Great Mosque - Touba, Senegal
One of the largest mosques in Africa, The Great Mosque of Touba, is little known outside of Senegal. It can hold up to 7000 people. Since its completion in 1963 it has been continuously enlarged and embellished.

Stone Town is a city rich in East African history, culture, and the arts. Its architecture, mostly dating back to the 19th century, reflects the diverse influences underlying the Swahili culture, with the East African culture being preeminent, there is a unique mixture of Arab, Persian, Indian and European elements. The name Stone Town comes from the ubiquitous use of coral stone to construct many of the buildings.

As a fellow Christian, I pray everyday that one day I will be able to see a world where your people will be persecuted by the Faith in which you guys believe in. Islam is not the cause for the tragedies that happen in this world everyday. People who do not interpret your holy book correctly are. I will defend you people for I know you all represent a peaceful religion centered around Love and Faith. And the media may portray Islam as the root of all evil; but I hope others educate themselves like I did. Fuck Islamaphobia. I hope that all have a blessed Ramadan. Mashallah.
Halal Tourism – The Uprising of a New Industry
We are long away from the time where everyone stayed in their country. Planes, cars and ships made it easy and affordable for people to travel from one country to another.
Last year, Muslims spent an estimated US$126.1 billion on international travel, making up 12.3% of all international travel, according to a report on Muslim travel released jointly by consultancy DinarStandard. The study also predicts that this number will be increasing in the next 4 years.
What is Halal tourism?
Halal tourism can be numerous things. For example Halal tourism is an alcohol free environment. It can be Muslim friendly entertainment. Halal foods. It is an immersive experience for the traveler in the local culture and food but respects Islamic beliefs.
Only Muslim countries?
While Muslims engaging in international travel hail from both Muslim-majority and Muslim-minority countries, their top three destinations are Malaysia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. But not only Muslim countries are planning to provide halal tourism to Muslims. Muslims of Iceland
There are 875 people registered with the official Muslim organisations in Iceland (as of 2015), making up aprox. 0.27% of the population. Some estimations say that there are up to 1,200 Muslims living in Iceland, but since there are vast rural areas not all can frequent the very few mosques/organizations in the countries more populated areas.Fun Fact: Due to the geographical location of the country, fasting during Ramadan can last up to 22+ hours a day depending on the year.
