Person A rushed for their Greek group last year. This rushing season, Person B got into their separate group.
Rushing is hard, and Person A may be a little bit too protective, since their group went pretty easy and now they’re hearing a lot of shit about the other group. It isn’t good when you start to distrust the group/frat/sorority your person is joining.

Person A keeps a list of things they objectively do well, which they force themselves to look at and add to when they’re feeling bad. If they can’t add something, they have to date it. It’s not a secret that they do it, but they are a little ashamed of the many blank spaces of when they couldn’t think of something to add.
