“Arrival at Bag End”

I was asked by the Tolkien Society to create a painting for this year’s Christmas Card. This is what I came up with.

Mine arrived yesterday morning. :-)

Since one of the prints of my Second Age watercolour of “Sending out ships” is slightly damaged in the upper lefthand corner, I’m giving it away. If you’re interested in entering the draw, reblog/retweet until tomorrow, Sunday 22nd May 23h GMT+1.

Also, because the two complete sets of all my 15 Second Age artworks sold out so quickly, I’ve made another two sets available at my storenvy:

“Stealing the fruit of Nimloth”

Twelfth of fifteen new watercolours depicting Tolkien’s Second Age. I hope to finish the series by the end of April.

“Defending Osgiliath”

Eleventh of fifteen new watercolours depicting Tolkien’s Second Age.

Digital prints of my Tolkien art “The Woody End” and “Pippin and Faramir” are available for preorder at my shop: https://khorazir.storenvy.com/

There’s also a new Tolkien Postcard Book (#3). Below are the artworks contained in it (from The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings):

Tolkien Postcard Books #1 and #2 are also available again.

Experimenting with rubber masking fluid again for my in-progress Second Age Tolkien illustration. Can anybody guess which scene this is?

“Greenwood the Great”

The tenth of fifteen new watercolours depicting JRR Tolkien’s Second Age.

And Melkor made also a fortress and armoury not far from the north-western shores of the sea, to resist any assault that might come from Aman. That stronghold was commanded by Sauron, lieutenant of Melkor; and it was named Angband.

In seven hours the glory of each tree waxed to full and waned again to naught; and each awoke once more to life an hour before the other ceased to shine. Thus in Valinor twice every day there came a gentle hour of softer light.

“The weaver, the shaper of wood, and the worker in metals; and the tiller and husbandman also, though these last and all that deal with things that grow and bear fruit must look also to the spouse of Aulë, Yavanna Kementári.”

@tzitzki created these fierce and gorgeous Maedhros and Fingon at the Dagor Aglareb - based on my Monster.

This story originated with an art piece, and it continues to be tied with visual elements.

Thank you so much m. tzi! They are so detailed and perfect. Their armor and the way you built in the war bells is amazing. Your art is incredible!

The artist currently has open commission slots - details here.

Moster can be read on AO3 here.

redbootsindoriath:

@cultivating-wildflowers has been rereading LOTR and mentioned that since Tom Bombadil had been around since forever, he was there before the firstborn elves.  He was basically their introduction to sentient beings.  Which is super funny but also super terrible because imagine being an elf, exploring and trying to learn about this new world you’ve found yourself in, and suddenly this strange, short man comes prancing by, singing nonsense, and you begin to question everything you’ve learned so far.

Melkor ’s farewell in the War of Wrath ) The sketch has been around since the 19th year, but it has become more relevant now, in the sense that no one knows when they will have to say goodbye to the fandom. No, I’m going to draw it while there’s a playground, just who knows. So if anything - it was cool, fun and “I did it my way”)

MAEDHROS Flemish Painters

I hate that I do it to myself every time to put in all the details… oh well…. Worth it? ^^’

So yeah, here’s the next gen firstborn based on Filips de Schone his portrait by anonymous painter ^^

WIP Maedhros Flemish Painters

Finally got to make my sketch for Maedhros ^^ a brooding boy

WILWARINDIL Radiant Commission

For@arlenianchronicles! This is their wonderful OC and they’re lovely so go give them some love!

I had so much fun and was so honoured to draw him ^^ I love his butterfly iconography and I’m glad I still thought of the extra butterfly wings XD

NERDANEL Flemish Painters

There she is!! It’s been ages since I drew her ^^ this time tho, she’s in the clothes of Isabella van Bourbon (1436-1465). The painting of her I chose has no known painter, but it’s been guessed to have come from the Flemish school! It took me ages to draw the hair so I’m going let my hand rest now for a bit ^^

WIP Nerdanel Flemish Painters

Look, I’m going to try to make the hat look good… be glad I already allowed her to keep her hair instead of her looking basically bald (nothing against bald people at all, but in the 15th century it did not look good or natural with those hats)

GLORFINDEL AND THE BALROG

This is for the dtiys challenge from the amazing and wonderful @silmaspens !!! This was truly a challenge to do, but I had fun testing my limits ^^ I hope I did their artwork justice!!

silmaspens:
