Here is my “El Raton Perez” One-shot. For everyone who did not see the post: apparently in Colombia the tooth fairy is a mouse (sometimes a rat!). I saw that, had a desperate need for more cute Bruno and Antonio interaction, and here we are. Enjoy!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s happening. It’s really happening.
Antonio clutches the blanket tight to his chest. The spot in his mouth where his tooth is missing still aches a little, but that pain was pretty much forgotten the moment he heard the little squeaks coming from under his bed.
When Mirabel had pulled a crying Antonio into her lap and had told him about El Raton Perez, the little boy with one tooth missing had immediately believed her. If there is anything he knows for sure, it’s that his favorite prima would never lie to him.
Mirabel is nice. The nicest! She sometimes teases, but only in a funny way. Not like Camilo, who is also nice and funny, but whose jokes sometimes are only funny for himself.
Antonio believes Mirabel, he really does, but a rat that takes your tooth home and gives you money in return also kinda sounds too good to be true.
CHAPTER UPDATE|chapter two: i will do anything for you
… “So am I, mi pequeña luciérnaga, it’s the last gift we’re going to have until all of you are grown and have your own kids!”
“That’s gonna be a long time, papá,” Moerai says in awe, eyes going wide as she pulls away from him.
Her papá chuckles “Indeed it is, Moe, but it’ll be worth the wait.”
Moerai nods in agreement “My kids will have the neatest gifts!”… .
CHAPTER UPDATE|chapter one: my little firefly
… "You better not be encouraging Camilo’s antics, mi pequeña luciérnaga, you know that your Tía Pepa won’t like that.”
She hadn’t been playing games with Camilo today, he had recently been blessed by the Casita and his gift was that of shapeshifting. Herself, little Mirabel, and Camilo had been having a blast with his gift, much to everyone’s chagrin, since his birthday.
Moerai shrugs her shoulders nonchalantally “Tía Pepa doesn’t scare me, papá! ‘Sides, I don’t mind her storms.”
“Well, luciérnaga, she scares me,” … .
BOOK POSTER: my little versailles
❝With the gift to see into the past of a person or object, Moerai Madrigal had silently been deemed the more useful version of her papa, Bruno Madrigal by her abuela, although Moerai would hardly call her ability a gift. Since her fifth birthday Moerai has had to deal with the crushing weight of not being able to touch anyone she loves without seeing everything they’ve been through and she had to deal with the pressures of being a magical Madrigal.
After her papa disappeared and her younger cousin, Mirabel, wasn’t blessed by the miracle, it wasn’t hard to see that her family was in shambles although they buried it like the past under layers of denial and the five stages of grief. But somehow her family moved on in an unconventional way, Moerai stayed the same, always wondering when her papa would come back, wondering when it would be alright to talk about him again. And then Mirabel claims that the miracle is dying and it’s up to them to save it.❞
Here’s A little AU in an AU in a AU, that took me awhile to draw some fanart. I’m super fangirling over the @lethalamigosgang.
Tell me what y'all think.
|| While Bruno,Miles & the twins (My Bruno x Oc Children) have bonding time, Sonia is in the kitchen, helping Julieta w/ dinner while José ,who was invited to stay & eat by Bruno, watched the pot of pollo.||
***It was abit awkward between them but Sonia gently glances & chuckles at his nervous stance while she cuts the veggies**
Sonia:*chuckles quietly*it’s kinda weird but a relief having you back in Encanto José, but a good weird. I had a huge crush on you back in the day. Then when you left, We were worried sick about You *reminiscing the old times*
José:*Stunned by the sudden confession* W-what!?! W-when?! Does Bruno know?
Sonia:*Stops cutting for the moment*of Course he does, It was a few months before you left. Brunito & I didn’t mind sharing feelings for you, I wanted Bruno to be happy first. We wanted to tell you when You were ready but You left. Bruno was hurt the most out of both of us.
José:*looks off to the side w/ a regretful face*that’s why you stayed close to Bruno and I…..then you two comforted each other, gotten married & had tu hijo y las niñas long after that, I’m guessing?
Sonia:*Nods*A good hunch. But After all those years, We never stopped thinking about you *breathes in relief from keeping it in, grins slowly* & we’re happy to see you’re here now, We told Miles & the girls stories about you too, That’s why they’re less shy around you.
José:*hesitantly Puts his hand on her shoulder,looking down at her as he gives her a broad tired smile*Miles seems like a good man. I can tell how well you two raised them, I can tell they have some of Bruno’s looks. The three of us have so much to catch up on, huh, Sonsa?
Sonia:*gobsmacked by the nickname, playfully Waved the knife in her hand at him with a smirk*Watch it, PedeJosé.
Papa Bruno Au is such amazing alternative version Of Encanto. I can totally see Why people Love it.
This is my View on The Au and how Coco’s ‘Remember Me’ can help me imagine the most adorable & touching scene that could make you cry.
Hey guys! This chapter has been a particular pain because of the shifting plot and interactions, but it WILL be coming out some time this weekend, because holy crap I need to move on.
Her favorite rose (part 2)
I’m sorry it took me so long to finish this, but life got in the way as usual. Again, it’s nothing special, just wanted to get this out of my chest and share it. It’s possible I’ll write more of Isa and Rosa in the future. But I’ll post everything on ao3 and put the link of the new stuff here, it’s faster Hope you enjoy.
Link to part 1
The next morning Isabela was trying so hard to grin and bear during breakfast with her family, even when abuela started talking of her engagement with Mariano, again.
But she reached her breaking point when…
“He wants five babies.” Dolores said, listening to the Guzmans with her gift.
Isabela froze, eyes wide with shock.
Oh, hell no.
There was no way she was going to do that. Was Dolores messing with her? She hoped she was. However, knowing even a little Mariano, those could very well be his words.
She needed to get away from here, now.
She got up from the table before abuela could stop her and talk, for the hundredth time, about how good this marriage would be for both of their families.
Isabela hurried into town, heading to the hat shop. Rosabel’s family hat shop where her girlfriend worked, to be precise. At this hour the shop was usually empty and Isa knew that Rosa was on duty today.
The doorbell above Isabela rang as she entered ready to greet her lover, but she stopped in her tracks. There was a customer inside that was talking to Rosabel. A young man probably the same age as Mariano.
That was fine. She could wait until he leaved. Meanwhile Isabela pretended to look at the hats on display.
She was looking at a sombrero vueltiao, when a sentence from the young man caught her attention.
“I would like to treat you too dinner. Are you free this saturday?”
Isabela almost choked with her own saliva.
“Keep calm, maybe he meant as friends.” tried to reason Isabela.
“I wanted to go on a date with you for a while now.”
Okay, he didn’t mean as friends, but that’s still fine. Isa knows Rosa can take care of herself really well against this type of situation.
“I’m afraid I’m already busy this saturday.” Rosabel said with a glacial tone, which should have given the idea to the guy to leave and never return.
“Oh, okay. What about sunday?” he continued unperturbed.
“I’m afraid I’m busy every day of the week from now until my death. Now, if you may-”
“Oh c'mon, I’m just asking for one date, not to marry you! Just give me a chance!” he loudly protested.
Now, that was not fine.
“He’s the insisting kind of guy, ugh.” thought Isabela. She hated those. Why couldn’t they take a hint and just leave instead of making things harder?!
Isabela saw Rosabel’s expression harden and she knew her girlfriend had everything under control.
“I made pretty clear that I said no. I have to ask you to leave the shop, sir.” her glacial tone still in use and it was even more glacial if possible.
The young man grumbled indistinctly under his breath while he stormed towards the door. Just as he was crossing the threshold, he tripped over a root that appeared out of nowhere, which disappeared in the blink of an eye. He went flying across the front door, landing on his face just outside.
“Ow, did you get hurt? My mother Julieta is giving arepas in the plaza! Hurry up or there will be nothing left! You’re welcome, bye forever!” Isabela shouted at him closing the door in his face full of scratches.
She turned to Rosabel, who was watching her with amusement.
“Subtle.” Rosa smirked at her.
“That I was.” Isa shrugged innocently.
Rosa, still smiling, shaked her head. Isabela placed a kiss on Rosabel’s cheek, near the jawline.
“Seriously though, did something happen? I know you don’t act reckless unless something upsetted you.” Rosabel asked, watching Isabela with a worried face.
“You mean besides that irritating excuse of a man who tried to ask you out?”
, besides him. It takes more than that to make you lose control.” Rosabel took Isa’s hand “What is it?”
Isabela sighed. Rosa seemed always able to look past all her facades.
“Mariano is going to propose to me tonight.”
Rosa run her thumb on the back of Isa’s hand, her eyes fixated on her girlfriend.
“What else?” she asked, knowing that wasn’t all.
Rosabel swore she could almost see the aura of nervousness around Isabela. The eldest Madrigal took a deep breath.
“According to what Dolores heard, if she wasn’t messing with me that is, he wants five babies.” an anxious shiver run through Isa.
Rosa squeezed Isabela’s hand and said with a dead serious face “Not if I cut his dick off first-”
“Rosa!”
“What?”
Rosabel blended into the crowd that was forming outside the house of the Madrigals.
The townspeople were waiting patiently and in religious silence, holding up the sign ¡Felicidades! all ready to make their congratulations.
Rosabel was pacing in the back, not knowing what to do with herself. As much as she wanted to waltz in and proclaim: “This marriage must not take place!” she knew she couldn’t. Her and Isa agreed to let things make their course and she would keep her promise. Although she couldn’t help but feel stuck and impotent.
A commotion from inside the house got her attention. After a few seconds the windows bursted open and everyone cheered, only to assist at a literal rainstorm inside the house.
Rosa watched in astonishment, not understanding what was happening.
Mariano and his mother ran out of the house surpassing the crowd. Rosabel catched a glimpse of the man with a hand on his nose.
Rosabel was getting more and more confused by the second, but pleased at the same time to know that something might have gone wrong.
A moment later Alma Madrigal stood in the doorway, frantically yelling something about the magic and how everything was fine and slamming the door shut right afterwards.
Yup, something definitely went wrong.
Isabela was estatic.
She barely got any sleep after that disastrous dinner, but she couldn’t care less about it.
Her engagement with Mariano could be considered over after the latest events of that night, all because of her little sister.
Isabela was still stressed out about abuela and what the matriarch would do to fix everything. Right now Alma Madrigal was on her way to talk to the townspeople and, most likely, to the Guzmans.
She was really trying not to think about it, but the fear of her act falling apart and letting her exposed for the first time in years was getting stronger and stronger. She stopped in her tracks to take some deep breaths, in and out, trying to calm herself down and don’t hyperventilate.
Ugh, why does Mirabel need to make my life harder than it already is?!
Not that Mirabel or anyone else knew about it. They very much obviously weren’t supposed to. And she wasn't actually angry, not quite… what she felt was a little more complex and hard to describe. Yes, she was glad of the ruined proposal. At the same time she was less satisfied with abuela’s disappointment for the turn out of it, even if said disappointment wasn’t directed at her but at her sister.
Isabela pretending to be the perfect daughter had been a choice she had been forced to take, but nevertheless took it herself. Just like it was always meant to be… a burden she carried alone.
She didn’t want to think about that right now though. She needed to escape for a bit.
That’s why she was in her usual dress so early in the morning. She was getting ready to sneak out and go to Rosabel’s house to tell her the news herself.
Isabela was using her bed to reach the upper window, but she froze in place when she heard her room’s door opening and a voice.
“Isa? Heeeyyy…”
Mirabel.
Damn it. What did her sister wanted from her now? Couldn’t she wait a couple of hours?
She guessed it couldn’t be helped. Isabela putted on a pissed off face and made her presence known.
Rosabel was slowly getting ready for the day. She didn’t have anything important to do today, being her free day from work during the week.
Maybe she could go see Isabela and find out what happened yesterday evening. Okay, she was kind of half lying to herself, ‘cause that was more of an excuse to just see her girlfriend. She missed her already.
Rosabel had just walked outside when a bunch of unidentified plants suddenly grew all around her. No, not just around her, they grew everywhere! The whole town was covered in plants of all kinds!
Rosabel got a closer look. It seemed like most of them where succulents plants.
This was Isabela’s doing for sure. Rosa knew Isa’s always been fascinated by these kind of plants, but reluctant to grow them herself, fearing abuela’s reaction.
As Rosabel walked on the main street she met many confused townspeople, who were trying to clean a path through the multiple plants covering the tiled floor.
That didn’t last long though, because in a matter of seconds the plants dissolved by themselves.
And then something, sort of like an earthquake, shaked the Encanto.
Casita crumbled before their eyes with Mirabel still inside. A rush of panic and fear moved all the Madrigals in a frantic search for her. The first to find her was Julieta, who made sure her daughter was not injured. Which she wasn’t thanks to Casita that protected her until the end.
In that moment Rosabel came running towards the remains of La Casa Madrigal. Her eyes darting all over the place to locate her lover.
Then she saw her.
Away from everyone else, almost hiding in a corner, Isabela was sitting on her knees on the ground with an empty expression on her face. Rosabel sprinted in her direction, worried sick, and dropped to the ground in front of the girl without a second thought.
“Isa! Isa, are you okay?!” Rosabel took Isabela’s face in her hands. “Mi amor, you aren’t hurt, are you?”
Isabela’s lucid eyes didn’t move from the ground while giving an imperceptible shake of the head. She didn’t seem to be completely in the present as she distractedly glaced at the house ruins and her family.
“I’m a failure.”
Rosabel was taken aback by that “What?”
“I don’t wanna be constantly perfect anymore… I’m so sick of it…” Isabela looked at down her hands “I also lost my powers and that was the only thing everybody was really interested in.” a single tear left her right eye “I am nothing now… and if you don’t want to be with me anymore, I understand-”
¿De qué diablos estás hablando?” Rosabel cutted her off. “I’d sure be nuts to even think of leaving you for something like that!”
“But-”
“No buts.” her voice firm “I love you, Isabela. And I’ll do everything I can to show it to you every single day until you’ll have me.”
Green met hazel.
Rosa’s determined expression screamed the truthfulness of her vow to Isa.
Isabela felt overwhelmed with love and hugged Rosabel as tightly as she could. This girl with a golden heart was her other half and she couldn’t be happier.
After a couple of seconds, Rosabel helped Isabela get up from the ground.
“I like your new style by the way.” Rosa said, grinning. Isa’s cheeks flushed a little.
Suddenly, Julieta’s voice brought the attention of everyone back. When nobody was watching Mirabel had vanished.
After Mirabel reunited with her family, a chorus of voices could be heard approaching the twelve members of La Casa Madrigal. On the first line of villagers, along with Mariano, his mother and señor Osvaldo, was Rosabel leading everyone to the Madrigals.
She joined her hands with Isabela’s as soon as she arrived in front of her.
“Let us help you now.” she said.
Isa gave her a grateful look.
As everyone got to work Isabela stopped Rosabel on her tracks.
“I didn’t get the chance to tell you before.” Isabela began to speak. “The engagement is cancelled for good, all thanks to Mirabel.” she finished with a wide smile.
Rosabel was so happy and relieved to hear that her suspects from the night before were right, that she didn’t notice Isabela leaning in to lock their lips in a passionate kiss, in front of everyone. A kiss Isa waited long enough to share with the woman she choose to love, finally completely careless of the judgment of others.
All around them could be heard people who stopped working, gasping and watching them with surprise and shock.
Felix, Pepa, Julieta and Agustín watched the moment with astonished silence. Agustín was the first to wore a big and approving smile for his daughter along with a thumbs up for extra support. Julieta, Pepa and Felix followed his lead with enthusiasm.
Camilo deduced something was up by Isabela’s being completely uninterested in Mariano or any other guy for that matter. Good for her.
Dolores let out a happy squeak, not surprised for obvious reasons. She was relieved that it wasn’t a secret anymore and glad to see her prima finally with her soulmate.
Even Bruno didn’t look much surprised at all. Has he kept some details of Isabela’s future vision hidden perhaps?
Mirabel and Luisa cheered loudly without hesitation, both radiant with joy for their older sister.
Little Antonio was happy for his prima since she looked happy kissing the other girl, did he need some other reason? He didn’t think so.
Abuela blinked a few times with her head slightly tilted to the side, almost as if she was seeing things. It was certainly a new development, but she clearly saw the unconditional love between the two girls. The same love her and Pedro shared. She smiled.
It was only natural for Rosabel to invite Isabela to stay at her place, until her girlfriend’s house wasn’t ready and livable once again.
The reconstruction took some time and Rosabel certainly wasn’t complaining since she got to spend a lot of time with Isabela. They easily got used to a daily routine together. They would wake up, have breakfast, get to work in town and at Casita, hangout hand in hand through the streets of the Encanto and so on.
They had the chance to experiment what their married life would be like after all, why not take it?
Rosabel, Isabela and Mirabel got to help Dolores confess to Mariano at some point. They shared happy high fives for their success when the two love birds leaved together arm in arm.
In the meantime, Rosabel has been growing on her own and in secret a little cactus to gift to Isabela. She wanted her to know that she loved her no matter what. Meanwhile Isabela was perfecting her gardening skills now that she couldn’t grow the plants herself. Even if not for long since, always thanks to Mirabel, the whole family would get their gifts back, but let’s not get to that just yet.
One day Rosabel approached her with a little cactus in a pot.
“I heard you like cactus.” she said jokingly but also with sweetness in her tone, offering the plant to Isabela.
“I like its spikes, so different from all the soft petals I’m used to.” confessed Isa, thanking Rosa and taking the pot in her hands with a warm smile.
“Lucky me then, roses also have thorns.” Rosa winked at Isa, making her blush like it was the first time.
The end.
The Bookstore
For@missilestorm1, spurred on through discussion of @acewithapaintbrushand@pensandpizza’s shoulder slip ruana. I hope you don’t mind; the addition of glasses seemed important.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It’s rare to see Bruno Madrigal, famed seer of the Encanto, in the little bookstore doubling as an unofficial library. The books there aren’t meant for lending, not truly, but the seller can be persuaded to let a book go in exchange for some mending or a home-cooked meal. The books are returned with careful consideration, the goods are consumed, and the barter system continues.

But the Madrigals have their own store of books. At parties, bookshelves are visible lining the back walls of la sala. The bindings are neatly lined up in blues and greens and browns. Casita likely holds more books than any home in the Encanto.

So why is Bruno here?

He pulls books partway off the shelf, one index finger hooking over the top binding and tipping them out for consideration. He turns his head to the side, curls obscuring his face for a moment. It’s tied back—or, well, an attempt at being tied back. Some of it’s been gathered into a clip, perhaps courtesy of a sobrina. Most of his dark hair is still free, brushing his shoulders and coiling around his ears.

He leans back from his perusal and three fingers nudge the book back onto the shelf. They linger for a moment, almost a stroke on the binding.

Then he’s moving further down the aisle, head tilting back to search a higher shelf. It exposes the long line of his throat, hugged by his maroon shirt. The top two buttons are undone, visible through the V of his ruana.

Bruno steps back, tilting his head further and squinting at the top shelf. The bob of his adam’s apple only draws attention to the paleness of his neck, lacking sun that’s kissed his arms.

Bruno must give up on the upper reaches, as his gaze drifts to the lower shelves. He tilts his head the other way, curls spilling off his shoulder, and reads titles sideways. Then he reaches for a bottom shelf, batting his ruana out of the way. It falls forward, tangling with his arm until he sighs, straightens, and pulls it off. The fabric upsets the delicate balance of the hair clip, leaving a wild array of hair in its wake.

Bruno frowns, patting it down and resettling the clip as best he can behind his head. It’s a little crooked, but he doesn’t notice. The ruana is folded carefully over his arm and he straightens his shirt. Then he leans down for his book again.

The shirt gives in to gravity and slides slightly down his back, exposing a sliver of creamy skin. The fabric of his pants pulls tight, highlighting the rear normally hidden beneath the ruana.

Then Bruno’s straightening, book in hand. He turns pages, delicate in deference to the thin paper. Then he pauses, squinting at the words. He pats his pants pocket, shuffling the book into the crook of his arm to pull out a small glasses case. The case goes back into his pocket while the glasses perch on his nose. He reopens the book.

The glass catches the shafts of sunlight, hiding his eyes. Bruno turns away from the light, adjusting the book slightly to read it better. He glances up and nods when someone passes the aisle. His eyes flicker green, like the depths of the jungle where the sun never makes it to the undergrowth. Then it’s gone, as his head dips back to the text.

After one more page, he must come to a decision. The book is shut and placed on the shelf while he slides the glasses back into their case. It’s easier to see the dark lashes framing his eyes now. Then these, too, are hidden as the ruana is shrugged back over his head.

The book doesn’t return to its home on the bottom shelf. It stays in his hand when he walks up to the front counter and drops a few coins with a nod. He’s buying this time, not borrowing.

With a final glance across the shelves of books, Bruno departs, the door swinging shut with a faint chime of a bell.

This is an artful combination of slice of life and thirsty and I absolutely ADORE it oh my GOD XD Thank you so much Breanna <3

Tremors, Chapter 7

Summary:The tub cracked, the sound echoing in the bathroom. Mirabel flinched, recoiling in horror. They’d barely moved back in - why was Casita cracking again? She reached out a hand to trace it, and it widened, spreading into the base of the tub. She jumped up and stared at her fingers, pulse racing.
She looked to the cabinet. “Was it - me? All along?” she mouthed. Casita seemed feverish and shook the cabinet with a resounding no.
Tears formed in Mirabel’s eyes. “Casita -“ she whispered. Was this supposed to be a gift?

——

Mirabel awakened to muttering voices.

“How long have you known?” Mamá asked.

Bruno sighed. “She - she told me this morning. It started when Casita came back.”

Mirabel curled further into the blankets. ‘Told’ was generous. She’d tried everything short of putting a hole in the wall to avoid telling him.

Mamá swore. “What was Mamá thinking?”

“She probably wasn’t thinking.” Papa said.

A door creaked open. Thunder clapped as it clicked closed. A few shushes hissed back.

“Sorry, sorry,” Pepa said. “How is she?”

“Asleep, for now,” Mamá said. “She’s running a fever. Food seemed to help, but, like Bruno’s headaches, there’s only so much I can do.” Mamá’s voice cracked at the end.

“She’ll be ok, mi amor.” Papa said.

“How can we know that?” Mamá replied.

Look.” Pepa sighed. The room grew darker. “We can deal with this the same way we’ve dealt with every gift. Waking up with a gift tied to your emotions - how she managed to get through the last week without anyone noticing is a miracle.”

The coffee table cracked down the middle. The conversation halted. Damn it.

I’m a little out of practice with writing fics, but like,,,, idk I tried lol. Here’s the summary

When Dolores was seven years old, her brother Camilo was born. And when Camilo was born, the house flooded. Her mamá’s pain and one particularly poorly timed prophecy from Bruno (‘a child will be born - they will change the family.’) had culminated into a storm, then a hurricane, then a tsunami until Dolores developed a cold.

With the family busy with work or the new baby, it’s up to her Tío Bruno to nurse her through her sickness. Tío Bruno isn’t very good with children - they remind him of his own childhood a little too much. But maybe he can make an exception for his sick sobrina

Just posted my first Encanto fic on ao3:

“Uh, well, yeah,” Bruno says sheepishly, and smiles.

Or: Darts, annoyance, family.
