#love songs
In college I tried to come up with a definition of love. It was something like “a deep connection of two people tied together with the inextricable bonds of care and commitment.”
I used to think that was pretty good. But as I get older I think of it differently. As a baseline, love needs three things:
1.) Integrity/strength of character.
2.) Honesty.
3.) Loyalty.
The rest is just periphery. And bonus.

Well if it wasn’t Love, it was A Lot Like Love.

Know that I’ve not just let you hold my hand, my delicate heart rests in your hands. So, hold it tight and keep it safe because you’re already sending me to despair.
In the mood for Love. (Masterful evocation of romantic longing and fleeting moments.)

I’ll tell you what I like
In record stores 20 years ago this week. Hard to believe.
Sardonic observers of the passing scene or sentimental romantics?
Tough call with Pulp. Or maybe they eat their cake and have it too. As with most of Jarvis Cocker’s work (for which lyrics are written across a Möbius strip of irony), it’s hard to say if he’s putting us on or not, and it’s easy to say that it doesn’t matter either way.
Heartbreak as hilarity, and the human experience as eternal pratfall, are always solid entertainment.
And Pulp basically own the concept.
One direction still gives me hope on finding someone that I love this year, just so I can sing 18 in peace.
