Stop trying to get attention from those who hurt you. Stop hating your body, your face, your personality, your quirks…love them. Without those things you wouldn’t be you and why would you want to be anyone else? Be confident with who you are. Smile, it’ll draw people in. My happiness will not depend on others anymore. Just a little note for each of you out there! Read those words to yourself and then repeat it until you believe it. Learn to truly love yourself…everything about yourself. It isn’t easy and is something I honestly struggle with a lot but there is so much power in letting go of your self hate. At Jimmy Johns & this spoke to me. It was too high to get a level photo tho; it’s rare for things to be too high for me. I am shrinking tho, that was confirmed at my annual appt in Jan. I used to be 5’ 10.5", now I am 5’ 9", I’ve lost an inch and a half due to degenerative disc disease & bone density issues from steroids. Sometimes (actually often) I have to remind myself that these things are true & apply to me. If you don’t suffer with a chronic illness, or a mental illness or PTSD then you are very lucky & probably don’t worry about these things & don’t need reminders or self help bandaids. I’m going to take a moment to tell you about miss THANG @theshaunabrooks. I woke up this morning to such a loving message from her on her IG feed, and I feel it’s only right to return the favor ❤️ I met Shauna via IG back in 2014 after she approached me about interviewing her for any of the platforms I contributed to. In 2015, I interviewed her for @ebonymagazine Digital to educate the world about the struggles of Black Trans Women. Shauna opened my eyes to A LOT, especially when I dug deeper into her history as a Trans Sex Worker.

Ever since, Shauna and I have been close. She was my second guest on my radio show on @playboy_radio , and we’ve had some fun times together. I’ve been there for Shauna through some pretty rough times. You wouldn’t even be able to begin to understand what trans women of color have to go through ESPECIALLY when they are unapologetic about being sex workers and PreOp.

We believe that voices from everywhere in the community should be represented in these discussions, so we’re looking for two fan representatives to join us on the panel. On April 23, at 1 pm ET, to recognize Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Uplift will host our first annual live event: Uplift Out Loud.
What is Uplift Out Loud?
It’s a day of empowerment and solidarity, where the members of the community can stand united in our shared passion to stop sexual violence. Advocates, speakers and performers from all walks of life will lend their unique voices to this event.
Much like our established projects, this event will be integral in sustaining the conversation surrounding sexual violence in online communities. And we need your help.
If you are a sexual assault survivor and are comfortable speaking about your experience we invite you to join us to share your story as we host an online vigil and a unifying rally.
