#skincare review
Hello Beauty Lovers!
I hope everyone is hanging in there and staying healthy! We are slowly seeing things reopen in my state. Although Governor Newsom has left it to the counties to decide when it’s the best time to start reopening.
During this time, I have noticed that a lot more people who have quarantine at home have used this time to really work on their skincare. I think that is amazing! My…
Hello My Dear Readers,
I have been on a roll when it comes to my skincare. Not because I am wearing less makeup— but I am loving how the skin looks on my makeup free days. I have been experimenting with a few products for some time. I like to really take my time when it comes to reviewing skin care items. It takes more than two weeks to effectively see if a certain moisturizer or serum is in fact…
Hello My Lovelies!
I hope all of you are having a fantastic summer so far! I actually just got back from spending some time away in Central America; specifically El Salvador. It was lovely and a much needed break! I did come back to a lovely surprise. I was picked by Influenster to participate in one of their Voxbox to review the AHC Skincare line! I was super excited for this. Those that are…
New Skincare routine
I feel as though my old routine just doesnt work anymore. Its been 2 weeks of acne hell so i thought id change things up a bit.
I bought a few new things to help with my acne, dark spots, and uneven texture. Also my skin barrier is terrible . My skin peels off so easily when I GENTLY pop a zit . So I’m trying to get that fixed. I’m also tryin to lessen my cigarette intake. I went from 10 cigs a day to 5 and hopefully I’ll quit all together when my life gets more stable. Also if anyone wants to recommend products to super strengthen my skin barrier that’d be great!

Sensitive Skin Warning!
Be careful not to use more than one product containing phenoxyethanol in a 6-12 hour time frame!
Phenoxyethanol is a preservative, an anti-bacterial, and a stabilizer found in many products. Its a great alternative to parabens.
Products containing 1% or less are deemed totally safe by nearly all countries, however when using multiple products, each containing 1%, it adds up leading to over exposure of phenoxyethanol. So be cautious not to layer too many products with this ingredient at one time on skin. Over exposure can cause hives, rash, anaphylaxis, and dermatitis on adults, as well as animals and infants { causes nervous system damage in infants ages 3 and younger}.
Here’s a quote:
◇"Most of the concern stems from recorded incidents of bad skin reactions (on adults) and nervous system interaction in infants.“- Healthline
Phenoxyethanol Free Products:
◇ Caudalie VineActive Vitamin C Anti-Wrinkle Serum
◇Belif True Cream Moisturizing Bomb
◇Olehenriksen Goodnight Glow Retin-ALT Sleeping Creme
◇Herbivore Prism 12% AHA 3% BHA Exfoliating Glow Serum
◇Josie Maran Argan Beta Retinol Pink Algae Serum
My opinion: its totally safe to use ONE product for adults containing phenoxyethanol every 6 hours. That way you wont get over exposure. If you like using more than one product on your face at a time try products that are free of this chemical to avoid harsh side effects. I feel using one or two products with phenoxyethanol wont kill you or even bother your skin ( in my experience) unless you are allergic.
Im totally investing in those products above to avoid over exposure. Lately my skins been very sensitive and red so i want to avoid any and all causes!

Best Safe And Affordable Moisturizer
Normally I spend 30$ to 50$ on body moisturizers but this time I decided to get a cheaper one because I can’t afford to keep buying more expensive items every 2 weeks. I use this new affordable moisturizer every day once or twice a day to experience its best results. Though the top results are immediate.

I saw immediate results when using this product. It lighted my skin a bit and help with the discoloration of my knees and elbows, as well as a few spots on my legs! For my face I still choose to use my 45$ moisturizer just cuz I love it and need more cellular repair for the craters in my skin. Occasionally I’ll use a moisturizer by eucerin but I have yet to check the ingredients to confirm it’s safe.
Biotherm Blue Therapy Uplift Day Review
Hi guys,
As a Pafumado tester, I was sent a sample of the Biotherm Blue Therapy Uplift Day and I can’t wait to share my results with you!
The Blue Therapy Uplift Day Cream, containing ingredients like Red Algae and Collagen Peptide, promises to make fine lines and wrinkles less visible, while lifting and firming the skin.
This rose colored cream applies easily and smooth, thanks to the pleasant gel like texture and absorbs quickly, without leaving a greasy feeling.
During application, the cream feels not greasy at all and after application, my skin feels really soft, firm and hydrated. Any fine lines and wrinkles around my eyes area are looking slightly less visible and I’m rocking this healthy looking glow all day.
My skin wasn’t feeling irritated and I didn’t get any outbreaks after using it.
For a really optimal result you have to use this cream for longer, but even during my short testing period, I was pleasantly surprised by the result.
The cream smells pleasant and not too powdery. It is quite a subtle fragrance which is not too present or too heavy. Also, the scent fades away quite fast.
From what I’ve seen from the packaging online, the cream typically comes in a gorgeous and luxurious looking red colored glass jar but I obviously received the sample version, which is a small white tube with a red cap. But the full size packaging is looking really nice and will definitely earn it’s spot in your bathroom or on top of your vanity table.
I highly recommend the Biotherm Blue Therapy Uplift Day Cream!
A huge thanks to Biotherm and Parfumado! ❤️
Philosophy Nature In A Jar Skin Reset Serum Review
Hi guys,
Ici Paris XL kindly sent me a vial of Philosophy Nature In A Jar Skin Reset Serum to try and review as part of their Beauty & You Community.
This serum consists of 95.9% natural ingredients, is clean, vegan and contains Bakuchiol, a natural alternative to Retinol.
As we all know, Retinol is an antioxidant & a form of vitamin A that aids in cell and skin renewal. I’ve done some research on the difference between Bakuchiol and Retinol as Bakuchiol is said to be a natural alternative to Retinol but I honestly don’t see much of a difference as Retinol can be found in certain kinds of vegetables. However, for some people, Retinol is just too harsh For people with sensitive skin or known allergic reactions to Retinol, Bakuchiol is indeed a better alternative.
Anyway, back to the Nature In A Jar Serum!
After using this serum for a while now, my skin feels soft, smooth and firm. Fine lines and wrinkles are less visible and so is the redness on my face.
It’s a lightweight serum which is easy to apply. The application itself is a bit more difficult, since the pipette in the cap is not a pipette but a glass rod, making it quite difficult to get enough product out of the bottle. It also feels a bit greasy, which I personally don’t like. The serum has a very light and neutral scent. In fact, it hardly has any scent. I personally think that’s an advantage, because I don’t really like heavily scented skincare products.
The bottle itself has a young & fresh look, thanks to the bright blue colour.
For now I give this serum 4 stars, because of the greasy feeling and the pipette which actually isn’t a pipette at all. If this changes, this serum is definitely worth 5 stars!
Question:
Do you prefer Retinol or Bakuchiol?
A huge thanks to Ici Paris XL and Philosophy! ❤
Hey there skincare friends! So yeah, another year has almost passed, and what a year 2020 has been, am I right? I don’t know about you, but I feel like this has somehow been the longest year EVER. All things considered, I hope everyone & their skin is doing okay, and I hope the new year will bring better things for all of us.
So, as hinted by the title, in this post I’m going to share my favorite products that I’ve been using this year. I thought, you know, the holidays are coming up and 2020’s Black Friday is literally everyday until Christmas it seems, so what better time than now to share with you some great products so that if you’re looking to gift yourself and add some ride-or-die skincare items to your collection, there will be a list on here to get you started.
But before we do get started, it’s true that I already have a Current Favorites page that I routinely update with products that I like. But with those, I might not necessarily be using them daily or at all at the moment, if you get what I mean. This list will be different in that these are products I have been using recently and throughout 2020 and, unlike my current favorites page, I’ll be going more in-depth on here as to why I like the products, who I’d recommend them for, etc., so here goes. And P.S., I probably won’t be updating this in terms of products, so if you’re reading this sometime in the distant future (hi future you), definitely check out my Current Favorites page for a more recent list. Granted, anything on here is still a favorite. Alright, let’s get to it—grab your coffee or your tea and your Christmas cookies, put on your favorite playlist in the background on another tab (here’s one I like), and let’s get started.
(Some of these are affiliate links, most of them aren’t. Either way, I’m not making ANY real money from this post or really any content on this blog. Just letting you know, ladies.)
FYI: My current skin condition is dry, sensitive, and reactive, with the occasional breakout (aka FML ).
CLEANSERS
- The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser ($7.90-$19.90)
Why I ♡ it: This is a cream to oil cleanser that’s gentle, moisturizing, and soothing. It’s perfect for dry, sensitive, reactive skin like mine. I think this would be great for all skin types, especially those with the aforementioned skin issues. If you have oily skin or wear makeup, you might feel the need to use a water based cleanser along with this. Do you girl, do you.
Why I ♡ it: This is very similar to The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser, it’s just a bit more affordable and the texture is more of a balm before it turns to an oil. I love it for all the same reasons: it’s gentle, moisturizing, & non-stripping. “If I had to choose one?” you ask: my rich persona would choose The Ordinary one, my broke-girl-on-a-budget persona would choose the Inkey List one. Dry, sensitive skin types would probably love this as much as I do, but all skin types would benefit from using it as an oil cleansing step.
MOISTURIZERS
Why I ♡ it: I happen to love oils. I know some vow to never go near them though, lol. This one is lightweight in terms of oils, and it’s moisturizing, balancing, and absorbs pretty well. You can do your research, but basically squalane is a more stable form of squalene, an ingredient involved in the production of the natural oils on our face, so it helps to balance out the oils on your face and retain moisture. Did you just add that to your cart? I thought so.
- Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream (about $24-$31)
Why I ♡ it: I mentioned this in my recent cold weather routine post here. Like I said in that post, this is a really great every-day, year-round moisturizer. It’s a light cream texture and very calming/cooling, especially when kept in the fridge. I recommend this for all skin types, especially those with normal/dry skin in need of a calming product.
- CeraVe Healing Ointment (about $10)
Why I ♡ it: I mentioned this one in my cold weather routine post too. Basically, this is a simple moisturizing ointment close to Vaseline, but easier to spread. Just like oils, it’s definitely only for certain people who know what their skin wants. This one really helps alleviate dry patches and irritated, raw skin. Plus, I notice the blemishes or what not on my skin heals faster and with less scarring when I apply this. It’s great for the lips & body too. Win-win-win.
- Caudalie Grape Water ($10-$18) OR Evian Natural Mineral Water Spray (about $13-$20).
Why I ♡ it: Okay, so basically any simple, fine mist is my favorite; these are ones I routinely repurchase because I know my skin agrees with them. I use these sorts of mists after cleansing before other products to prep my skin and keep it damp. These are purely going to give you lightweight moisture & help calm/cool/refresh the skin. If the little money-saving angel on your shoulder is currently calling you mean names and won’t let you spend this kind of money on virtually water (lol), consider making your own mist with a fine mister bottle—I have these affordable ones.
SPFS
Why I ♡ it: No white cast, easily blends in, and is non-irritating to my skin. It’s a lightweight cream texture and is oh so slightly moisturizing. I recommend for all skin types; definitely a staple every-day, every-season sort of spf.
- Skin&Lab Fre-C Sun Lotion SPF 50+ PA++++ (about $13).
Why I ♡ it: A lightweight gel formula that blends in easily with no white cast. This has a slight scent (citrusy, I’d say) and leaves a glowly, glossy finish to the skin—both of these things I don’t mind. I recommend for all skin types, but my oily friends might not be in love with the finish. Perfect year round as well.
- HYGGEE Relief Sun Moisturizer SPF 50+ PA++++ (about $24)
Why I ♡ it: This is probably my favorite spf of all time because it really applies and feels just like a perfect cream moisturizer. And you guessed it: there’s seriously no white cast. If you hate the idea of having to apply a moisturizer THEN an spf on top, this might be your dream come true. I have fairly dry skin and still apply other moisturizing products underneath this, but if you have more normal to oily skin this can definitely replace your traditional moisturizer. Either way, I can recommend this for all skin types, especially normal to dry or those wanting a moisturizer-and-spf-in-one sort of product. This is especially amazing for the colder months, but certainly great all year too.
MASKS, TREATMENTS & MISC.
Why I ♡ it: Some clay masks leave my skin feeling tight & dry, but this one leaves my skin glowing. If you’re on the hunt for a staple clay mask, consider this one. And just a quick tip before you go around saying this made your skin dry or irritated: try to wash off your clay mask BEFORE it dries down completely and starts to get those tiny little cracks (at that point, it’s really drying out and pulling at your skin and you don’t want that, no sir).
- Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 21.5% Serum (about $29) OR the gentler option, Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 15% with Ferulic Acid (about $27)
Why I ♡ it: Vitamin C products in general are great for kicking those acne scars and dark spots to the curb. I’ve always loved Wishtrend’s Vitamin C serums because they work and pretty quick. They have two options, one I’d consider is stronger (the 21.5% version) and one I’d consider more mild (the 15% version). Sensitive skin types or those who find Vitamin C generally irritating: I’d go for the gentler option. With my sensitive skin and using topical acne prescriptions, the 21.5% option is too irritating for me.
Woah, okay that was long. If you got this far, thanks for sticking around and, of course, I hope this was helpful. If you have a second more, please also check out sundayskin’s IG, @hellosundayskin. Otherwise, I’ll catch you guys later, peace.
