Snow Moon (Februrary’s Full Moon) with snowbud, cocomint greenandspearmint

Finally got around to doing a label for another one of my Full Moon teas!  This one is for February!  If you like fragrant light teas (and mint!) this would be a great tea for you. :D

BREWING TIPS: Empty the pouch into a new container and gently stir. Use careful finger pinches of tea rather than a tea spoon to get a good even mix of tea.  There will be some small variation in flavor from cup to cup.

Check out all my teas here

While every single month’s Full Moon may be perceived and look analogous and similar from Earth, each individual one possesses their own names, foundational narratives, energies, qualities, and spiritual meanings gained throughout thousands of years.

January:

The Wolf Moon:

The January Full Moon is frequently titled the Old moon, Ice moon, and the Wolf Moon, and speculations of the reasoning include the howls throughout the night during this period of the year for food was scarce for them and they were hungry. The wolf stands up for itself and others, being firm with its boundaries and provides food and protection when needed which is what this Full Moon embodies.

February:

The Snow Moon:

The February Full Moon is called the Snow Moon since this is when some of the heaviest snow would fall. Various communities and tribes also dubbed this the Hunger Moon since food became very scarce this late into the winter. Although February’s Full Moon is indeed the Snow Moon, its spiritual meaning is all about heat, and setting our passions ablaze.

March:

The Sugar Moon:

A Full Moon is in the sky during March, and the worms are uprooting from beneath the soil. The Sugarcane is easily at its most prominent stage of growth, and you feel spring waltzing around the corner. This Full Moon brings conclusions, movement, and emotional relief. The Earth around you is beginning to thaw, and life is about to emerge in abundance, go enjoy it!

April:

The Pink Moon:

April’s Full Moon received its sobriquet from the Phlox flowers which bloom in North America throughout April and are among spring’s earliest blossoms. This prominently luminary celestial body is also called the Grass, Fish, and Paschal Moon since it occasionally aligns with Easter. This Full Moon promotes grounding, harmony, tranquility, and peaceful energies. Enjoy the fresh grass, and traveling fish,

May:

The Flower Moon:

The Full Flower Moon in May is one magnificent springtime occasion to look forward to, and is a time for fresh beginnings, radical development, revitalization, optimism, extreme evolution, inspiration, and personal growth much like the sprouting and budding flowers all around us. Plant and sow your energetic seeds for this year now.

June:

The Strawberry Moon:

This Full Moon that adorns the sky during June is known as the Strawberry and Honey Moon. This is because strawberries and honey production is flourishing, and afterwards being harvested in plenty for throughout the year. Like the sweet bliss of the first bites of strawberry, and the scent of honey alone, we can learn to be sweeter to ourselves and others, letting go of spite and embracing forgiveness.

July:

The Buck Moon:

The Full Moon in July is called the Buck, Hay, and Rose Moon because at this time the antlers of male deer are most prominent, the roses have bloomed, and hay is ready for harvest. Bucks shed and regrow their antlers each year, generating a greater and more impressive pair each time, and inspires us to release what is necessary for our personal optimal growth.

August:

The Sturgeon Moon:

This Full Moon embodies thankfulness for the rewards of Earth and asks us to step into the rhythm and energies with awareness and gratitude for what you possess, your beginnings and present, and what is blooming around you now. The Sturgeon Moon and nature’s plenty can inspire us to embrace individualism and set basic adjustments to our lives.

September:

The Harvest Moon:

The Harvest Moon, occasionally described to as the Corn Moon, is the nearest full Moon to the Autumnal Equinox. This Moon corresponds as the period of harvesting and gathering food for the colder months, often being corn. The Harvest Moon’s spiritual meaning is all about balance, fortitude, and abundance, a time to respect and appreciate.

October:

The Blood Moon:

A Blood Moon can help give attention to traveling inwards towards unacknowledged feelings and thoughts. Blood Moon astrologically communicates the chance for an expressive reset and a purge of your emotive shadows. The Blood Moon is a time of encouragement for inner reflection, releasing, and healing your denied grimmer emotions.

November:

The Beaver Moon:

The eleventh full moon of the year is known as the Frosty and Beaver Moon. The Beaver itself reminds us to harness the energies of imagination, innovation, collaboration, determination and accord within ourselves. The Beaver Moon holds its name since in November, beavers retreat to shelter.

December:

The Oak Moon:

The December Moon is recognized as the Oak Moon, Cold Moon, Winter Moon, and Wolf Moon. This full Moon holds to energies of resilience, endurance, reincarnation, commitment, perpetuity, connection, clarity, and release of anguish. The Oak tree itself embodies strength, confidence, endurance, concentration, resistance, and knowledge.

It is that time of month again, the Full Moon! This month; however, holds a few tricks up its sleeve. On February 10th (into the 11th) the moon will be at her fullest. It just so happens that on this night there will be a “prenumbral lunar eclipse”. Although this eclipse is not the most noticeable, the sun, earth, and moon are still in perfect alignment. Learn more about eclipses here! There will also be a comet visible in the night sky from the 10th to 11th. This comet is only visible every 5 and ¼ year. It has been dubbed the “New Year Comet”, or Comet 45P. Read a little more about these events here. Now…on to the full moon!

What is the Snow Moon?

February’s full moon is appropriately named the Snow Moon. This is because the heaviest of snow fall usually occurs in February! This moon is a time for letting go of the past, and preparing for the future. Get your goals for the year in order, cleanse yourself and your space.

More importantly, it is a time of forgiveness. Let go of all negative feeling and look ahead. Make a conscious effort to forgive and love yourself. Preform spells of self-love, growth, and letting go.

Try a self-love bath, or a ritual cleansing.

Hello my dears. With the Snow Moon on its way (and the long winter taking its’ toll on us) I figured it was time for a self-love bath. I am not the biggest fan of bath magick, but every so often a hot bath is needed…nothing feels better than hot water, the scent of lavender, and a glass of red wine. This can also be used in smaller proportions in a foot bath (fill a large salad bowl with hot water, just as nice!)

What you need:

Lavender Essential Oil (9 drops)

Epsom Salts (2 Cups)

Rose Petals (pink roses preferred)

Lavender Buds (optional)

Pink Candles (pink is for self-love..white is a good substitution)

What to do:

Mix the lavender oil and Epsom salts, making sure to mix/shake it thoroughly to spread the oil evenly. Fill your bath with your preferred water temperature. Mix in your Epsom salts evenly throughout the water. Add the rose petals or lavender buds, if you choose to. Light your pink candles and get into your bath. I suggest staying in for about 30 minutes!

While you are in your bath, smell the lavender and let yourself relax. Consciously pay attention to your muscles, allow yourself to melt…completely relax. Close your eyes, and visualize a warm, pink light surrounding you. If meditation is your cup of tea, repeat a mantra to yourself such as “I am beautiful” or “I choose to love myself”.

This small act of self-care will promote those feeling of self-love!

Please be safe, enjoy, and remember to love yourself!

With all this talk of super moon, I am sure I do not need to go into grand detail about it. However, to further educate myself, and those of you who are just hearing the super news now, I did some research and here’s what I got:

Super Moon – When the Full Moon is closer than usual in Earth’s orbit.

Because the earth and the moon do not have a perfectly circular orbit, there are times during the revolution of these two celestial beings in which they are very close or very far away. It just so happens that Monday, November 14th at 6:30 am will be the closest the moon has been since 1948.

To be exact, the moon will be 216,486 miles away, which is 22,000 miles closer than average. Experts say that the moon will appear to be 14% bigger and 30% brighter than her usual bright beautiful self.

What does this mean for magick?

Well, the moon is already powerful and influential. This being a full moon making it even more so. Because the moon is closer to us, we can feel closer to our Goddess, and communicate with her even deeper.

It just so happens that November is the Mourning Moon or the Snow Moon! And what a perfect month to have our Lady be closer than ever.

During the November full moon, it is typical to reach out to the deities. It is a time to communicate to the Lady and Lord. Perhaps light a candle in their honor and sing them a song. Or ask them for guidance through full moon water scrying, or a tarot card reading. If you have a gratitude jar, this moon will be a great time to add to it (or begin one, if you don’t have one already). With the moon being so close, there is a greater chance that you will encounter the divine.

Also practiced during the full moon of November, preparing yourself emotionally for the coming dark, cold winter. This is a time to end bad habits or bury old negative feelings. Start preparing for a clean slate in the new year. Try to harness some of your bright and positive energy into a charm or talisman that will give you strength through the winter. Or bottle some of it up into a positivity jar!

During this November Super Moon, here is what you might do (quick re-cap, and some links):

✮ Practice Full Moon Water Scrying or Tarot Cards.

✮ Create a Gratitude Jar.

✮ Create a Shrine to the Lady (and Lord).

✮ Create a Charm or Talisman to Harness Positivity.

✮ Bottle Up Your Positive Energy in a Positivity Jar.

✮ Preform a Spell to End Bad Habits.
