I don’t even know if this countdown ‘til end kf internship still applies, but keeping it there for the sake of it.

Hey guys, it’s been 4 days since we, medical interns, were pulled out from the hospital because of the corona virus outbreak. Everything happened so fast. I was catching babies that day for my neonatal rotation, then hours later, I was on a car ride home to my province.

Here I am on my 4th day of quarantine. My sister recently developed fever, cough, and difficulty of breathing. She’s currently admitted in a hospital back in Manila and fortunately, she’s stable. Meanwhile I’ve had cough, colds, and malaise ever since I arrived. This is why I’m taking this self-quarantine seriously. I haven’t touched or hugged any family member ever since I arrived because I can’t risk exposing my parents (who are both >60 years old) if ever I did catch the virus.

Anyway, I have 10 days left. I’ve been using this time to study Biochemistry through online videos and books even though I’m not sure if we’re gonna be able to take the licensure exam this year. The future is so unclear, and that thought kinda makes me feel demotivated. But I try to brush it off, just try to study like I usually do.

I hope everyone’s okay at this time of crisis. I pray for everyone who can’t stay home because they have to earn for their families. I pray for our frontliners, and my co-interns who volunteered to stay in the hospita despite the pullout. It’s times like these that we really need to help each other. I pray that this will pass soon. :)

thanks for following me on here guys, it’s always lovely to meet new friends ♡︎

after several months, i’m finally on here again! my first year in leapmed and as a college student ends in less than a month. despite classes being online, i had the best time with my new friends, and i learned SO much about medicine that i seriously can’t believe i’m still supposed to be in pre-med.

these are my pics that summarize my weekend; the moments in between studying day & night. i wanted to post them here to appreciate taking a rest from studying too. シ

p.s. that’s my hotdog dog, crumble! + aloe vera juice is surprisingly really tasty.

i don’t particularly like this spread, to be honest, i just wanted to take pictures of the creamy cinnamon buns before i ate them HAHA. also, i found that mini canvas & easel lying around and i’m hoping to paint something on it soon! any suggestions?

+ my course’s orientation is today! freaked out is an understatement. i’m literally shaking.

Week 13of2020 quarantine challenge

sunday: Where would you rather be from?

this is the easiest question yet — Japan or Korea definitely! i’m just so in love with their weather, people, culture and everything about the place. i visited Japan twice now and Korea once, and both times were just an unforgettable experience! nevertheless, i am happy to be from the ph ♡  but i also wouldn’t mind being in new zealand right now tbh.

June 20th 2020, 7:04pm.

happy father’s day to all the super dads out there! this was from my old bullet journal, from 3 years ago. i saw this drawing on weheartit and i just had to try it on this spread (i’m looking for the original artist to credit, if you know them please let me know).

Week 13of2020 Quarantine Challenge

saturday: What job would you be terrible at?

i think i’d be a terrible counselor or therapist. don’t get me wrong! i love to listen to people and help them with their problems in any way i can.. but in difficult situations i usually end up just empathizing and feeling as stumped as they are; so i don’t think i’d be of any help.

I know it’s been a while since I posted anything on my studyblr. I made a vlog of sorts to commemorate the start of my final semester before internship.

Who loves post its?!

I really like this Sticky notes set from NBS ✨

They’re easy to use in a ring binder. You could easily get one for notes, reminders, more notes, and as flags for pages (and insert some lil notes heh)! Sticky notes are one of my favorite stationeries. ♡

[ thursday | 09.21.2017 ]

I wanted to do some listening practice yesterday so I decided to watch a Korean movie called "Silenced”. I was supposed to watch it first without subtitles then watch it again while reading the subtitles but there were too many disheartening scenes that after one hour of watching, I was like “Ah. I’m speechless. I don’t want to watch this again. I don’t think I can watch this movie again. It’s full of infuriating scenes.” so I decided to watch the rest of the movie with the subtitles turned on. I was so stressed out because of that movie to the extent that I couldn’t bring myself to go to sleep. It wasn’t even a horror movie but I think it was more scary than a horror movie since it was a true to life story.

Have you guys watched Silenced?
What are your thoughts about it?

I woke up around 5:30AM today. There was a heavy downpour all night so there’s flood. Because it rained, it’s cold and I don’t feel like getting up. Anyway, my room still reeks of paint so I can’t use it yet. I have to wait. I still have to buy a table and curtain but I’m having a hard time looking for a curtain that I like. One of the not so good points of living in the province is having a hard time looking for pretty things that you like. Well, I can buy online but the shipping fee is kinda expensive and I can’t see or touch it and there’s no way to check how the quality is before buying so it’s also kinda hard.

[ monday | 09.18.2017 ]

I went to church yesterday. I was so happy to see my church friends after not being able to see them for 2 weeks because I was sick. I wanted to stay and have a chat with my church friends but I had something to do so I left church right after the service. I needed to buy some A4 paper so I went down to the 1st floor. But they don’t have the A4 paper that I wanted so I ended up buying something else. Oh dear. Every time I go to the bookstore, I always end up buying things that I don’t really need like pens and notebooks. It was the same yesterday. I have so many notebooks and I haven’t even used them yet but I still bought two more yesterday. I really need to get rid of this bad habit before it gets too late but I don’t know how.

Do you guys also end up buying a notebook or pen or something you don’t really need when you go to bookstores or school supplies stores?

I studied with Talk to Me in Korean’s Everyday Korean Idiomatic Expressions book and these are the notes I wrote yesterday which kinda reminds me of Wanna One’s pink and blue albums. Lol. I studied and stayed up until 1AM.

I have recently subscribed to a lot of Korean youtubers and I’ve been watching their videos these past few days for listening practice. Their videos don’t have Korean or English subtitles which can be a good thing because I’m forced to listen and understand as much as I can and not rely on subtitles but it can be a bad thing when there are words or phrases that I’m dying to know and I don’t want to pester my Korean friends to just to find out.

Hello, studyblr community!

Hi! My name is Angeli and I’ve been learning Korean on and off through self-study since 2011. I surprisingly managed to pass TOPIK Level 4 in 2014 but because it’s been more than 2 years since then, my certificate has expired and I have to take TOPIK again. I have worked in a Korean military base camp for 4 months and I have joined a couple of Korean speech contests before.

Why did I create this studyblr?

I used to have a studyblr a couple of years ago but I never really used it that much since I find Tumblr very confusing to use back then (I still find it a little confusing tbh) and I never really got a chance to interact with anyone from the studyblr community.

After going on a long hiatus from studying Korean, I have recently started to study it again so to motivate myself and to meet fellow Korean language learners, I decided to create this studyblr. I also have a studygram(@meloncremekr) which is also kinda new.

Hopefully, this blog will help me keep track of my studies and help me stay focused since I’m planning to take TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) again some time next year. I’m also hoping to learn some tips about learning Korean language from fellow learners and also to offer help to those who are interested in learning it.

Here are some of my favorite studyblr:

@emmastudies // @studyquill // @studywithinspo

And this studyblr was inspired by @nocturnalinseoul because she told me to make one. Haha!

If you’re a studyblr / langblr / studying Korean language, reblog this and I’ll check you out! And feel free to send me a message as well. ^^

[ monday | 01.01.2018 ]

Happy New Year! 2018 has officially started and I’m currently working on my study trackers using the blank pages on my new planner.

This is how I keep track of my Korean language study habits. To be fluent in a foreign language, it is important that you work on improving all of your skills such as reading or writing. It’s not good to focus on just one skill and neglect the others. With the help of this study tracker that I made, I will know what skills I have neglected and if I did well or slacked off. I did not include speaking in the tracker since I don’t really get to talk to a native Korean as often as I want to. But I hope I’ll be able to work on my speaking skills again soon.

Supplies used:

• The 2018 Giving Journal from The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf
• Artline Stix Brush Marker in Apricot
• Zebra Sarasa Clip Pens 0.4mm

How do you keep track of your studies?

[ saturday | 11.25.2017 ]

I just found out from a post in Tumblr that this book is what Taehyung was reading some couple of years ago. I find it interesting when I realize some famous person has read/is reading the book I’m reading and I can’t help but think about what goes on in their minds when reading a certain line. Like if they’re having the same thoughts or feeling the same thing as me.

Anyway, I’m reviewing my vocabulary notes from the first three stories in this book.

1. 싫증이 쉬운 아이 - it’s about how the author of the story tries to figure out why s/he gets tired of doing something so easily like when s/he tries out a new hobby, s/he does it earnestly at first then eventually starts losing interest.

2. 나는 지금 열일급의 세상밖에 볼 수 없으니까 - it’s about the author saying that life as a 17 year old is difficult but older people keep saying it’s not as difficult as it seems, that it is nothing compared to how difficult it is being an adult. But the author tries to reason out that s/he has never lived the life of an adult so s/he won’t know and that as of this moment, s/he is living the world of a 17 year old experiencing the hardships of a 17 year old.

3. 작가의 말 - it’s about how the author of the story reads books including the author’s note and how reading the author’s note can make him/her change his/her mind about a book. A certain book s/he read was so-so but changes his/her mind after reading the author’s note where the author of the book humbly confessed that s/he has no talent in writing but wants to prove to him/herself that even though s/he has no talent in writing, s/he can still fulfill a dream and gain happiness.

Judging a K-Pop Cover Contest

I was invited to be one of the judges for a k-pop cover contest in one of the universities here in our city. The contest was one of the major events in the university’s sports fest and it was organized by one of the school’s student organizations called HallyUPi.

HallyUPi is a student organization for fans of k-pop, Korean dramas and Korea. Hallyu means Korean wave and UP stands for University of the Philippines. Every year, they hold a k-pop cover contest during their sports fest for the students of UP. Their k-pop cover contest keeps getting better and better every year. They also hold other activities like Korean film showing or food fair.

*sighs* So jealous. The college I went to didn’t even have any student organizations, let alone an organization like HallyUPi so it made me wish that I went to their university instead. I think my college days would have been more bearable if I were in a k-pop/k-drama student organization and be surrounded by people who share the same interest as me.

PS: My editing sucks. T_T I’m working on it. Haha.

This is probably one of the most common questions that beginners ask when learning 한글. Just like every beginner learners, I went through this as well which is why I decided to study pronunciation rules too. I created this post to help clear up any confusion.

When ㄹ is located at the beginning of a word, it sounds more like an R.

When ㄹ is located between two vowels, it sounds like an R.

When ㄹ is located at the end of a word, it’s pronounced more like an L.

Example: 딸 (ddal), 아들 (a-deul), 월 (weol), 달 (dal), 칼 (khal), 연필 (yeon-pil), 교실 (gyo-sil)

When ㄹ is followed by a consonant or followed by another ㄹ, it sounds like L.

When ㄹ comes after any consonant except ㄴ, ㄹ is pronounced as N.

Example:생리 (saeng-ni), 국립 (gung-nip), 능력 (neung-nyeok)

When ㄹ comes before or after an ㄴ, both ㄹ and ㄴ are pronounced as ㄹ.

Disclaimer: Hope this helps but remember not to rely too much on romanizations and listen to the sounds properly as well.

This is a post that I shared on Amino app and I decided to post it here as well.
