help us. Thank you.

COVID-19 Response:The Atom Araullo Specials: COVID-19: Nang Tumigil Ang Mundo | Full Episode
- This documentary is in Filipino but is still useful in understanding Philippine context during the pandemic. Please be prepared to witness the lack of government initiative and the struggles of socioeconomically disadvantaged Filipino citizens. For instance, this documentary includes how workers in the National Capital Region who live in provinces struggle to return to their homes due to poor transportation systems and abrupt government decisions. Regardless of whether or not you are able to understand the language, this documentary sufficiently showcases what is currently taking place in the Philippines in terms of the lack of medical supplies, government aid, and economic preparedness. Moreover, captured are the abuses of power due to Community Quarantine provisions (i.e. public humiliation of curfew-breakers, etc.)
Martial Law in Philippine History: BATAS MILITAR: Martial Law Under President Ferdinand E. Marcos Full Documentary
- This is a historical documentary in Filipino. It aims to shed light on the Marcos Regime, wherein uncountable atrocities and abuses took place. - This documentary is in English and has English subtitles. This is still happening today. This documentary depicts brutality on suspected drug users and seller. Hence, these documentaries are good for empathizing with citizens and understanding how bad economic inequality is in the Philippines.)

Some of these are old and some are new. This should be a starting point for self-education, not the whole picture. I chose these documentaries and articles based on how truthful their depiction is of Philippine issues. I do operate under limitations such as the minimal access to free documentaries and the number of news articles that are as unbiased as they can possibly get. However, I believe there are truths in these sources and it is our responsibility to digest this information as carefully as possible. I did cross-check this information from credible news sources, apart from documentaries which are highly limited as compared to news articles. As a student myself, I do not claim that these sources are perfect. I understand there are still biases and that there could be objective errors. If so, please message me so we can talk and address these errors. These sources were grouped into a master list for the sake of spreading awareness on Philippine issues, so let’s do our best to ensure the quality of this information.

UK petition: Ensure Trans people are fully protected under any conversion therapy ban
I’m sure you’re familiar with the news from earlier this month (April 2022) that UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has gone back on his pledge to ban conversion therapy for trans people.
There is now an official UK parliament petition that calls for the government to ban conversion therapy for everyone.
The deadline is 6 October 2022. It has just over 3,000 signatures so far, and it needs 10,000 for a response from the government and 100,000 to be debated in parliament.
You can sign if you live in the UK or are a British citizen living anywhere.
It’s being tracked here, so you can see graphs of the rate of signatures over time.
If you’re in the UK or you have followers who are, please consider signing and/or reblogging! Every action helps, no matter how small.
Saturday 9th April 2022
Two days later and…
Sunday 10th April 2022
Less than 2,000 to go!
Onthe graph you can see that it has climbed so fast that the plateaus of “night time in the UK” are very visible!

I AM BEGGING YOU TO HELP SAVE DUSTIN HIGGS
Dustin Higgs is a Maryland based artist on Death Row for a crime he did not commit -
He was convicted and sentenced to the federal death penalty as an accomplice to the 1996 murders of Tanji Jackson, Tamika Black and Mishann Chinn. It was the first federal death sentence handed down in Maryland in the modern era.
Dustinwas not the person who actually shot the three women. In fact, it was Willis Haynes who pulled the trigger, and he was sentenced to life in prison plus 45 years after a separate jury spared him the death penalty for the crime. With the resumption of federal executions in 2020, Dustin’s life is at serious risk.
He is sentenced to be excecuted on Jan 15. 2021. 3 days before MLK Day and just 5 DAYS BEFORE THE NEW FEDERAL ADMINISTRATION IS PUT IN PLACE

Tumblr. Staff. Policies.
Alright, everyone has heard so far about tumblrs new policy about allowing no adult content. Even though I run this simply writing blog where my page will not be affected that doesn’t mean I’m not gonna say that I think the tumblr staff is full of assholes and I shouldn’t stand up and sign petitions against the ban and in support of pages dealing with nsfw. (Please sign the petitions against Tumblrs new policy)
Tumblr has always been known for being the type of platform where you can scroll through your feed and find explicit shit come on, whether you wanted it to or not, and you just quickly scroll past it like nothing happened. But let’s be honest, that happens on every social media platform, just maybe not a full on porno coming on your feed. There’s an argument about how parents shouldn’t have to deal and worry about their young child being on a platform and having to deal with that, yet we’re in age where you could monitor your child’s social media and phone time for their safety. And second of all, it’s important to already teach your kids about internet safety before they even get onto any media platforms. We’re all very self aware of the problems that we face online, but tumblr has always been the site to be considered more “Rated R” than any other site. And I don’t think I’ve ever considered Tumblr has a “child friendly” site to begin with, but it can be since installing the “safe mode” option.
The main problems with tumblr is how it’s been like living in a porn bot apocalypse. And tumblr hasn’t cleaned it up at all. Some of my most popular writing pieces get reblogged by these porn bots, but they erase all my content and keep my likes and reblogs. That’s one of my most annoying issues, because even though they aren’t stealing my work, they’re stealing my credit. Yet besides that, you get random bots messaging you and coming up into your feed and getting rid of that problem, would’ve been for the greater good for everyone.
You know, I genuinely don’t have a problem with adults running porn related blogs whether it’s just reblogging or posting their own explicit content. Some people do it for their own pleasure, and some people actually do it on here to help their line of work. There is nothing wrong with working in rated r content, it’s obviously not the most traditional thing to do, but there’s nothing wrong with it as long as people are being safe about it. Isn’t that what’s really important? Doing things with safety and protecting yourself from danger. Yet, there are still people that use social media to solicitate minors and tumblr isn’t a site that is an exception to that. There are several blogs on this site that demonstrate pedophilia and concerning behavior, that needs to be looked out and watched for. And as terrible as this is, whether you’ve encountered it or not, but child pornography is a definite and disgusting reality here that is still needed to be taken care of. I’ve read a comment from an old man saying how young girls are the best types because they don’t fight back, and I’ve been across a blog concerning their own incest relations. Illegal activity and putting other users in dangers is the real problem, not if people decide to post pornstars or sell their own brand of lingerie.
You can watch porn anywhere on the internet, but you can’t find every nsfw artists on some porn site or even any social media platform without having to censor their own work, so they don’t get reported. And there are people that create nsfw merchandise, and there are few sites they can promote it on and Tumblr was one of them.
The funny thing is that the other half of Tumblr is made up of nsfw, and there’s honestly nothing wrong with that or to be ashamed of, because sex and sexual appeal is a big influence in the society we live in (which can’t be helped). There were other issues that Tumblr needed to resolve first. With the intentions of trying to fix a problem, they created a bigger one. They’re robbing several fantastic artists of exposure, because they like to draw porn, or because they’ve drawn a character with clevage or a woman showing her nipples, as if no one on Earth has them. Tumblr is just quickly going downhill by flagging everything, even content of people hugging and holding hands. Tumblr is like any other site where you share what you like on, but there’s several people here that decided to make a living on what they like to do and tumblr is a part of promoting themselves. Tumblr shouldn’t deprive people and the other side of their fan base from nsfw content, because they decided to want to be considered more “safe” when this site has never been looked at as a “child friendly” place, and wanting to make it more comfortable for others - give me a break, people use tags for a reason. And the only nsfw content that shows up under tags that aren’t related to that are because of porn bots. And just because Tumblr got taken off the App Store, I figured this place would love to rebel more instead of doing this since they claim to be “wide open” with “creative expression.” The reality of their decision is Tumblr isn’t supportive of those that use nsfw as creative expression, who were never going against any guidelines before, because of the pressure and the offense they felt for being taken off the App Store.
So, Tumblr you either get your fucking shit together and re-evaluate your decision, because what you did was extremely inconsiderate. And I’m not even running a blog considered “adult content.”
You were cool and all, but fuck you for doing this. @staff
Hey, Stranger Things fans. I know we love the show but the show and Netflix doing harm to Jewish and Romani communities right now. When the filmed in Lithuania for the past season it was in a jail used by the Nazis. Stranger Things, Netflix and Airbnb have partnered to turn this historical Holocaust site into an aesthetic hotel for the show. Please look at and sign this petition to help stop this act of Holocaust erasure https://chng.it/2rqnyg4c5Y
Not only that we have seen the show reposting and encouraging fans getting number tattoos inspired by the show. This is to reminiscent of how Nazis branded the Jewish and Romani during this time and actively mocks them and is a massive insult to the living memory of the survivors of this genocide.
Please sign the petition and if you want to learn more about this and other antisemetism work I highly recommend checking out @analyzingantisemitism on Titkok!

“Any time, any time while I was a slave, if one minute’s freedom had been offered to me, and I had been told I must die at the end of that minute, I would have taken it—just to stand one minute on God’s earth [sic] a free woman I would.”
Elizabeth Freeman, also known as Mum Bett, was among the first black slaves in Massachusetts to file a “freedom suit” and win in court under the 1780 constitution, with a ruling that slavery was illegal. She was prompted to file suit after hearing these words following the Revolutionary War: “All men are born free and equal, and have certain natural, essential, and unalienable rights; among which may be reckoned the right of enjoying and defending their lives and liberties; that of acquiring, possessing, and protecting property; in fine, that of seeking and obtaining their safety and happiness,” Massachusetts Constitution, Article 1.

Her county court case, Brom and Bett v. Ashley, decided in August 1781, was cited as a precedent in the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court appeal review of Quock Walker’s “freedom suit”. When the state Supreme Court upheld Walker’s freedom under the Constitution, the ruling was considered to have informally ended slavery in the state.

So just this morning, I heard about Stephen Hillenburg’s death after his battle with ALS.
For those of you who don’t recognize, Stephen Hillenburg’s is the creator of Spongebob Squarepants. He was also an animator, a cartoonist, and a marine biology teacher.
His passing is being mourned by fans all across the world.
However, in spite of this tradegy, fans are rallying together to sign this petition: https://www.change.org/p/nfl-have-sweet-victory-performed-at-the-super-bowl
If you couldn’t guess by the link, it’s a petition to have Sweet Victory at the Super Bowl halftime show. Yes. THAT Sweet Victory. Currently, we’re a little over 20,000 signatures away from 200,000. As anyone on the internet can tell you, Change.org changes very little. But I think that in the best situation, we can at least get a statement from the NFL, and honestly that would be EPIC.
At first, this petition was just started as a joke but the fact that it has over 177,000 signatures makes this an interesting story to follow through to its conclusion.
I’m not going to ask you to sign the petition if you don’t want to. That’s just stupid. But I actually found an article about this on FOX NEWS of all places and I wanted to share.
Anyway!
Have a great rest of your day and Happy blogging!
PLEASE, SIGN THE PETITION!!!
