It’s that time of the year again. A LOT of money is donated at Christmas time so here’s your yearly reminder of popular charities you should NOT donate to:

-The Salvation Army[x]

-PETA [x]

-Susan G. Kormen for the Cure [x]

-Autism Speaks [x]

There’s lots more horrible and corrupt charities out there so please do your research and please feel free to add to this list

Today is transgender day of remembrance. I’m sure plenty of people are seeing posts go by about remembrance, better said than I could manage- and so, I’d instead like to ask people to spare a thought for the lives, work and struggles of people still living, too. It’s a commonly repeated refrain that it is easier to “remember” the most vulnerable among us once they are gone than it is to pay them mind when they’re alive. It’s also very true.

Want to help people still alive? Particularly groups helping those who face the brunt of violence, such as transgender women of color? Check out these places:

  • Lambda legal (committed to LGBT and HIV+ legal work, does trans outreach specifically)
  • Trans lifeline (suicide hotline by and for trans people in the US)
  • Sylvia Rivera law project (campaigns broadly on trans rights and provides resources)
  • Mermaids UK (UK charity that supports trans youth and their families)
  • Sparkle (the UK’s biggest trans charity)

It takes a lot for a woman to push all the way to the top in a male-dominated industry like rap. Her 1994 Grammy Award winning song “U.N.I.T.Y.” reminded listeners that “I bring wrath to those who disrespect me like a dame.” She empowers women and girls with her music and life story, helping them take the reins in their own hands. She also supports charities like HIV/AIDS groups and women’s organi

zations. All in a day’s work for this Push Girl!

Tell your friend she’s got a little Queen Latifah in her. Reblog now to give her a little push.

Words cannot describe my joy and gratitude. We managed to raise 3,524 USD (14,000 PLN) from the sale of charity prints and yesterday’s funraiser on stream. In less than 2 days!!! And this number continues to grow! I love my community so much… Maybe we are not the biggest, but definitely powerful! Thank you! ❤

The collected money will be divided and sent to PAHand NBU!
I will show you the screenshots as soon as the transfers are credited, unfortunately it takes some time.

You can still donate money to our fundraiser: https://pomagam.pl/flyingpalaceforukraine

Or buy my and Jag’s charity prints:

The preorders will be open until March 6th.

We would also like to ask you for understanding and patience. At this point we have almost 200 orders to be manually packed, addressed and shipped, and there are only two of us, so it might take a while

Keep being awesome!

The International Red Cross is so pathetic. Again

this-tragic-affair:

PETA: They’d rather spend their money on publicity campaigns than on the animals in their care. PETA killed 73.8% of the animals in their care in 2015 (x)

FCKH8: Is a for-profit company that exploits oppressed groups for money. They’re also wildly uninformed, and spread misogyny, cissexism and bi/panphobia, as well as stealing their posts/designs (x)

Autism Speaks: They spend most of their money on researching a way to eliminate autism, heighten the stigma against autism and don’t have a single autistic person on their board (x)

Please support other, better charities, and feel free to add any others you can think of to this.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure: CEO makes insane amounts of money, they deny a lot of requests for wigs/help with treatment/etc., and have attempted to sue other charities that use the color pink as part of their anti-breast cancer campaign. ( xxx )

The Salvation Army: They promote the hatred of LGBT+ people, work with fundamentalist Christian groups to support conservative politics and rip off and exploit workers. ( xxx )

Wounded Warrior: They take money that should be spent on veterans and blow it on huge opulent parties for the company bigwigs. 26 million in 2014 alone wasted! ( xxx)

^ Important reminder to NOT waste any money donating to these groups

Reblogging because of the added info about Wounded Warrior.

A good way to know if a nonprofit you’re donating to is allocating their money in the right way is to check out their Charity Navigator rating: http://www.charitynavigator.org

Signal boosting, the bell ringers are out in force, and this info is too important.

All of these are not worth your time.

Um also i said i would be taking a backseat but consider donating to these organizations also this indigenous history month because we are quite a small community in comparison to many

This one is for poverty in mi'kmaq communities and their website offers education on the disparity people face when living on the reservations

This one is for disabled mi'kmaq peoples as accessibility is quite difficult when many of us live under the poverty & in incredibly rural areas

This one is for city natives, their goal is to branch into urban areas where our language and culture can be accessed communally

And this month if you see any first nations or i'nuk people posting their information please at least boost. Especially to LGBTQ ntvs. Thank you and happy indigenous history month ❤️

Yes! Please remember June is also Indigenous History month! Here’s a few other organizations to support that I reccomend! (These are Canadian non-profits)

Indspire does scholarships for Indigenous students in post-secondary!

The Native Women’s Association of Canada has tons of programs supporting women and two-spirit people, including support to families of missing and murdered Indigenous women.

The First Nations Caring Society does events and presentations supporting Indigenous children and youth.

(They also run programs supporting Jordan’s Princple)

The National Center For Truth and Reconciliation, in partnership with the University of Manitoba, takes donations to support their small community grants and other programing.

I wouldn’t reccomend these organizations if they weren’t out in the communities working for our people. Please support the orgs in this post if you can!!

I personally donated to the CARE Ukraine Crisis Fund which provides immediate aid and recovery, food, water, hygiene kits, psychosocial support, and cash assistance, primarily for women, girls, families, and elderly people.
