Request:Hey! I Just discovered your blog and I love it! I was wondering if you would do headcanons for Jason Todd with a Reader who is a smoker just like him…?

  • Honestly…huge hypocrite
  • Doesn’t want you to really be doing it
  • Always worried about your health
  • Man if you have a smokers cough…that man is all up in your business
  • Comes with you if you wake up to smoke during the night, just in case
  • Very weary when you ask to borrow a cig
  • But he will give it to you
  • Uses the time you spend outside kinda like a little bonding time
  • Honestly wants both of you to quit
  • Even if you aren’t willing to quit, he’ll get you to cut back significantly
  • If you do both end up trying to quit, you both keep each other accountable

hi it’s been a while so take a few batboy headcanons:

  • jason adopting a stray cat, realizing he has NO idea how to care for one, and has to begrudgingly ask damien for advice (ofc he only pretends to be annoyed, in reality he hangs on to every word) *bonus: jason using a baby voice to talk to the cat*
  • tim, who’s susceptible to literally every sickness bc his immune system is shit, running a high fever and weakly pushing bruce away, insistingto go on patrol tonight, and bruce just waits, counts to ten, then catches tim right as he collapses and carries him back to bed
  • dick working in oregon to help fight the fires (no I’m not explaining the logistics of that) and wearily pulling off his helmet at the end of the day, covered in ash and sweat, but smiling to himself, knowing he’s doing what he’s meant to be doing-helping whenever he can
  • damien with his hand pressed against his arm, blood soaking through nonetheless. he’s alone, outnumbered, and injured. he grits his teeth and just before he can spit the most vulgar word he’s learned, he hears a voice. “you probably don’t need backup, but we thought we could help.”he looks up to see dick hanging from the ceiling. a noise comes from his left and right and there’s tim and jason, flanking his sides. dick drops from the ceiling and throws damien a grin. the four boys turn their attention on the enemy, and all at once, unleash hell

jason todd, with his clepto tendencies and hatredof men expressing anger with violence, probably taught bruce a lot about discipline. I mean I’m not saying young dick was a poster child, but come on. he was sweet, he wanted to be a good person, he didn’t have nearly as much drive to explore the dark possibilities as young jason did. I’m also not saying bruce used violence to express his anger towards his kids (maybe towards villains but NOT EVER his kids) but jason was just so different. the kid pissed him off. he stole from him, he defied him, he was wreckless and impulsive on missions. so bruce had his true first encounter with raising a difficult kid. he yelled, as almost all parents do, but upon seeing then the way it affected jason he wondered if maybe that wasn’t the right thing to do. he was confused, dick had never reacted to him yelling like that. but here jason was, pale and shaking, trying to hold back tears, not looking him in the eye. bruce learned to quiet his voice. he learned yelling signaled to jason that he was going to get hurt. and bruce being the person he is, decided he simply would not yell at jason. and still do this day, if he’s angry with him he doesn’t yell, sometimes he even softens his voice a bit. but every now and then he messes up. sometimes jason will stumble to the manor, shit faced, bloody, pockets full of cash, and bruce will care for him, but seethe on the inside. sometimes he raises his voice a little louder than he meant to, and even adult jason will flinch. but that’s another thing bruce has learned when it comes to raising some verytroubled kids. he knows when and how to apologize. sometimes he doesn’t want to. but he does. sometimes the kid should be the one apologizing but bruce still does it. jason, as full of anger and pain as he is, knows that despite bruce’s fuck ups. despite the past, his death, and their current rocky relationship, jason knows his dad wouldn’t hurt him. and he gets hurt. a lot. so it’s good for him to have someone to turn to. someone he knows won’t raise a finger against him.

hh

  • dick leaning sloppily against an alleyway wall, wiping at his nose in a vain attempt to stifle the flow of blood. a man is on the concrete ground, a crumpled heap of limbs, breathing shallowly. dick glances down at the man, a look of disgust on his face. he crouches down, leaning close to the man. it takes everything in him to resist hitting him again. “go to hell.” he breathes, before jumping up to catch the fire escape ladder and nimbly scaling it to the roof of the building. god, he sometimes wishes he could do more than just apprehend scumbags like that man.
  • tim in a blood splattered suit, his hair in his eyes, his jaw working as he swings the metal pipe again, hitting the masked attacker in the ribs as hard as he can. the attacker stumbles and collapses to the ground. tim drops the pipe, letting it clang to the floor. he breathes heavily, taking in the carnage around him. he limps to the attacker and lifts the mask off revealing a young woman, barely conscious. he then straightens, adjusts his suit and pushes back his hair, stepping over the weezing woman and heading towards the door.
  • jason, on his back, staring up at the sliver of night sky he can see through the cracks in the warehouse roof. he’s bleeding from somewhere. from multiple somewheres. he wants to just stay on floor. he wants more than a few seconds to catch his breath, but he can already hear the armed men clamoring towards him. he pushes out a breath of air and forces himself up, staring into the face of many assault weapons. in ten minutes, when the men are all sprawled on the floor around him, he briefly hopes that he can just go home and get sleep now, but in the distance a police siren starts up. he sighs.

river-bottom-nightmare:

i love the idea of the entire batfam being hypercompetent. just like. good at stuff.

because yea, they’ve all been trained extensively by a variety of teachers and mentors and various learning experiences. they all have their skills that they’ve honed to perfection for years. but there are just some things that they’re a natural at, things that make the unique, things that give them an edge just enough to rise to the top in a world full of gods and monsters.

yes, damian’s a trained assassin, and has been since birth. yes, damian works hard to keep his skills up. but the weapons training? it comes to him almost naturally. maybe it was something passed down from both bruce and talia, both deadly fighters in their own right. maybe it has something to do with the al ghul bloodline. either way, damian is absolutely deadly with a weapon in his hand. a blade can arc through the air faster than the human eye can see when it’s in his hand. he can work horrible wonders with an unbalanced sword, and turn combat into an art with a balanced one. tiny fingers wrap around the rough handle of a whip with surety, and he can slip batarangs into his palms and up his sleeves without them ever being seen.

tim’s got one of the most analytical minds of any vigilante alive. he’s not a supergenius or anything, and he leaves the higher-order computer skills and tech to barbara. but to him, the world is a puzzle after a puzzle, and tim never fails to solve them. figuring out dick and bruce’s identities. taking apart a grapple gun and fitting the parts together to make a beartrap. knowing exactly what to say and what to do to get bruce to break and bend and let him in. catching patterns in the chemical formulas of crane’s various toxins. reading through the lies that fell from his family’s lips like raindrops from the sky. everything and everyone tim knows are made of jagged pieces, but tim figured out early on how to put them together, step back, and take a look at the bigger picture.

people say cass doesn’t have any people skills, due to the years spent in isolation, spent alone. but the reality is, she has too many. reading people has always come easy, body language is an open book to her. but what many didn’t know was that there was a big difference between reading a book and analyzing it. it’s easy to see the insecurities of each of her brothers. it’s much harder to know exactly what to do or say to let them bring down their walls for just a moment, show their affection and prove their love in the smallest but most important of ways. it’s easy to see the poison of a smirk on a reporter’s lips, to catch the probing gleam of their eyes. it’s much harder to turn the reporter around, chasing their own tail until the story they were searching for in the first place was lost. it’s easy to pinpoint teammates and other heroes’ strengths and weaknesses, to see them play out in the field and plan for them the way every bat did. it’s much harder to make the others aware of their own strengths and weaknesses, and to convince them to put aside their ego and work on bettering themselves. but cass seemed to have a knack for it.

jason may like playing up the role of the blustering, bull-headed wild card of the family.  mafia-don-from-movies meets muscled brawn. but he’s got a literary mind at the heart of it all. he’s real good at codes and decryptions, because he’s read about them before. he’s lightning fast a nygma’s riddles, because he’s poured through the books from which riddler gets his inspiration a hundred times over. life and art turn into one in his mind, and overlaying his family’s stubbornness and trust issues with novel style analyzations and character assessments that help him understand their interactions a little better. words float off the page and wind their way inside his head, and some may call him dramatic when he can’t force himself to speak so he uses quotes instead, but never say echolalia wasn’t useful.

each member of their worn out and sewn together family had their niche, their own particular area in which they excelled. but dick was brought up in a world where there was only two protecting gotham, two partners working together to keep an entire city from falling apart. jack of all trades, master of none, but better of master than one, dick always said, eyes twinkling with mischief. because sure, his acrobatic prowess was unchallenged. but he grew up on the road visiting city after city, country after country, and it gave him a head for languages. not even dick is sure how many languages and regional dialects he actually knows. his darling little smile was honed to perfection, and interrogations with him never lasted that long. you could drop him in the middle of nowhere and he’d always find his way to civilization, or you could toss him in the middle of a bustling but unfamiliar city, and he’d always make his way back.

Debating (Jason Todd x Black!Reader)

Request from @lolnvmitsjustme : Henlo, I was wondering I’d maybe you could do a Jason x black reader where she is pretty shy and keeps to herself and Jason sees her and is drawn to her for some reason like she’s got a aura about her or something and he likes her dreads? (sorry I’ve never done this before) I love your writing and I know if I ask you it will be awesome and you don’t really see a lot of fics where the reader is of color. Anyway if you you can that would be awesome but obvi don’t worry if you cant! K bye!

So just an FYI I am not of color, and I tried my best for this one, I am sorry if it isn’t good.

There were so many reasons that Jason hated justice league meetings. The most important and pressing reason was his own boredom. The Justice League talked themselves in circles, none of them wanting to do anything of substance.

There was a break in the meeting, for people like Clark and Diana to calm down, and everyone else to grab a coffee.

Jason stayed in the meeting room, his back leaning up against the wall. This had been a long meeting already, and it wasn’t even halfway through.

The Supes was yelling, his face had gotten uncharacteristically red, his hands balled into fists, shouting at Wonder Woman, who mostly kept her composure. It was the same fight that the Justice League always had, to kill or not to kill.

The room was mostly cleared out expect for one other woman, she too was leaning against the wall, her focus was darting around the room, just examining the room. Clearly she was a member of the Amazonian tribe, her uniform similar to Diana’s. She looked cool and collected, and something about her drew Jason in.

Jason pushed himself from the wall, making his way over to the woman with interest. She was one of the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, with her long dreads pushed back with a silver crown.

“Hi.” Jason said, and he suddenly felt like a shy street kid again, not knowing how to talk to woman. It was strange, he had long since grown into his confidence, but now he just wanted to blurt out how pretty this woman was, “I like your dreads.”

Jason almost hit himself in the face, because clearly he was an idiot.

To his surprise the woman just smiled softly, “Thank you. I like your red helmet.”

Jason took off his helmet, revealing his face. The woman seemed cool and collected, as she gazed at his face, it was more like an appraising gaze than anything else, but Jason could feel a slight blush form anyway. The woman looked away, her eyes sweeping the room again, and Jason could tell she was a born warrior.

“The name’s Jason.” Jason said, trying to reclaim any coolness he possessed, and stuck his hand out.

The woman looked at his hand for a second, as if the movement confused her. Eventually she took his hand in hers, and Jason felt a spark of static electricity through the contact. He would later brag about how there were literal sparks when they first touched.

“I’m Y/N.”

There was a moment of silence as Jason tried to think of the nest thing to say, while this woman had a addictive aura and intense beauty, she wasn’t a sparkling conversationalist.

But it turned out Jason didn’t need to speak.

“What are your opinions on the proceedings?” Y/N asked.

And Jason was a little upset that she only wanted to talk about work, but he understood.

“I think if we rule out killing at all times we won’t get far, sometimes people need to be stopped. Permanently.” Jason answered.

Y/N’s facial expression didn’t change, and for a moment Jason wondered if he should have lied. Maybe she was like Bruce, a believer that no one should ever be killed.

But then Y/N turned to him, a shy smile stretching across her face, it made her even more beautiful. Her face almost glowed, even with this small smile, and Jason felt his heart sputter for a second.

“I think you and I will get along.”

Something short and sweet because I really needed some fluffy Jason.

-It took you a while to realize that Jason Todd doesn’t say “I love you”

-At first it bothered you, a lot. Because your boyfriend wouldn’t say those three words to you.

-The first time you had said it out loud was  on a night when it was just the two of you hanging out in his apartment.

-You said “I love you” and Jason just stared at you with wide eyes. There was nothing but silence for a moment and you felt your face heat up.

-You told him he didn’t have to say it back. You could understand if he wasn’t there yet. Jason had opened and closed his mouth, he was trying to force himself to say it.

-But you stoped him, because you didn’t want him to tell you like this. You wanted true genuine feelings. Not for him to say it just because you did.

-Jason didn’t look happy for the rest of the night, and you could tell the conversation bothered him. And it made you feel like shit, because you figured this signified the end. If he couldn’t love you back.

-You went home that night grumpy and upset. You lay in bed wide awake thinking about Jason.

-You really thought your relationship with Jason was going well. He opened up about parts of himself, told you about his death and resurrection. To share something that personal, you had thought that meant he felt the same way you did.

-It was then that you realized he had been saying “I love you” for months now.

-He says it when he grabs your hand, his large hand encompass yours completely and you feel warm. He says it when he gently squeezes your hand when he realizes you excited or when he rubs his thumb across the back of your hand when you’re nervous.

-Jason says “I love you” when he comes to you with a book in hand that he thinks you might like. Or when he shows you a poem that reminded him of you.

-Jason says it when you two are together in bed, in every searing kiss and every moan. When he looks into your eyes and when he drops his head to nibble at the crook of your neck.

-Jason has trouble with expressing his emotions, after everyone that had hurt him in the past, so of course he had trouble saying three little words.

-But you understood now.

-There are millions of ways to say “I love you” you just have to be willing to listen.

catxsnow:

Everyone always talks about how Jason gets nightmares, but what about the times that someone raises a hand near him? Even in the most innocent of ways. Jason’s little flinch each time he’s near someone as Jason, not the infamous Red Hood, raises a hand. He knows, god he knows that they’re not going to strike but he can’t help but react that way.

Every time he sees an arm extending his way all he can thinking about is the additional length of a crowbar at the end of it. The strikes of pain that he got left with once upon a time stayed with him. An innocent arm suddenly is dressed in a purple suit and the linger metallic smell fills his nose. He’s taken back, just by a simple movement.

He doesn’t tell anyone about the frustrating gesture that he’s gotten from his PTSD. How is someone as big as him supposed to be scared of someone with even the most delicate of hands? It was drilled into him that such an occurrence was unnatural, that someone of his size shouldn’t be afraid of anything.

He can’t feel the warmth of a loving hand on his cheek without the violent striking that he had gotten previously. He can’t have some touch his fair without remembering the grip that had been so tightly that hair had been ripped out. He can’t enjoying an embrace from a loved one without feeling like he was trapped in a coffin.

Roy notices it first. He stalks even the tinniest of movements from strangers, but his friends? He knows their common gestures and the uncommon ones that are so desperately hidden under layers of training. He knows that Jason flinches, even just the slightest. Roy refuses to say anything on the matter, if Jason wanted to be open with him - he would.

Nonetheless, Roy puts in the effort to keep himself small by Jason - not that it was hard to begin with. He keeps his hands below Jason’s chest, and if he were to ever sling an arm over his shoulder - it would be slow enough that Jason would easy see what he was doing.

Dick, Tim, Cass, they know of it - they knew of it from the moment that Jason came back to the manor for the first time. How he’d cringe to loud noises or fast movements. How his nose would scrunch up when he was standing beside metal. He hated how reactive his senses were, how easily they could bring him back to the worst night of his life.

Bruce, who thought he knew Jason better than anyone, who didn’t really know him at all. He knew the pain, the suffering, he knew the facts about Jason Todd but he sure as hell didn’t know what was going through his head half the time. He didn’t know of the memories that flashed before him in the middle of the day, or the reason that he was thankful for hiding behind a mask so no one could see the fear in his eyes.

There was nothing that Bruce Wayne could do, even if he actually gave enough of a damn to try.

It’s Damian that says something to him. Damian, who grew up with trauma, who was forced to be beaten down until he couldn’t get back up. Their pasts, as different as they may be, were just the same. He knew what lingering memories could do to a person, how someone in Jason’s position suffered more than anyone.

It was Damian that had caught Jason with terror in his eyes at the rising of a palm during the middle of a fight, that caught a split moment frozen with fear.  It was Damian that told Jason it’s okay to carry that trauma with him. After everything that he’s been through it was expected for him to have residual affects.

There was nothing wrong with Jason Todd, no matter how badly he wanted to believe it.

I’m making these ten minute writes a challenge for myself now, and yet they still progressively get worse and worse.
