Unpopular Opinion

I hate the cancel and hate culture of the series fandoms, solely on the basis of their OTPs and ships.

Like dudes, wake the fuck up. Your ship is a tiny dot in the vast, colorful and astounding universe of the show. Y'all behaving rudely just because something that you wanted didn’t happen is basically a slap on the face to the creators of all these amazing shows that they spend so much time and hard work on. It’s their show, they can make it however they like it. Remember that they’re the one with the whole story and plot, not us, and that they always strive to present the show in such a way that every single aspect is intertwined, making sense in the end.

Fucking wake up and look past that one percent faulty and appreciate the other 99 percent mastery. Idiots.

If the creators have the option to do whatever they want with the show, the viewers have the right to dislike their choices and voice their opinions. It mustn’t result in threats towards the prodicers and the cast, but it CAN result in collective outrage. This is precisely what happened in the voltron community, where the last half of season 8 was rushed and unnecessarily fast-paced.

If you like the show, great. If you don’t, great. If you want to talk about your feelings on the show, great. But don’t fucking harass the creators AND people who have a opinion that’s different than yours. Which is what the OP did.

Pardon my french, but get that shit out of the tags and quit messing with the beehive. Your post has nothing to do with klance, sheith and voltron itself, it’s supposed to be a callout to the community, but it fails even at that. Stop using misleading tags to put your entitled opinion in people’s dashes.

My darling, my love, prepare for a VERY long rant.

Although there are great a many points in your speech that I agree with and stan, that are amazingly well detailed and further explains what my dumbass self wanted to write, but honestly forgot to include, and you have your opinion that you expressed, and I really respect that. But you have to realize that my problem is the shipper. My opinion is that Majority of the shippers are basically ruining every series; wrongfully, harshly criticizing the creators for that one singular aspect of the show that I believe isn’t even relevant enough, and not even praising or acknowledging the thousand other amazing aspects.

Voltron has always been one of my favourite animated series. But this is how I feel what the fandom of the show did with it. You say that leave voltron and klance and sheith out of it, how can I when my target audiences are the shippers, and Klance and Sheith are the major ships in the series, whose fans frankly have the most power and say in their own fandom.

You say that S8 of Voltron was extremely rushed, and I wholeheartedly agree with that. I wasn’t satisfied with it, still salty about how they ended it, however it doesn’t mean I hate the godamned show & want others to hate it or stop watching too, which I find is the behaviour of most shippers. Voltron has ALWAYS been a show about a group of space nerds getting stuck in outer space, trying to fight a centuries old war that threatens to destroy their whole universe. Definitely NOT a show where you get to see which character hooks up with which and to see their mundane lives. The writers made the final season, where the FINAL fight happens, to show how things are in actual war. Nobody’s got time to bullshit and snog around in war. You rarely have time to sit in peace, there is CONSTANT worry and fear of death. You go into it without even knowing if you’ll come out alive and intact. You lose lives, get trauma, your whole lives change in war. Fact is that majority of the fandom turned the series into god damn shipping wars.

Yes, everyone most definitely has the right to express their opinions over the things they didn’t like, but that doesn’t mean that you forget to appreciate the good parts. My problem and opinion is that most people stress over the bad  and faults so much, they don’t even appreciate the winner, the good parts of the show. This type of behaviour is almost always taken up by the shippers, they just appreciate their OTP scenes, and diss whatever is irrelevant to them. It also most definitely discourages any other potential viewers in the future, depriving them of experiencing the same wonder, love, and amazement that we felt.

I’m not telling you to stop shipping your ships, God no. I’m an avid shipper myself. I’m just saying that don’t Stan or Hate a serie simply on the basis of what or whom you ship. And I find your opinion, although it is contradictory to mine, still valid. You have the right to express any and every opinion that you have, and I still love you OP.  The internet is free, and for all, as. BUT I’d just like you to extend the same courtesy to me rather than telling me to fuck off just because I have opinions that differentiate yours, and not even remotely harmful to others.
