Vitamins

And why you should be taking them -.-

• Vitamin A : Aids in the formation and over all health of soft tissues, bones, mucous membranes, teeth and skin.

• Vitamin B6 : A.K.A pyridoxine. Lends a hand in forming red blood cells and also maintaining brain function. This vitamin is important in maintaining proteins that are part of many chemical reactions in the body. The more you eat protein, the more pyridoxine your body needs.

Vitamin B12 : Plays a big role in metabolization, while also helping form red blood cells and maintaining the central nervous system.

Vitamin C : A.K.A ascorbic acid, an antioxidant that improves the health of teeth and gums. Aids the body in absorbing iron and maintaining healthy tissue. It is essential for healing wounds.

Vitamin D : Known as the “sun vitamin,” because it is created by the body from being in the sun. For most people - You only need 10 to 15 minutes of sunlight 3x a week to produce the right amount of vitamin D. It is hard to get the right amount of vitamin D from food. Vitamin D makes it easier for the body to absorb calcium. Calcium is essential for normal development and maintenance of healthy bones and teeth. Also it helps in maintaining the right amount of blood levels of calcium and phosphorus in the body.

Vitamin E : An antioxidant known as tocopherol that aids the body in forming red blood cells and boosting the effects of vitamin K.

Vitamin K : Helps with bruising . Some studies found it is important for bone health.

Biotin : Assists in metabolizing proteins and carbohydrates/ the production of hormones and cholesterol.

Niacin : A B vitamin. Helps in the up keep of healthy skin and nerves. At high doses it has cholesterol-lowering effects.

Folate : Works with vitamin B12 to aid in the formation of red blood cells. Needed for the production of DNA that manages tissue growth and cell function. Pregnant women should be sure to get enough folate or it can cause birth defects like spina bifida. A lot of food is now fortified with folic acid.

Pantothenic acid : Essential for the metabolism of food. It also plays a role in making hormones and cholesterol.

Riboflavin : Vitamin B2 , teams up with the other B vitamins. Important for growing and regeneration of skin and the making of red blood cells.

Thiamine : Vitamin B1, helps cells change carbohydrates into energy. Having the right amount of carbohydrates is extremely essential while pregnant and breastfeeding, and for heart function and exquisite nerve cells.

Choline : Aids in the function of the brain and nervous system. Having a choline deficiency will cause swelling in liver.

Carnitine: helps the body to change fatty acids into energy.

Sensitive Skin Warning!

Be careful not to use more than one product containing phenoxyethanol in a 6-12 hour time frame!

Phenoxyethanol is a preservative, an anti-bacterial, and a stabilizer found in many products. Its a great alternative to parabens.

Products containing 1% or less are deemed totally safe by nearly all countries, however when using multiple products, each containing 1%, it adds up leading to over exposure of phenoxyethanol. So be cautious not to layer too many products with this ingredient at one time on skin. Over exposure can cause hives, rash, anaphylaxis, and dermatitis on adults, as well as animals and infants { causes nervous system damage in infants ages 3 and younger}.

Here’s a quote:

◇"Most of the concern stems from recorded incidents of bad skin reactions (on adults) and nervous system interaction in infants.“- Healthline

Phenoxyethanol Free Products:

◇ Caudalie VineActive Vitamin C Anti-Wrinkle Serum

◇Belif True Cream Moisturizing Bomb

◇Olehenriksen Goodnight Glow Retin-ALT Sleeping Creme

◇Herbivore Prism 12% AHA 3% BHA Exfoliating Glow Serum

◇Josie Maran Argan Beta Retinol Pink Algae Serum

My opinion: its totally safe to use ONE product for adults containing phenoxyethanol every 6 hours. That way you wont get over exposure. If you like using more than one product on your face at a time try products that are free of this chemical to avoid harsh side effects. I feel using one or two products with phenoxyethanol wont kill you or even bother your skin ( in my experience) unless you are allergic.

Im totally investing in those products above to avoid over exposure. Lately my skins been very sensitive and red so i want to avoid any and all causes!

It’s bullshit that we even get scurvy. Most mammals synthesize their own Vitamin C, except apes and a handful of other mammals. We had evolutionary ancestors with so much access to fruit they didn’t even notice when a mutation broke Vitamin C synthesis and now we’ll die without it like a bunch of fucking chumps.

You know what else can’t synthesize Vitamin C? Guinea pigs. We’re no better than a bunch of fuzzy cylinders.

Vitamin C is a controversial subject among both the medical and health-conscious community. There are those who swear by it’s healing effects and those that disparage it’s efficacy.

But why don’t you judge the it for yourselves?

How Vitamin C Could Help You This Winter Season:

Vitamin C intake has been found to speed recovery from upper respiratory tract infections in young people. Individuals who supplemented with hourly doses of 1,000mg of Vitamin C for six hours (6,000mg in total) and then continued to take thrice daily doses of 1,000mg thereafter exhibited an extraordinary 85% decrease in cold and flu symptoms compared to those who took the conventional pain relievers and nasal decongestants for their symptoms.

Personally, I use a high quality Vitamin C supplement (Ascorbic Acid) daily to supplement both overall health and training. As research continues into the benefits of Vitamin C, we’re seeing more and more that the pathetically low Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of 90mg, is enough only to prevent the onset of scurvy, but does not necessarily promote any greater degree of wellness beyond that.

PREVENTION is better than the cure!

We are plagued by advertising scaring us into buying wrinkle cream the moment we turn 30, but we must take care of our skin before that.

Facial massages, oils, drinking water, vitamin c, staying out of the sun and many more can prevent dry and ageing skin before it happens.

But no matter your age, don’t give up! These can be beneficial to all ages, however the sooner you start, the better.

PREVENT premature ageing with food!

I cannot STRESS the importance of Vitamin C. It produces collagenthatkeeps skin young and glowing.

Here are some great sources of Vitamin C:

Sweet Potato

Broccoli

Mango

Oranges

Papaya

Spinach

Kiwi

Lemon

Blueberries

Strawberries

Pineapple

Grapefruit

Raspberries

Everytime Josie draws something my will to live returns just enough for me to last until she draws again.

But in all seriousness, this is magnificent

I really wish I could be more consistent about drawing, but I swear every time I pick up the pencil all that  comes out is chaos with the occasional one good picture, lol. But that aside …
