It’s time to talk about antiheroes Tell me your favourites? Or do you prefer heroes?

Look, I love antiheroes It’s the inner wars and torment for me, how they do bad to do good, and live between pieces of darkness — but cling to that shred of humanity. They are flawed, they often have steep arcs and tragic backstories, and [clenches fist] the way they can be wicked and clever, but also vulnerable and soft, results in such brilliant and raw writing. Masterful.

I also feel antiheroes acknowledge their flaws and skip the ‘saviour syndrome’ or self righteousness of the outright hero. Not to diss all heroes. But just… most of them.

Also please feel free to share!!!! I have tons of antihero recs for you and I’m keen to hear yours in the comments!

I have so many antihero projects that I ache over. This makes me want to go write.

People be too busy all hyped up on Hannibal, Dexter, and Alastor—don’t get me wrong those two are amazing I saved the best for last, but we need more girls in the center like this: relatable, badass, sexy, both crazyorchill.

With bad guys always in the spotlight, the girls are always the pathetic damsels in distress that you know will get killed off the minute they are on screen, or they end up being the annoying petty bitch that you WISH would get killed off.

Like, yeah, I know we got films like Cruella,Maleficent 1 & 2, Birds of Prey, and whatnot, but I’m talking about more full on series that aren’t always discontinued the few times they are made.

You are a supervillain who has just captured your rival’s child. Rather than being afraid, they’re begging you to let them stay.

“She’s demanding to speak to you, boss.” Mike, my most reliable henchman, looked apologetic. “Being real civil about it, too. It’s a little creepy.”

I shrugged. I didn’t really expect anything less from the teenage daughter of the city’s most popular superheroes. “Interrogation room three, then. Have the kitchen bring some refreshments. Sandwiches? There’s no reason we can’t be civilized about things.”

I had no intention of killing a child, after all, or even hurting her. Abduction was standard villain MO, but it was supposed to be used to make a point, to get attention. The Shiner and Eco-girl were great upholders of the status quo, but the status quo was making the children in the poorer parts of the city sick. I wanted them to know what it felt like to have a child at risk, like so many of my neighbors.
