WHEN I WANT TO BE UGLY

I sit in the shower when I want to be ugly,

Slouched and round.

I let my ankles

dig into the plastic floor of the tub

Until I can feel pain in the bone.

I let the water run

Too hot and too cold,

Stinging that disgusting back

and shoulders

I am crumpled beneath.
